આપ્રે બાવાજીઓ ને, બહુ હોય છે, જીભ ના ચટાકા.

નાસતા, ફરસાણ, વડા, સમોસા, કે સુરત ના ફટા કા.

ભેજા, કલેજી, ધાનશાક કવાબ, ધાન દાર ને પાટિઓ;

બધી ચીજો સાથે, ચટણી, સોસ, જામ, મુરબ્બો બી ચાટિઓ.

માટલાનું ઉમ્બર્યું ખાવાની, પીકનીક પર અાવે મઝા
ખાય પી ને બિચારા પેટ ને આપીએ સજા.

થાય ઉમર તેમ ઓછા કરવા જોઈએ જીભ ના ચટાકા

નહિ તો શરીર કરશે બળવો, ખાવા પડશે સપાટા

Because our Armed Forces guard our land, soundly we can sleep.
Thank you for this I earnestly do, with gratitude deep.

Brave, hardworking, courageous and dedicated to the core,
To protect Mother India all the time you are at the fore.

Salute you, Armed Forces, with respect deep, I do.
About your monetary and living conditions, I often rue.

On Republic Day, greetings unto each one of you I send.
On Shaheed Day, my hands I fold in prayer and my head I bend.

To him, irrespective of what people think, their rating always is, five star.

All he seeks is appreciation from his patrons, readers or listeners; his fans.

Creativity is at it's best, when either he is happy or sad, they say.

OUR ROOTS

Anglicizing, modernizing and fashions have cost us a lot.

Moving away from our roots; with our own traditions we have fought.

Earlier, compelled we were, to our language n dress change;

But these days, it's our own doing, for reasons silly and strange.

Following fashions blindly, n aping the West, we call it the in thing, or construction.

By adopting foreign customs, marrying out; indulging we are, in self-destruction.

To amenities collect, to indulge in luxury, has become our passion.

Wearing skimpy outfits, torn jeans, no Sudreh-Kusti is supposed to be fashion.

Moving away from dughlis to suits; from saris to pants is our achievement.

I sadly think, this blind - race is actually a reason for bereavement.

Let's all rise to the occasion, and from perishing, save our clan.

Selfishness quit, study well; to become entrepreneurs is not a ban.

Many other Tata, Bhabha, Palkhiwala, Maneckshaw we need.

Basking in past glory, our ego we cannot afford to feed.

Duty divine and moral it is ours, to save this religion great.

Come together let us all, and for the better, change it's fate.

A corpus let us create, by giving whatever we can, amounts big or small.

To support children three; be it Godrej, Tata, Poonawala, please forward come all.

कितना हसीन है यह रंगीन नज़ारा !

विशाल बहती नदिका सुनहरा किनारा !

और आज मौसम भी है नशीला, बड़ा ही प्यारा ।

चंचल है लहरें उसकी, और तेज है धारा;

उसकी यही चंचलतापे, सागर उसका दिल हारा

उसे अपनी बाहोंमें लेने, फिरता है मारा मारा ।

कितना दिलकश, कितना हसीन है यह नज़ारा ।

कश्ती में कोई, आज शायद मिलन होगा हमारा

सदियों बाद मिलेंगी मौज से मौज; एक हो जाएंगी जीवनधारा ।

नदी चली है सागर में समाने, चली छोड़ के अपना किनारा ।

खिल उठी है वो; पि से होगा आज मिलन, बड़ा ही प्यारा;

दिलकश होगा बड़ा, यह मिलन का, यह प्यारा नज़ारा।

પૂનમ નો ચાંદ ખીલ્યો છે પુર બહાર માં, આજે આકાશ માં.

પણ દેખતો નથી ક્યાંયે, મારો ચાંદ, કાશ એ બી આવે નજર !

ઓ ચાંદ આકાશના, મારા ચાંદ ને આપજે પ્રેમ સંદેશો મારો;

કેહજે, સમજાવજે મારી સ્થિતિ એને, કે ઇન્તેઝાર છે મને તારો.

વક્ત રેહતા આવી જજે, આંખો બંધ થાય એ પહેલાં દર્શન આપજે

રસ્તો ભલે હોય મુશ્કિલ અને કઠણ, પણ તું નીડર થઈ કાપજે.

Time flies, many  things change.
Of these, really long is the range.
Living together is indeed an art.
Like most people intelligent n smart.
Often, eye to eye we don't see.
Yet loving and caring we can be.

Wondering often, how these years 41 , passed in a blink
"Cheers " say we, touching glasses with a clink .
Requesting Ahura to bless us with even ones  better.

