Aphrodite almighty your reign is eternal
Love, lust, and war, power infernal
Strength in fragility, politics by charm
Eroticism, motherhood, and armies that harm
A simplified picture the masses are sold
Can not erase your reverent powers untold
Aphrodite almighty hear our prayer and return
For your prowess and touch daily I yearn
- Inspired by Overly Sarcastic Production's video on Aphrodite

Swathed in cloth of gold
Strokes for wolf and lions tamed
Charm him with her cups

You know what time it is! Another haiku ^-^
Thanks again for all the love and support! I saw Hekate was trending for a while, im really grateful! 🙏
Todays haiku follows another woman of myth, the Enchantress Circe, another woman I adore.
Ive read so many myths about her as well as Madeline Miller's novel, Circe (a fantastic read and adaptation of her story - her writing is impeccable. A definite recommend!)
Her role in the Odyssey I've always found somewhat charming, as charismatic as enigmatic as Hekate in a way. And I always try to be playful when conveying sensuousness also hehe!
Thanks again everyone, it truly himbles me to see people enjoying this series! 🙏💜

Mistress of Crossroads
Death sings loud on moonless nights
Palms towards the stars

New day, new haiku! This one is for Hekate, Goddess of Magic and Crossroads.
I just adore the stories around here, theres an enigmatic charisma that surrounds her. Just some magical pull she has...
Honestly, I cant express how much I love her enough, haha!

Her glare pierces true
For she always comes to light
Bitter yet so free

Another day, another haiku!
This one is dedicated to Alethia, Goddess / Spirit of Truth.
I k how there isn't much on her, but honestly, I appreciate this goddess because shes rather prevalent in our day to day lives.
Weve all lied about something and to get out of the truth, we cover it with more lies. But the truth has a way of always coming to light, and it can be bitter, harsh and hurtful...it can set us free.
Theres a beautiful elegance to it really...

She of molded clay
Fingers trace the wooden ***
Poison whispers sweet

You know what they say about curiosity and boxes, this one is dedicated to the one and only Pandora.
Even when she ket curiousity get the best if her an unleashed so much negativity, she also released hope and that alone will see us through.

Merry Jul 2020
Eve ate the untouchable apple
And was made to leave Eden
With Adam, beside her, and his child

Persephone ate the pomegranate
And was made to stay in Styx
With Hades as her husband

To stay or to leave,
I want a man to eat fruit with,
As lovers, loyal and sublime

She of moonfire
Entranced by her sleeping prince
Hands on heart, serene

This haiku is dedicated to Selene, Goddess of the Moon.
I love Selene for many reasons but what cemented my love for her was none other than Sailor Moon!
I love how their story is depicted in the manga and anime, Usagi and Selene will always have a special place in my heart.
Of course I grew up with the myth of her crushing ******* Endymion, Zeus granting her wish to keep the Shepard ageless while in eternal sleep and she sired 50 daughters which really weirded me out. So Ive somewhat rewritten the myth in mind.
Even so, Im grateful for Selene.
As much as I'm a logophile and biblophile , I'm very much a selenophile ^-^

Sheer silks rise and fall
Pleasure wrapped in dulcet tones
Joy beads down her brow

This haiku is dedicated to Hedone, the Goddess of Pleasure.
Other than her being the daughter of Cupid and Psyche, there isnt much on her either. Pleasure has many connotations, mich like her own name also so what better way than to play around with it!
These haikus sure are fun to do!

Merry Jul 2020
A star-crossed son was born
To the father whom he would ****
And to the mother whom he would kiss
In incestuous, marital vow one day

Welts upon his feet
Found in the forest, a baby crying,
He grew wise and wrong
Unaware of a conspired world

When Oracles did speak to him
As drunken men and and as pretty women
He took their words upon his heart
Without eyes gouged and necks broken

Open eyes looking, truly seeing,
He did bear the revolting truth
Without nary complaint
To the Gods who cursed him

Thus, it was Laius who lived
And it was Polybus who died
And it was Jocasta who did not see
Her son at the bejewelled altar

Rather, it was Merope, with her head turned,
Who saw dear Oedipus at the altar
Obeying the Will of the Gods
But to what ends?

He was meant to punish; to defy; to incite all evils
Not adhere to this cruel destiny
And now it is the wrong mother-wife
Whom he kisses, unravelling, in linen sheets
anyone else wonder about what would happen to these characters' fates had Oedipus obeyed his fate? it wouldn't work, of course, because Laius had to be punished but still. I'm curious.
