Mother; has a love that knows no bounds

When you need them they are always around

They live in a special place in your heart

They are present all your life through every part

Mother; she knows just what you need

Hurt or sad, scared or alone, she's a doctor or nurse indeed

Mother; shelter in the storm, star to guide the way

Whatever the case, they know exactly what to say

Mother; anchor when you're adrift, wind to fill your sails

Living though you when this earthen vessel fails

She's a teacher, a healer, a sage, and a friend

So much love and compassion, so strong through the end

Mother; a fire in our hearts, a song on our lips

Our Inspiration,

Our Hero,

Our Role Model,

Our MOM!

Oh, Most Loving Heart upon which I gaze
Illumine my soul and set my own heart ablaze
I sing to you though no words could surmise
Your beauty undimmed by the new sunrise

Oh, Most Loving Heart of Christ the King
Be pleased to receive what I have to bring
Bathe me in your most blessed glow
So that I can reflect your radiance where'er I go

Oh, Most Loving Heart with grace beyond measure
Neither Heaven or Earth holds greater treasure
Endless mercy and gift of surest peace
Life will pass away, but your love will never cease

Oh, Most Loving Heart pierced upon the cross
I weep with you as the world felt the loss
My spirit weeps for joy as you live again
And flows over as the ink from the pen

Oh, Most Loving Heart as I sit enraptured
As a fish in your cast net, I am captured
But here I feel I am more fully me
As I swim along in the current sea

Oh, Most Loving Heart be one with mine
To you, my head and heart shall incline
At your feet I will sit and, still more, recline
Before the presence of the most divine

Oh my soul rejoice be joyful in your King
For He is good and has created everything
Oh my soul take flight and soar above the clouds
In the air that fills your wings let go of any doubts
Rejoice in the one who made you and calls you his own
He has found favor with you and made his home
Oh my soul be still and quiet and free
It is in those places that you will find your God to be
Reach up to Heaven ascend to Him on high
Be at peace with the glorious divine sigh
But he who sits on the throne is also very near
And as I sit one thing seems quite clear
Rejoice my soul in every time and every place
Because everywhere you look is the Lord’s face
He loved you so much he died to show
That his love is real not just a show
He died so you could be set free
By his Hands and Feet nailed sin to a tree
Rejoice my soul for your God is risen
To break you out of spiritual prison
Rejoice my soul for healing in pain
Life in death and loss is gain
Sing with one clear voice
Oh my soul rejoice

One
We are one heart, one body, one mind, one soul
Your goodness and mercy, as one, we extol
You are found in me as I am found in You
And all my dreams are becoming true
My flaws are perfected in your divinity
Truest expression of love Oh Blessed Trinity
Let your will and mine be of one accord
That I would live in harmony, not discord
Help us be as one. One faith community
And, in all things, help us sow peace and unity
We are one body in Christ, and we do not stand alone
For His love is made manifest, His Life is made known

Be merciful even as your Heavenly Father is merciful
Thy kingdom come thy Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
The Father who loves us died for us and paid the debt we could not pay. May we strive to be merciful, loving, forgiving for the small things. Let us be like Jesus to others. God is LOVE. The reason the world does not know God is because it does not know LOVE. And what is Love? Love is patient, love is kind, slow to anger, protects, trusts, hopes, believes, perseveres. Love never fails. Forgiveness is a great weapon. It disarms, diffuses, stuns, kills hate, squashes vengeance. It heals and sets free, but surprisingly it most often frees us. If someone can forgive you for something and move forward, never think for a second that God can’t forgive you and hasn’t already. God is so much better and so much more merciful and loving by far! The challenge is you need to learn to forgive yourself. God, help us to be merciful, forgiving, loving and kind to all, especially those who probably don’t deserve it. In these moments Lord, remind us gently that we didn’t deserve your mercy, forgiveness, love and kindness, but you gave it anyway and we aught to do likewise. Amen

One day more until the work is done
One day more to work and sweat and pray
One day more to rise with the morning sun
To wake and greet the Holy One

One day more to shine the light
One day more to spread the love
One day more to see with His sight
To know He is smiling up above

But it isn't just for one day more
To minister to the widows and the poor
He is with us now and forever more
So, dear friends, what are you waiting for?