Blushed she and shyly said, " may I please have a dance with you"
Quizzically he looked, but
alongside, went on the dance floor too.
Wondered she, how did this happen, how did I gather this courage !
Her friend softly murmured, "he has always been your rage" !

Snuggled she into his arms, felt she, his heart beats, as she leaned a bit.
Lost she was, in her own world, her body around him curled; a close fit.
The warmth of his body, so close to her; it was ecstacy sheer.
She glided gracefully, like a mermaid, as he did lead n steer.

A smile crossed her wrinkled face, as she this did remember.
Remembered she the glow n colour on her face; n that heat like ember.
Just that one dance, had changed her world, be it would a lasting memory.
Precious it would be, as if
a jewel made of studded diamonds in gold and ivory.

ON OUR ANNIVERSARY

Nothing in the same state ever lies,
Situations many change as time flies.
A bud, blooms into a beautiful flower, withers n dies.

Years forty one, in a jiffy have passed by.
Together we faced situations, with laughter and cry.
Luckily Mum was mostly around to wipe our tears dry.

Thank Ahura we profusely for granting Shez unto us.
Also for a wonderful family, who always support us.
Then of course, Phil, Freyu, Zoish completed it thus.

Ahura kind, bless us all, to good humans be.
Kind, considerate, wise, loving, filled with glee.
My wish: my kids marry a Humdin early, n have children three.

जाने कहां गया, आजादी का जज़्बा आज ;

चुप हो गई है, वो "वन्दे मातरम्" के नरों की आवाज़ ।

काश होता जिंदा हमारा वो जज़्बा, आजभी ;

काश गूंजती "वन्दे मातरम्" के नारों की आवाज़ भी ।

कहां गए वो आज़ादी पे मर मीटनेवाले परवाने;

खेली थी खून की होली, वो निडर मस्ताने ;

जाने कहां गया वो जज़्बा वो जुनून !

वो वीरों जिन्हें मिलता था मौत में भी सुकून ।

आज छाई है बेताबी, एक अनचाही उदासी ।

मानो अंग्रजोंने फिर एक बार, छीन लि हो, हमारी झांसी ।

लगता है, मर गई हो एक बार, फिर वो बहादुर रानी,

एक बार फिर खत्म होने को है, आज़ादी की कहानी ।

जागो ओ नवजवानों, गहरी नींद से अपनी जागो ।

जातिवाद, कोमवाद, आरक्षण के पीछे मत भागो ।

माता हमारी एक है, उसको सब मिलके बचाओ ।

ADDICTIONS

Addictions there are of various types some big, some small.

Addictions mostly lead us to self-destruction; bringing about a fall.

Drinking alcohol, smoking, drugs, ***, stealing, addictions we can call.

But discuss some harmless ones we will today.

One sided love, in spite of knowing the hopelessness  is also an addiction, in a way.

Helping, in spite of knowing one is bad; instead of keeping him at bay.

Getting cheated knowingly, is the biggest addiction; though sad !

Forgiving rascals n proudly becoming an idiot, is also very bad.

Giving alms to undeserving;   inculcating begging is the worst fad.

Decide we must after checking angles all, if it's bad or good .

What effects or results our irresponsible actions bring would.

Our addictions shouldn't leave us to repent and brood.

महफ़िल भरी थी, फिर भी भीड़ में, एक दिल था अकेला ।

ऐसा भी नहीं है की खूबसूरत नहीं था मेला ।

थी वहां चेहल पहल, समा था बहुत ही रंगीला ।

संगीत था, थी खुशबू, आलम था अलबेला ।

यह दिल करता नहीं फरियाद, पर दुःख अपनोसे ही उसे है मिला;

गम हैं इस बात का की अपनो ने ही, अपना न समझा; इस लिए हो गया वो अकेला ।

केहनेको तो, अपने थे सभी वहां;  ऐसे तो था सब अपनो का ही यह मेला ।

फिर भी न जाने क्यों, अपनो के बीच, था वो बेचारा दिल, बिलकुल अकेला ।

चलो, नेताजी सुभाष को याद करें हम ।

इस शूरवीर में भरपूर था दम ।

ताकतवर ब्रिटिश सरकार को हिला दिया था; क्या यह बात है कम ?

ऐसे नेताओं की आज कमी है, यह बात का है गम ।

करें श्रद्धांजलि अर्पण इस महा योद्धा को हम ।

चलो आज करें उन्हें कोटि कोटि प्रणाम हम ।

Teach me to kind, loving and caring be
Teach me to, in others, always positive n  good see.

