new beginning
Silva Mee Aug 10
she quietly sits on the bench
focusing on one question
a question she has recently
often asked herself but not been able
to find a workable answer for

how do I begin again at this stage of my life?

this question has been haunting her
and kept her awake during the night
and lost and depressed during the day
she has tried to push it away
but it creeps up again and again

watching her I realise
that her question
is also my question
and just like her
I am still searching
for a workable answer

Silva Mee Aug 7
she is sad
as nobody seems
to read her poems
she has much to say
but her words remain unheard
not knowing what to do
she begins to wonders
if she really is a poet
or just pretends to be one

no hope
Silva Mee Aug 1
she listens to the cars
passing by the window
soon the church bell
will have struck twelve times
welcoming a new day

but when she hears
the bell‘s joyful sound
sadness creeps into her soul
as she knows that
nothing has changed

my sister and I
Silva Mee Jul 18
I look at you and wonder
why our roles have changed
but just when I begin to worry
you hug me and smile
I can feel your love
reaching my soul
and making it dance with joy
and I understand
that it does not matter
if our roles have changed
as long as the love
we have for each other
has stayed the same

top of the mountain
Silva Mee Jul 9
she stands
at the foot
of the mountain
longing to reach the top
I can see that fear
is holding her back
so I take her hand
and begin walking with her

the invisible wall
Silva Mee Jul 8
every day she comes
sits down at the corner table
sips her coffee
and looks forlorn

I want to sit down
next to her
and to smile at her
to change her expression

but every time I try
I hit the invisible wall
she has erected around herself
so as not to be disturbed

change of direction
Silva Mee Jul 7
she is desperate
nothing she attempts
leads to success
she tries hard
to achieve her goals
but she always fails

I feel sorry for her
as she does not realise
that trying hard
but always failing
simply means
she should change direction

hope
Silva Mee Jan 7
she walks through the streets
without knowing
where she will end up

left right and left again
up and down
and straight ahead

she follows her soul
hoping that she will find
what she is looking for

Christmas
Silva Mee Dec 2024
it is Christmas

the little boy
happily playing
with his shiny new toys
is oblivious to the
dark cloud that envelopes
his parents

I am sad as I sense
that this might be the
last Christmas
when both parents
watch him play

advice
Silva Mee Aug 2024
it does not matter
what they say

if they say
you are crazy
smile

if they say
you are a dreamer
smile

if they say
you have lost touch with reality
smile

if they say
you cannot write
let your words flow

soul mate
Silva Mee Jul 2024
in many ways he was like
all the other men
she had loved and left before
but there was something about him
that felt different
exciting and mysterious
it made her shiver
with delight and expectation
but also anxious
as she discovered a longing in her
she had not experienced before
this unknown desire alarmed her
and she feared loosing control
I need to quickly decide
whether to leave him or
to succumb to my desire
she hastily thought
yet there was no rush
her heart had already decided
as this time she had met
her soul mate

playing the piano
Silva Mee Jul 2024
she plays the piano
thoughtfully
rationally
concentrating on hitting
the right notes
there is no passion
or joy in her playing
the only thing that matters to her
is playing the piece
from beginning to end
without any mistakes
I am watching her
waiting for the moment
when the music
will capture her soul
and merge her body
with the rhythm of the song
at this point
she and the piano
will have become one
and mistakes
will no longer matter

your smile
Silva Mee Apr 2024
when you smile
I see the little girl
who was full of awe
about the wonders
of this world
had a sense of adventure
a believe that
anything was possible
and could be achieved
with lightness and joy
seeing you smile today
makes my soul dance
with happiness
as I can see
that despite  the challenges of life
the little girl has survived

his mug
Silva Mee Mar 2024
I watch him
shaping a mug
on the pottery wheel

fully concentrated on the task
he firmly pushes down the clay
and then gently pulls it up
to create the perfect mug

I wonder if I will feel
his strength and gentleness
when I drink from his mug

after the last stroke
she writes down
her resolution
for the new year:
to be true to herself