We are sent out to the ends of the earth
We are sent to proclaim each one's worth
To preach the Gospel of Good News with great joy
In word, thought, and deed, His praise we employ

We are loved by the Father, saved by the Son
Filled by the Spirit, the three in the one
We are His children beloved in His eyes
He is our portion, and He is our prize

So, what do we do? Where do we go from here?
It seems to me the mission is quite clear:
Proclaim the name of God to all people and nations
Be bold, be courageous, and rejoice in creation

One, the only, but sometimes one is all it takes
One, the light, that through my window breaks
One, the love, that died for me, a wretch
One, the arms, on the cross are outstretched
One, the wounded heart, that bled for me
One, the God in three persons: Holy Trinity
One, the peace, that is so profound
One, the home, that my heart has found
One, the light and love of the Lord
One, the hour, He is rightly adored

In the end we'll all make it to home
You aren't left out no matter where you roam
Everyone is welcome in God's heaven
The perfect example is 9-11
God owns a place in every person's heart
He has and will love you right from the start
Whatever you to has an impact on someone's life
For better or worse for relief or strife
One home sweet home to come to
So many chances to start anew
Life doesn't change to meet your needs
God is like the gardener pulling out sin like weeds
Trust and follow and obey your gut
Don't get too carried away and dig yourself a rut
Everyone needs support, encouragement, a lift
Every person should be loved just like a good gift
Home is so sweet but it can get a bitter taste
Savor the sweet and send off the bitter with haste
You have changed my life for good I wouldn't be the same
My time had no purpose... until you came
You keep my hopes up ever high
You always encourage me to touch the sky
Set goals, pass them, make another
These poems to me are almost like a second mother
I just feel safe behind these faithful words
I let my emotions sing like little morning birds

It's been a long day; I'm stressed and worn
A little frayed around the edges but not quite torn
Someone makes a comment, I hear some bad news too
And my world, perpetually sunny, sees a touch of blue

It's not the end of the world, it's not really a big deal,
It doesn't usually bother me, but that's not what I feel
This will not stay for long, this feeling soon will pass
To dissolve and to disperse on the wind like gas

The light will give these clouds a chase
The negative feelings are soon replaced
Peace, love, and joy will once more embrace
And a smile sweeps widely across my face

As I remember
My great Defender

He is stronger and bigger than my problems big and small
I recline at table in the great feast hall
I come running and He holds me close to His chest
Sometimes I cry and stay there a while I confess

The sun is beautiful and it hardly ever rains,
But peace and healing are found after the pain
And this I also know:
A little rain makes the flowers grow

So here I stand in the sun once again
I give thanks to God and then say: AMEN!

There are many ways to fast and many things to fast from. The gospel from Matthew helps to unravel the deeper reason for fasting. One is to give up something pleasurable like eating, drinking, watching TV, or being on the phone in order to bring our minds and hearts to remember Jesus' suffering. We can also recognize how good we have it and that many people have so much less. What little things can we do to help them? By fasting from these things that give us pleasure and satisfaction and take up so much of our time and attention, it allows us to quiet our minds and our hearts to connect with God and hear his soft voice. In fasting from a meal or part of a meal, we can become hungry. This hunger can be a reminder of the time that Jesus was in the desert after his baptism with nothing to eat or drink. In the "Our Father" we ask God to "Give us this day our Daily Bread". God will provide for all of our needs both Physical and Spiritual. Our hunger is physical, but it can also be a reminder of our spiritual hunger and the ways we try to fill the God-shaped holes in our hearts with things that can never truly satisfy. Fasting reminds us of our need for God and helps us to be dependent on Him in everything. We are called to be His children. Should we not, then, depend and rely on Him to be the perfect Father?