Teach me to happiness create;
By helping others, to change their fate.

Teach me to be innocent like a child.
Teach me to be with everyone considerate n mild.

Elders a little more love, attention n care need;
With our actions, in our children, let's sow this seed.

Teach me to in prosperity, humble remain.
In sorrow, excitement or anger stay sane.

Teach me, to become a beautiful human being;
With qualities good in us, that You expected seeing.

MY THOUGHT I WISH TO SHARE

Not a lion or a tiger, but man, is the most cruel animal.
There are even men some, we call a cannibal.
They eat other men as food, for their sustainance ,  survival.

But imagine killing a new born babe or an unborn foetus !
That's not like eating chicken, fish or an octopus.
I think, we need to bring a change in our attitude, in us.

We terrorise people, or cruelly squeeze them we .
Excruciating pain n torture on others, many love to see!!
Even compel we some poor, to their organs sell for a small fee.

Shouldn't we pause and about our actions think ?
Remember we must, that between God n man,there is a divine link.
Goodness, kindness, compassion in our hearts n minds, may hopefully sink.

बड़ा दर्दनाक है समा, और दर्दनाक उसका असर;

मेरी खुशी पे, मेरी हसी पे लग गई है किसी की बुरी नजर ।

खुश रहती थीं मै, हमेशा मुस्कुराती थी, हसी से खिलखिलाता सारा घर।

पर रुलानेकी, दुनिया ने छोड़ी नहीं कोई कसर ।

क्यों जलती है यह दुनिया, औरो के सुखसे ? बड़ी बुरी है, किसिकी नज़र ।

"सीने में सुलगते हैं अरमान", गाती हूं यह गीत;
प्यार की हो गई हार, और मतलबी दुनियां की जीत।

चाहा था अपनो का साथ, थोड़ासा प्यार;
पर यहां तो चलता है व्यापार, बड़ा कठोर है यह संसार ।

इस से तो अच्छा था वोह भरम, ठीक था वो फरेब;
भले वोह था एक भ्रम; समझो थी वह हमारी एक  ऐब ।
मतलब का होता है व्यवहार;
मात पिता को छोड़ के, झूठा सारा संसार।

આવે જ્યારે વિદાય ની વેળા, છોડું હું જ્યારે આં સંસાર;

આવી તારે, રેહજ ખડો, વિનંતી કરવી ન પડે વારમ વાર.

શ્રદ્ધા, સબૂરી જાળવી શકું, કરી શકું તને ખૂબ પ્યાર,

आजादी मिली नहीं है यू आसानी से; बहुत बहा है, वीरो का खून ।

सलाम करती हूं हर सिपाही को; वाह वाह, क्या था उनका वो जुनून।

याद रखना है; भूलना नहीं है हमेंभी, वो जज्बा और जुनून ।

सोचो जरा, क्या कर रहे है हम; निकाल रहे है आजादी का जनाजा क्यों हम ?

विरो ने है प्राण गंवाए और बहाया है खून; कैसे उनका कर्ज चुकाएंगे हम?

करती होंगी आज उनकी रूह,  अफसोस और बेहद गम, जो होगा न कम ।

एकता होती, होती वतन परस्ती, तो आज कितने आगे होते हम; महकता यह चमन ।

पर हैं यहां देश द्रोही बहुत, बेच दिया है जिन्होंने अपना ईमान ।

बेच रहे हैं अपनी माता को, उसकी इज्जत कर रहे हैं नीलाम, सरेआम ।

Happy Republic Day

Our Mother India, all her children, cannot feed.

Because, huge are their demands and their need.

Also Her farmers have insufficient water n seed.

But if Israel, Her deserts can convert to orchards rich.

And Her soldiers brave, to the world, a lesson preach.

Why can't we, bring about this revolution green here?

Why can't self-sufficient we be? Why can't we change the gear ?

De-urbanisation take place can, villages thrive can; n things  better can become.

If hatred we put aside, n  our National interest see, progress there will be some.

If our Country we truly love, n like a mother, Her respect;

Even our enemies, scared will be of this progress, of this new aspect.

Let's all determine to work apolitically n bring about this change.

In years five, let our Mother India rise, like the peaks of Himalayan range.

