The last ember glowed longer than it should have
Staying in her arms pushing yourself  away just in time
She just needed some tenderness and you were a good friend
I saw it out if context drove me out of my mind
Wish I could take it all back and put the last behind
You never meant for that to happen and denying it just made me fly away
There is no tomorrow for both of you and nothing new about today
Moving forward just seems the way to go
We have more memories to share as if you didn’t know
Just let me in when you need a little space
It’s easier to dream when I am looking at your face

Henry David taught me well
Hiking on Walden Pond brought it forward
Nature and her children sing and frolic
The thunder and lightning and storms worn us she us a force to be reckoned with
Enjoy the sky,the wind
,waterways,oceans,predators and prey
As you sit in awe and enjoy the vistas and bounty
Remember we should care ,protect,and  respect everything around us

It is the Ides of March
The cirrostratus,cirrocumulus,and cumulonimbus stratus were
All bunched together in shades of white and gray witha touch of silver for good measure
Some were tiredi of their admirers inelicopters and airplanex
Even a duvc on tbe roof of a  tall house seemed to take notice
How they wished that humans would stop saying rain,rain go away and blane them for that and snow
Out of their control
So their friend the Sun noticed the day the clouds cried
How she wished she could dry their tears without burning thrm

Bunnies, Squirrels and Birds getting a taste of the nuts and goodies left them before the rain and snow.
Sad to think they are ignored, and people don't stop to look at them and share their wonder.
That wonder has never left me.
So Facebook is not as entertaining, and some chats are beyond boring.
Visiting a zoo in the Winter months and any time of year is still a joy.
They are the pets I can't have at home due to a loved one's severe allergies
A Hypoallergenic dog came to visit and we learned the hard way that we can't have dogs around or go to homes with them
Dog charities are my way of having a pet
All Little and Big Creatures I will always love you and visit

It is a friend
Does not judge
Listens without comment
Is always there for you
Keeps your secrets and never shares them
I have been writing since I was eight because there was nobody to talk with or understand
Many latchkey kids know of this but back then you wore a key on your neck and did what your parents told you to do
Talking back was not an option
No time for friends or afterschool events
You did your homework , chores, and prepared dinner before microwaves
I am proud to be a Poet

Not clothing
Not makeup or paint on wall
Not a new suit or dress
Or nothing at all
No joy or celebration
No blue balloons dotting able sky
No rainbow sprinkles delighting a child on an ice cream
Beyond doom and gloom
This makes Depression look happy
The decision was adequate and then there was no goodbye
No note
No bridge or body
of water to search
The police could do nothing but close the building where another took their nobody life

Heaven has a new angel.
My father,her father,and other family members will welcome her
Others will take issue on things she said
and how some were hurt and forever changed by narcissism on her part
In 91 years on this khaki coil,she saw her children and grandchildren get married.
Greeted her great grandchildren in 2018 and recently in 2020.
Her spirit soars in lavendar blooms.
The monarches will always remind us thst she never really left us
She made her mark not like others but on her own.

Realize what you failed to see long ago
Even though a loved one tried to steer you straight
Is it easier to hurt than to decide you deserve to live your life happier and whole
They broke you down
Pick up the pieces
Discard what does not work
Find a direction that feels right
So you are a do Gooder
So you care more than others
So you are sensitive
They don’t have to like it
What about you liking yourself?
Enjoy your life
Maybe this time
You can be you
Let them be who they are
Even if they are family
Ever family has people like this
You are on the right side
Right side
Too sweet
Too kind
Too good for your own good

When will it be your turn?
You can be good and exemplary
but somehow you are second best or come in third place
Getting out there is one thing
Getting yourself out there to stake your claim is quite another

Dealing and admitting that your anger has become a disease is the first step
A medical illness
Mine started when I was 14 and ended in my late thirties
Luckily somebody loves me and stands by my side
He told me that I had to move forward and find an answer
You get the correct help and plan on what that is and what it will do.
You become an active participant with your healthcare providers
You will improve if you give it time and actively work on it
It does rear its ugly head from time to time but you are in control
We chose not to do the meds route and found talk therapy
Poetry saved my life and continues to do so
The magic is that the poetry has brought joy and help others
Making Peace with the pain has brought me a gift that keeps giving

reminding me how important school is
Dying on a bathroom floor on the lap of a 15 year old me
We had few memories
Photographs faded and updated with better technology
Wounds heal for some
Mine are scars that reopen and try to heal again
Harder still because Mom is with you now and will fill in all the blanks
Somehow August 23 rolls around and that 15 year old still cries out and the tears wont dry
Just as we were saying Hello , it was a forever goodbye
Maybe that is why I am rainbowchaser looking for you in the sky

When  you come full circle
Revolving doors can be painful
Watch for sharp corners that might deter you
That includes people and places too
Others lurk where you least expect them
Shut the doors behind you for those who stayed awhile but their time is up
The no longer play a role in your life
Be grateful they were there at all
Take that deep breath.
You earned it.
It took a lot out of you to reach this intersection and plateau
You crossed it
But know that you did but don't revel in it for too long
It served its purpose and  down the road it will be a private smile that only you will recognize
Just remember this when you come full circle
You now know what matters the most so take care of yourself
Those that will always be there for you are in reach even when you
are out of touch
Just look over your shoulder