Lord, when we fast from things this Lent, open our hearts and minds and in your mercy, reveal to us the deeper value of it. Help us rid ourselves of the distractions in our lives in order to draw us closer to you. And while fasting is good; it alone is not sufficient. In the void of giving something up, help us to do something good, something pleasing to you Oh Lord. May we all "(Finally Find) What We Have Been Looking For". May we all find you!
Amen.

Who am I, but one?
Who am I from anyone?
I am small and weak
I can't do everything
So tell me: why should I try?
One can't change the world
And I am only one.

Who am I, but one?
Not just one, but some one.
I can walk and speak
And I can do something
So tell me: why not try?
I can change someone's life
And I am some one.

Who am I, but one?
I am someone
Who can do something
For someone else.
I can't do everything for everyone
But I can do something for someone
So I will not refuse to do
What I can do for one
And what I wish to do for all

Who am I, but one?
I am one,
But I am not the only one.
We can do great things
When we work together
When we are one

I fall on my knees and pray

At the start and end of each day

"Here I am. Are you there Lord?"

You hear my cry and pleading Lord.

I come slowly; crawling to your throne

Broken, ashamed, lost and alone

You stand before me in all of Your glory

Before I can speak You know all my story

You reach down and lift up my face

Dry a tear from my eyes; wash me with mercy and grace

You bid me to rise, then smile and open Your arms

You hold me and love me and all of me warms

You know I am sorry, I know You forgave

With Your help I can behave.

All this time You knew and were waiting

To welcome me back; loving not hating

And then a thought crept into my heart:

You were with me right from the start!

Lord, help me be open and present
To your will and your love
Even when I only hear silence
Grant my soul peace and my mind calm
As I am before you, open and present
And still, I know you are with me
I know you are near
You are faithful now and always you will be
I will remain faithful to you
It has been thirty-four days on this journey to you
And somehow, I'm still blown away even though I knew
That it could happen that it would happen:
Forty-six days forty-six brand new writings
With twelve days left and Holy week fast approaching
Help me continue to be open and present
That you for this gift that is heaven sent
That you for the trial and transformation of Lent
That you for the preparation and peace of Advent
That you for this daily living
For the breath that you keep giving
For the bread by which we're fed
For the light by which we're led
Thank you for the gifts you bring
Thank you, Lord, for everything
Lord, help me be open and present

Amen

Open hearts and open hands
Help us do what love demands
To give of self to serve and uplift
True love is the most precious gift
To lay down one’s very life
To make the ultimate sacrifice
We must have open hearts and open hands
There is peace and comfort where love reclines
And it lives in a house big enough for all mankind
With open hands we both give and receive
And together marvelous things they can achieve
From Jesus side both blood and water flow
To unite once more heaven above and earth below
The nails that pierced his hands and feet
Now the act of love was complete
We pray Lord Jesus let our hearts be open wide
That upon your grace and strength we always rely
Let our hands be opened not closed in anger
And in the storms of life your love is our anchor
When we live with open hearts and open hands
We will not seek first to judge, but to understand
Though, at times, we may wander and go astray
We are never too lost to be found if we pray
Open us Lord to see in others what you see in me
With open hearts and open hands we are setting prisoners free
Giving food to the hungry money to the poor
Never turning someone away from the door
Clothing the naked and visiting the ill
We pray most of all Lord, help us do your will
These are all important but help us not forget
What matters first and matters most I bet
In all we do to pray and act with open hearts and open hands

Reform me from a life of sin and shame
Conform me until only you remain
Refine me so I more closely reflect you
Redefine me with purity and truth

Oh you are changing yes rearranging
The pieces of my heart
And you are taking and even making
A priceless work of art
But it’s confusing what you are choosing
And I don’t understand
Come and find me and remind me
That it’s all part of your plan
I am waiting still hesitating
The path seems all unclear
The way to go I think I know
I’m having trouble leaving here
Is it fear that grabs my heart
Is it doubt that stills my feet
Is it sin that ties me up
Uncertainty that clouds my eyes
But perfect love drives out fear
And I trust that you are near
In your mercy you gave your life for me
I once was lost in darkness but I finally see
Your love is my life it’s where I can be found
And one day I know, I’ll know joy and peace profound