"चार दिन की चांदनी, फिर अंधेरी रात,"
सचमे, बड़ी सच निकली यह बात ।
चांद आया था, लेके तारों की बारात,
पर, आया न कुछ भी उस बिचारे के हाथ ।
उसकी दुल्हन, आयी न उसके साथ
थामा न प्रिये ने प्रीतम का हाथ ;
होके निराश, लौट आई बारात ।
प्यार ने फिर एक बार, खाई मात ।
हे विधाता समझ में आती नहीं यह बात;
क्यों होता है यह, बिचारे प्रेमीओ के साथ ?
हंसिल होता नहीं प्यार, लग जाता है आघात ।
पूनम की आश में उसने फैलाए थे दोनों हाथ,
क्यों छा जाती है जीवन में अमावस की काली रात ?

Great minds, where ever they are, even during a travel, never remain sedentary.

FAREWELL

Very excruciating was this night in Jan 2006; really chill;

To see you breathless, almost suffocated and helpless feel.

Even the oxygen flowing in, help you could not, neither an injection or pill.

Helplessness at its peak; going through a losing battle; waste was this drill.

With all the medical aids, comfort you, we couldn't; though everyone was on their heel (s).

To say that final good bye, the time had come; which almost made us ill.

The pain hasn't gone, my heart still aches, sorrow I still feel.

Good bye Mom is all I could say, with tears streaming down my cheeks, upon the frill.

Just when I left you for minutes two, after an entire night's stay.

Consoled me, many people, that's usually the way.

કડકડ તિ ઠંડી, મુશળધાર વર્ષા, કે ભલે ગરમી ભયંકર હોય;
ખળ ખળ વહેતા ઝરણાં, અને નદીઓ તારા પગ ધોતાં હોય.
ઉપરથી બેઠો બેઠો, સમ દૃષ્ટિ થી નીચે તું જોય.
આંધી આવે, તોફાન આવે, મોટા ઝાડ, ઉડે તણખલા જેમ.
પણ તું તો ત્યાં ને ત્યાંજ હોય, અડગ જેમ નો તેમ.
વર્ષા તને પલાડે, મોટા ખડગ માટી ની સાથે નીચે પટકાય.
હોશિયાર માણસથી પણ આવા તોફાનમાં ન છટકાય.
પણ તું તો અડગ બની ત્યાંજ હોય, જેમ નો તેમ.
માનવ જેમ તું ધરાવતો નથી અહમ કે વેહમ્
શીખવું જોઈએ અમારે આવી રીતે અડગ અને અચલ બનવા.
હસ્તે મોઢે, અડગ રહી, હિંમતથી દુઃખો નો સામનો કરવા.

મારી ભૂખ

કૃપા કરી, બસ બેજ રોટલી ખાઉં, એવું જમતિ વેળા આપ મને યાદ.
કરું છુ હું તને વિનંતી; કરતી નથી કોઈ ફરિયાદ.

આં રીતે શરીર મારું રેહસે તંદુરસ્ત ને સ્વસ્થ.
હવે થઇ રહી છું હું, વૃદ્ધ, થોડી વય વ્યસ્ત.

થશે ઓછા ખોરાક થી મને ફાયદા અનેક.
તો આજથી કરાવ મને આં કામ નેક.

સ્વસ્થ થશે તન, ચંચળ રેહશે મન.
ગરીબો ના ભાગે, આવશે વધારે અન્ન.

આં રીતે કરીશ હું ભલાઈ ના કામ.
આં કર્મ થી, જરૂર આવશે સારો અંજામ.

Someone, once said, " I will just remember 12Jan, you remember the rest".
He actually put my memory to test, which for him was the deal best.

Sadly now, all birthdays n even this date he has forgotten;
Now, remembers he, not even me; the idea turned rotten.

Wonder I, in this way, how can someone so easily relations, sever.
Just because they are scared, or dominated by someone shrewd n clever ?

Sad it is, that relations beautiful are ruthlessly put to an ugly end.
For some selfish reasons, destroyed they are. How can you, your dear ones offend ?

HAPPY UTTARAYAN

Wishing you I am, in advance;
Because miss I do not wish to this chance.

With til-gud ladus, undhiyu n jelebi please do celebrate.
Also, different coloured and shaped kites do create.

Festivals are fun, so endanger yourselves do not.
In kite-strings do not get entangled or caught.

Life is very precious; please do take good care.
And this poem, with your beloveds, please share.

Birds like humans; victims, easily become.
Throats get slit; that's why, It's imperative, to take care some.

Enjoy we must, and traditions follow too;
If care taken is, whilst doing so, we won't have to rue.

MY HAVEN GREEN

Lord, Like us Parsis, endangered is my little haven.
Thanks to urbanisation, there won't now be this cavern.

Beautiful natural curtains they made; my green trees.
Gave me shade n cool, soothing breeze.