How do you summarize a life?.
You have much to remember while you are letting go to Nature and a universe we still kmow so little about
Stars and planets.
Asteroids and life we have yet to know and may
Never meet
Never say never
As much as we need to move forward
Celebrate and be joyful
You  find yourself going through the photographs and memories of a story that has ended
Moments are fleeting and yet when things happen that you can't
Explain or accept
Your head shakes
Your tears fall
That life will always live in your heart
Grateful that you were lucky to have that loved one grace your life
The monument is not for you or the dearly departed
There was a brief shining monument when she walked amongst us
Now she is with loved ones who left before she did

Stay home and take care if you have a medical or health issue
Condolences if you have said too many goodbyes
Take care of yourselves
If gyms are closed
Walk, bike, jump rope,dance
Just get up and move every day
If you have not had a manicure,pedicure, hair service message etc
Either learn to do it yourself or hire an at home service
If not deal with it
Joe Biden is our next President
If you love or hate our elected officials please silence yourself
It is beyond deafening
Zoom meetings and get together are great but they don’t beat in person
Seeing and spending time with family and friends is a treasure and gift
You know your UPS,FedEx,and Amazon service people by first name.
CNN and MSNBC are your choices for entertainment
Some  watch FOX or have access to a multitude of streaming services
If your libraries are open and disposable income or lack  of one is an issue utilize them
Volunteer in person or  virtually to a. Charity or organization of your choice
They all need your help
Please stop ranting,raving ,commenting on Social Media
Prejudice and ignorance are overdue and lost their prime and need
Let them go and  adopt kindness and sensitivity
Think what you want but keep it to yourself
You really don’t know what others are dealing
with
Be patient and caring
Wear a mask
If you don’t grow up and wear one anyway
Free ones are available at Police precincts and Firehouses
Even in many parks
Stay safe and well

Mom's unveiling was almost a year ago
All I could do was hug your monument at the cemetery
Didn't want to let go.
Hate visiting there.
You should know that because other than once you visited.  
Mt. Hebron to visit your father.
You never returned as far as I know.
You have missed so much and I miss you more than any poetry books I will write.
Daddy, I am a published writer.
The tears are falling harder this year because your 95th birthday just passed and we can't celebrate or spoil you
Taken from us far too soon fifty years ago when you were
Forty-five
Still need a community to be a writer
Thought I found it but still unsure.
A platform for exchange is needed but not my decision or choice.
You taught me never to believe or use the words I can't in a sentence or my mind.
Still, sometimes that fifteen-year-old girl talks to a stone.
Hoping you hear me because her father died from a heart attack as she watched it happen.
That little gray dove on the railing this morning sat there as if it was hugging me and drying my tears.

Losing three special people in a matter of months was enough
Now almost three years have come and gone.
Losing the three of you isn't easy
The phone rings and imagining hearing your voice again
Getting an email
Knowing these things will never happen again
Knowing that it is in my mind and heart
Hoping that there are better things ahead to look forward to but losing  my mother, a mentor, and a dear friend within three months of each other requires a lot more than coming around the bend
The truth is I have and continue to do so because you would expect nothing less of me

Just missed and for the time being that is the way it is
Somebody noticed that I give to charities and never take anything for it
They give you free treats which others might want or need
You only see the surface and never really know what is going on in another's world

Still speechless, I am reminded that I am rich in family and friends

Driving to JFK dreaming about the places we would travel to
Walking the World’s Fair grounds and gazing at the Unisphere
A memory from childhood

The Belt Parkway, the beginning of us
It is not the end
We just have to keep traveling on other highways
Somehow when we are on the Belt Parkway Nassau or Suffolk bound
It reminds me of how we began
September 14, 1979 introduced me to the best person that came into my life
1980 seems like yesterday but is part of us today and tomorrow

Gray
Nasty day for Spring
The squirrels were wet and freezing
Hoping for something to eat
No success just yet
She came by left the shelled roasted nuts in three places near trees in the park
One squirrel summoned two others
They feasted as their human walked away
Watching quietly in the rain
Here's to sunnier days and more caring humans

They visit when least expected

Hiked it without boots
Tore my heel and learned a life lesson
Own hiking shoes now
The almost December Bluebirds greeted me appreciating the quiet
Listening is a very important skill for a writer as well as observing
Frolicking squirrels decided to have an acrobatic performance
Rocky, Skippy, Peanut, Jif and Skye had a great time
Male and female but don"t get close enough to tell
They are all a little different
Keeping a safe distance but when that roasted peanut bag of shelled unsalted nut opens they seem to come around
Some play hide and seek and climb down from their trees when the human is clear
Watching from a distance it is clear what Henry David taught me and my students long ago
When I touched his desk that day at the museum and walked on Walden Pond
I was thrilled to be an educator and to have taught Walden
As a poet, he taught me more about Father Sky and Mother Nature and I am still learning with joy and respect

A hero that teaches us lessons too young for his tears but with an older spirit.
My wish is that Brittle bone disease leaves this planet.