There is a key to sanctity
Something we all can do
It's nothing extraordinary
All it takes is simply you
It is in doing good and being kind
The best you can where you are
It is the simplest things I find
That you can do both near and far
It is ordinary people living ordinary lives
Doing ordinary things with a love so great
That, from a most joyful spirit, drives
Such sweet love and rebukes all hate.
Sanctity is but ordinary greatness
It seems too easy, too simple: surely, I jest
But sometimes it happens I must confess
That the simplest answer is really the best

Lord, help me to do good in my life at all times, in all ways, and in the places where I find myself. Help me to serve and live well in a simple and ordinary way and bless me so that all I do may be done with great love and in a way that gives glory to you. Amen

How awesome our God who knew us from birth
How mighty our God who can make mountains low
How wise our God who taught the wind how to blow
How kind our God who hung the sun in the sky
How loving our God who hung, bled and died
How merciful our God who did so to save
How deep God's love that He rose from the grave
How rich our God in kindness and love
How worthy our God who sits in heaven above
Yet our God is neither distant nor very far
He lives within you, right where you are
And another He sends to guide and inspire
To manifest love and set ablaze a holy fire
Let his hands be yours and your feet to use
Your mouth His instrument to tell of good news
Let all you have and do be done to glorify

When I am down, you make my darkness light
You melt my frozen heart with your burning fire
You greet me when I wake like the morning sun
When I am lost at sea you are my Northern Star
Guiding me home again, waiting like a candle
Brighter than any diamond you shine

You blind me and astound me how bright you shine
I gaze upon your beauty as you radiate light
You glow as though you are a soft candle
I am consumed by your wild fire
Your hair is like the sun and your eyes sparkle like a star
You warm my bones with your life-giving sun

I thrive in the constancy of the sun
With you at my side I can go through rain or shine
Ever constant ever true my ever fix-ed star
You bathe me in your soft warm light
I am cleansed in your purifying fire
You honor my memory with a memorial candle

Nothing lasts forever: a sacrificial candle
One day death will come even for the sun
The evening sky ablaze with celestial fire
The sun sets and the moon comes out to shine
There is balance: good and evil, darkness and light
I know all of you like I know every star

In your arms, we dance across the sea of stars
The millions of twinkling lights couldn't hold a candle
Shadows run away at the brilliance of your light
Against you, my dear, your light dims the sun
My love for you will always shine
You will burn strong and steady, an eternal fire

Here we sit side by side at the fire
A canopy of sky and a blanket of stars
Even in this darkness, still you shine
Bound together in the light of a single candle
Staying up just to greet the morning sun
To see a new day born to pure and glorious light

Our prayers, like clouds, hover in the air
Filling the room with fragrance so fair
In the presence of the most High God
Surrounded by a cloud of witnesses
And a sea of saints and angels
We dare to sit before the King
And, to his feet, our petitions bring
A day in the halls and courts of Heaven
Are better than a thousand years apart
And even a few minutes changes the day
If I can stop, give thanks, and pray
Lord, I want to give you all control
I want to let you lead me to green pasture
But I am so weak and fragile
I am comfortable with my vice and sin
It is by your grace alone that sets me free
To realize all you have called me to be
Make me mindful of your great love
And your awesome affection

