One day you'll look in the mirror
and see your beautiful face there,
then you'll miss the compliments
about you, that I did before.

Someday you'll look in the mirror
and see your ocean eyes there,
then you'll miss the waves of love
that I drew before at your shore.

One day you'll look in the mirror
and touch your soft cheeks for sure,
there you'll feel the paint of my hand
that I colored before as a dreamer.

Sometime you'll look in the mirror
and feel your sugar lips with a finger,
then you'll find a heavenly taste
that I enjoyed before, but not anymore.

One day you'll miss my love in tears
and maybe you'll look for my answers,
but you are happier now than before,
therefore, my soul gonna be quiet forever!

Caged birds do not sing

Until they are given a voice

Do not fly

Until they learn to find their wings

But with patient nurturing,
they will grow from meek and timid things

From quivering chicks hiding in the shadows
Into a fledgling

Preparing to take flight into a sky of endless possibilities

When the day is done
For the day
And the thoughts settle
In the quiet of the night
The thoughts find a resting place
Picking up the peculiar
And particular moments
The day had
When it had just begun
Rolling out the perfect hours
And those
Wasted, like an amateur
Trying to find the best time
Losing out
Swears by the alarm
At leisure
Counts the seconds and every minute
To cherish
Through the day
Together
The hands only met twice
Rest of the time, stretched wide
Apart
Running around in circles
Shrugging shoulders at ten past ten
The clock says
What is done is done

I had fallen in love with her at first sight
a six year old with eyes
moist with dewy tears
she stood among the other whining kids,
picked up from the compost heaps of life
her slight brown hair was tied
at the back into a ponytail.

in her torn pink frock and delicate frame,
she looked a fading rose.
on her face was the pain of desertion
with no Dad or Mom to kiss away the tears
or hold her close to the heart

the building with its cracked walls
had an aura of ruin about it.
everything, so shabby and stinking
and it was there that I met her

but among the many, locked up like caged birds
why did I single her out?
may be her cute look and seraphic innocence
made her so special!
even after I had left that place,
my thoughts kept returning to her
and I decided on making her happy somehow

the second time I went there,
i carried some knick knacks
and some sweets for the children to munch
also a parcel colorfully wrapped and tied with a ribbon
when I called her aloof
and handed that small gift,
i watched the twinkle in her little eyes

as she opened it with fumbling hands
curiosity peeked on her face and eyes
finally, when I took out the glossy frilled frock
she squealed in delight and clapped her hands.
saw her face aglow with excitement and joy.

into her bleak world I let out a flash of delight!
A personal experience.... the memory of which I still cherish.

Words sliced
Diced and cubed
In a skewer
Some went into the stew
Chomp them away
Serve them chilled
Or slightly spiced
Many like theirs
Just on the rocks
Some like them sweet
Bitter there is no choice
To swallow and yet not wallow
Never once, forget twice
Words have a flavour of their own
How do you like yours
Grilled with the right spice
Maybe plain
Sans any dressing
Yeah, some like it minced
Each to their own
Words on the platter
Served just right
I like it raw uncut
Organic, fresh from the farm
Sometimes
Well done on both the sides
One can wish as one wants
Priceless the words
As ordered and served fine

Poetria
malice becomes sweet to taste
tucked under a tongue, behind pearly white gates

if you spent some time with me
your heart would grow too whole, too red

once a landscape drowned in sentiment
now you hide from change, fear violent rain

i've been cursed, losing sleep, far from land, sky and sea
and worms have been birthed inside all of my best dreams

i stir and i am haunted, hollow, eaten, starved, a half
each waking hour flashes by until the world turns dark

we join for a meal, and i'm counting teeth again
we join for a meal; you hide your hands away from me
maybe part 2 for bloodworms in the water, and other horror stories

i want to love you
like a lazy sunday morning
staying in bed
taking our time
sipping coffee
memorising every freckle
like the constellations in the sky
white sheets
and tangled limbs
with the scent of a memory
fresh on our lips.