I will miss the cuckoo's coo, n my imitating; was so awesome !
Oh those many parrots, gorging on my favourite lavender blossom !

Those naughty squirrels running all around, playing hide n seek.
Those colourful birds chirping with their little beak(s).

Miss I will the entire clan of monkeys, with their young ones; oh what recreation !
Ahura kind, please save my little haven n Your creation.

If in the name of urbanisation, keep destroying Nature we;
Only concrete n cement jungles our generation next will see.

I love and treasure my trees;  this patch of green.
Keeps it, our atmosphere clean, peaceful n serene.

Feel I, in the lap of Nature, amidst my greens.
Lord, protect it please, to me a world it means.

A GREAT TEACHER

Some call Him Sai Baba, Guru Nanak or Kabir.
Others say Mahtma, Swamiji, Guruji, or Peer.

Teaches he, lessons of life;
Teaches he, how to handle strife.

Teaches he, to have patience immense.
Teaches he, to be patient, makes a lot of sense.

Teaches he, to have immense faith in Him.
Teaches he, not to perturbed be, when things seem dim.

Teaches he, to be kind n caring to bird, man n beast.
Teaches he, for inner peace; one needn't  go west or east.

Teaches he, to trees plant and flowers grow.
Teaches he, to waste food not; never it throw.

Protectes He, sometimes punishes He, like a father.
Protects He, with care great, tenderly, like a mother.

Lucky His disciple is, whom He lovingly binds.
Lucky one is, if a teacher like Him, one finds.

A teacher or Guru like Him, is precious and rare.
You are lucky if He takes you under His wings, His care.

खुमारी

बिना नशे भी, छा जाती है खुमारी;
लग जाती हैं यह,  नशीली बीमारी ।
यह है प्यार का नशा; यह है कहानी हमारी तुम्हारी।;

अफसाने यूहीं नहीं भर देते हैं, आंखो में पानी;
देख लो इसे, समझो इसे, आंखो की जुबानी ;
हमने तो इसे है सुनी, देखी और मानी ।

"नहीं नहीं, मानू ना मै इस बारेमे; प्रेम न नशा है न खुमारी ।
यह प्रेम तो बस है एक रोग , एक अनचाही बीमारी । "
"पर मुझे दिखती है साफ, तुम्हारी आंखों में, प्रेम की खुमारी ।"

खुशियों का असर

बागो में फूल मेहके
आंगन में पंछी चेहके,
खुशी फैलाए हवा के ठंडे लेहके ।

बिन पिये, चढ़ता है नशा, जाना मैंने आज;
बिना उंगलियो के, राग भी छेड़ते हैं साज !
सुरीली लगती हैं मुझे आज मेरी ही आवाज़ ।

होता है जब दिल-ओ- दिमाग खुशी से तर बतर
नाज़ुक खुशबुदार कलियों से भर जाता है दामन, या बिस्तर !
हवाओं में फ़ैल जाती है खुशबू, माने बिखरा है अत्तर ।

दिल ने कहा, "यहीं तो है खुशियों का असर" ।

बादल

उडू हवा में, बन के एक बादल
कहीं खुशी से हो जाऊ न मैं पागल ।

मुस्कुराऊं देख के दर्पण या झिल
मानो, मिल गई है आज मुझे अपनी मंज़िल।

खुला है आकाश, जागी है एक आश;
बनके पंछी, उड़नेकी जागी है आज प्यास ।

पिया का आया है आज पैग़ाम, एक खत;
लिखा है कया उसने, मुझे पूछना मत ।

इस खत में, एकसाथ मेरा है और उनका भी है नाम
और चाहूं मै क्या, मेरे लिए, अनमोल है इसका दाम ।

यह सब मै, अपने पिया को लिख न पाऊ;
इसी लिए, कोकिला बन के, सुरीला गीत गऊ ।

सुन लेना पिया मेरी आवाज़, मेरा मधुर यह गीत ।
बस इसी में है मेरे प्यार की, मेरी प्रीत की जीत ।

जागा है आज दिल में यह कैसा उमंग ;
लगता है, आज मैने जीत ली कोई जंग ।
आज खुशी से पागल है, मेरा अंग अंग ।

नाचु मै बनके पंछी, खुले आसमान में ।
या खो जाऊ कोई मस्तीभरे गीत- गान में ।
मन चाहता है, करू कोई शायरी, तेरे मान में ।

पर करू क्या, आ न सकु तेरे पास ।
बुझा न सकु मै, अपने दिल की प्यास ।
पर जंग जितने का है अब मुझमें विश्वास ।