From the ashes of the dead, new life is born
And hope will rise like the sun on Easter morn
The same fire that ravages, gives warmth and light
The same fire that destroys, on a candle, is a welcome sight
We will rise again on the wings of the dawn
We will dance with the joy of a newborn fawn
It is a chance to rebuild, restart, and renew
To see what beauty lies hidden from view
From out of the ashes, we will rise again
We say: "Let it be done" Amen
From the crucible of fire, we will survive
Having been purified, we will now thrive
The loss is real, but it mustn't feel
Like the end. It is a brand-new start
And the memory will remain here in our hearts
I truly believe that out of the ashes we will find
Evidence of something profoundly divine
That in its wake there will come a grand revival
An awakening of faith that will have no rival
There will be a day of great jubilation
Where people will come from every nation
To join hands and hearts as sister and brother
Where peace resides and we love one another
From these ashes, I pray we will remember
That life is fleeting, and life is a treasure
But we will rise above the ashes and dust
To find something in which we can trust

Some days are crazy and I can get overwhelmed
Caught up in the flood and demands of my life
My patience wears thin and I’m a bit on edge
Sometimes I feel like I’m standing on a ledge
But you remind me of your presence at all times in my life
You are steady when my world is spinning round and round
I cling to you like a drowning man does a rope
I run to you and in your arms I find there is hope
Some days when I think about you I get overwhelmed
Overwhelmed by your great love for me
Overcome by wonder and awe at your greatness and power
That you create the universe and the littlest flower
When I think upon your sacrifice it overtakes me
No greater love than this than to lay down one’s life for a friend
To image you call me friend after all I have done
But in your love for me you sacrificed your own son
When I come before you in the Eucharist
I receive your body and blood
Heaven meets Earth in marriage consummated
And there in my body new life is created
You overwhelm and satisfy my soul
And yet in my humanity I often look down
Help me draw my gaze to your loving eyes
To focus on you and my ultimate prize

You are part of something great I know
Always spreading joy wherever you go
Part of something bigger, part of something great
You are something special and I can't hardly wait
Give a little money, help a little poor,
Something very tiny can grow to so much more
You have to take in the whole thing to see
Why you are here and what you will come to be
It doesn't waltz in, you have to answer the call
Just helping people isn't nearly close to all
You may not know, but you changed my life today
Made my whole time better in each and every way
I am happier now just because of you
As to why you make me feel this way, I haven't got a clue!
Answer me this question: tell me true, don't lie
How you made a difference and don't forget the why!
If I lived another billion years
If I cried another billion tears
Nothing could ever change the fact that you're my friend
You always stuck with me to the very bitter end
I feel more safe when you are around
If ever I am in trouble you are always found
When you are close at hand I feel stronger
With your faith in me I can hold on a bit longer
I am there for you now and for always
I am beside you walking in the hallways.

Help me to take it easy and not hurry
Help me quiet my anxious mind
Grant me peace if you are so inclined
Lord help me learn that in stillness waits
The keys to unlock heaven’s gates
Lord help me hear that still small voice
And block out the extra noise
Help me see with the eyes so tender
And eyes to identify the great pretender
Lord give me the strength I require to do your will
And when I need to wait, help me just be still

Lord be the food that fills and sustains
And remind me that only love remains
Walk with me in the daytime
You tell me “You are mine”
Hold me in your arms at night
Wrap me ever in your light
You are great beyond all measure
And giving you glory brings me pleasure
You are holy and powerful mighty are your ways
You alone are worthy of all my thanks and praise

Your faithfulness never falters or fails
Your word is the wind that fills my sails
Your hands of healing bind the broken
Your arms to take us in spread wide open
Your heart so full of tenderness and care
Your constant presence everywhere
My soul sings for you, a song springs from my tongue;
The words pour down like drops of rain when your praise is sung
I love you Lord my God for just what you mean
More than the fact that you restore and redeem
I love you for all that you are to me
I love you for who you are shaping me to be
I love you lord for more than words can ever do
I love you Lord for everything, I love you Lord for you!

The end of the day is drawing near;

The winter of my life: so cold, white, and barren.

The night is constantly pressing onward,

Dark is folding me in its wings.

Calling, softly insisting, inviting.

The tug (like that of the moon on the sea) it lulls.

Moving slowly towards it...

Closer....

I pause.

A small light has made itself known

What is this? What will happen? I wait.

Slowly starting to see something: pictures- moving like a movie?

