Mom's unveiling was almost a year ago
All I could do was hug your monument at the cemetery
Didn't want to let go.
Hate visiting there.
You should know that because other than once you visited.  
Mt. Hebron to visit your father.
You never returned as far as I know.
You have missed so much and I miss you more than any poetry books I will write.
Daddy, I am a published writer.
The tears are falling harder this year because your 95th birthday just passed and we can't celebrate or spoil you
Taken from us far too soon fifty years ago when you were
Forty-five
Still need a community to be a writer
Thought I found it but still unsure.
A platform for exchange is needed but not my decision or choice.
You taught me never to believe or use the words I can't in a sentence or my mind.
Still, sometimes that fifteen-year-old girl talks to a stone.
Hoping you hear me because her father died from a heart attack as she watched it happen.
That little gray dove on the railing this morning sat there as if it was hugging me and drying my tears.

Ebony petite Ducks,Egrets,Seagulls,and Swans
Happily swimming and
eating
Flying into the blue
Still wishing I could join you
Jumping and enjoying the breeze
You've got to be carefully taught is an old song
With older lyrics and thoughts
You’ve got to be taught to listen,read, and see
Think carefully and use common sense
Be aware and true to yourself
Hopefully adults and children will contiue learning

School is not the only place to learn
Everywhere and every opportunity to be taught better

Learning doesn't stop when school
ends
Learning doesn't need a building called school to make it happen
A diploma isn't a stop sign
It is a ticket to adventure and journey
Sitting behind a teacher's desk and a student's
These words come from experience and experiences
There is always the first and the next time
The word never doesn't apply
Be open

On his collar

Flowing slowly
Streaming angrily and rapidly
Reminding us of joy and pain
It’s simply the way it goes
Sometimes it is necessary
Otherwise in expected ways
A cleansing of sorts but usually in a shower alone
Kleenex and towels befriend you
Until you are able to smile between the sobs

No competition with the rain
Needed an ark
They fell for someone long gone
Yesterday comes to haunt you and you are unprepared

We cry for those we have lost and will forever love
The next time the rain falls no matter the pace
No matter where you might be
Take it as a sign ,feeling, or reminder
Knowing in your heart
That they too are crying for you
So look for that rainbow that they send to make it a better day

Car picnics with take out Chinese food
Watching airplanes depart and arrive
Wishing you were a passenger
Dreaming of the day every wish came true
Tender moments on freezing cold Christmas days in New York City
Or any major city in the world for that matter
May I wish you these tender moments as well
As waking up in the arms of the love of your life

The adult still loves carousel horses
The Nunley's Carousel resides in a museum on Long Island
The amazing Billy Joel saved it and had  it restored so adults that were children and remember can ride it again as he did

How they wished that humans would stop saying rain,rain go away and blane them for that and snow

So their friend the Sun noticed the day the clouds cried

School is a building, not the only place for learning
Trips happened every month when I taught
Museums, Outdoor events, anything to capture an imagination
Many parents did not take their children anywhere
According to the kids
As much as I could, we did something about it
The library was not visited by many
With permission, they visited once a week
They got library cards
Parents complained, not returning books, not paying fees
Never anytime
So when we visited weekly
Books were returned
A young librarian asked if she could work with my students
Not only was this weekly, but some students were her interns after school
Some went home to a lonely home, or hung out wherever that was
The Key was to meet a member of the community; they never would have
Hopefully, I opened more than a door

After yesterday, not sure of anything any longer
The exception is my duty as a citizen