Yes, I remember! These are my memories: what little is left of my world.

There are so many pictures: some good and bad, happy or sad,

Everything in between.

Spring:

Childhood days of fun and play, sports with dad in the yard,

Ice cream days with Grandpa,

And Grandma’s stories.

Tuck-ins, and good night kisses, momma cooking (YUM!)

And teenage years- full of rebellion and independence:

Searching high, low, everywhere. For identity and who I am.

Summer:

The joy! The burning passion! Of life and love in their prime.

So many changes of both bad and good: girls, loves, and many heart breaks.

Marriages.

Children.

(What a Roller-Coaster!)

Playing cards and drinking with “The Guys”

So busy being a good husband and (hopefully) a great dad.

Playing sports in the yard with my kids

Like my father did with me when I was young.

Fall:

The kids have gone off to college now...

Starting lives of their own.

Been to many a marriage and too many funerals

Of friends.

And people whose lives were cut short.

(they died so young….)

Relaxing at home and traveling too.

The kids now come to visit a few times a year.

Slowing down...

Coming         to                        r  e  s  t…. *

(ooooh: the midday nap in the worn comfy chair on the porch)

So nice and soft- sink in and slip away *(ahhh…)

Winter:

To end where we began:

Grandpa.

Treating grandkids to movies, ice cream (like my grandpa did with me).

Grandma’s passed away, a cane, still at home trying to stay sharp.

Trying

(and failing....)

Things blur and blend as the body falls apart- eyes, ears, legs, mind (a few).

Darkness of age clouds my being. Outlook is bleak and things are looking grim...

Never Surrender! And so-

I fight!

(or try)

But it’s no use...

So warm...

inviting....

I accept the end and what will very soon be.

The pictures stop. No more light. I step.

Still closer now

Feeling the pull. The pulse: as if the dark is alive! I step.

Standing at the edge of darkness. 1 breath and I step.

I am here. I smile: it is all over! Peace at last.

Peace be with you! Peace, I leave you, my peace I give to you.
Do not be afraid, but trust in me.
Amen, I say to you: happy are those who believe and have not seen.
For surely, "Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and the evidence of things not seen".
And with Peace like a River; sweet peace of God, flow over me.

Abba, bless me, so in all that I do
In all things, I may give glory to you
Grant, I pray, the peace and the grace
Content to be still and gaze at your face
I love to sit by your side and listen to your voice
But so often I'm restless: distracted by noise
Rushing around in perpetual motion
When I need to be in perpetual devotion
God be my joy, come and be my light
Come to my aid; rescue me in my plight
By rising to life, the flesh, you glorified
In the shadow of your cross I will hide
In death, you overcame both sin and grave
Your love for me was strong enough to save
Be my one love, my God, my King, my Prince of Peace
Satisfy this holy hunger and ever increase
You take us back even when, your love, we spurn
You come running out to meet us on our return
You are my inheritance and my worth Oh Lord
You reconcile us to yourself with one accord

Peace be upon you. Be still my soul
Without it, I can never be whole.
Be still my heart and rest in your King.
In Him, and with Him and through Him
Comes every good and wonderful thing.
With the Father and Holy Spirit in union.
With one word he calms the wind and waves
Or holds me close while the storms rage.
"Peace" he says. "Peace. Peace."
"Let it go and find the true release.
Do not be afraid, my child, do not fear
I will comfort you and dry every tear
I love you yesterday, today, and forever I will
So, hush my dear. Peace. Be still."

Peace be upon you and your home
Blessings and graces abound
The love of the Lord goes wherever you roam
And wherever you are may he always be found

Grace to you and all your kin
Glad tidings and good news we bring
A man like us in all but sin
Born this night; Heaven and nature sing

Rest easy tonight, do not be afraid
For one has come to save us one and all
Shepherds and wise-men in homage paid
A bridge builder breaking down walls

Hail full of grace the angel said
You shall bear a son and call him Emmanuel Jesus
Let God’s will be done in me Mary prayed
Understanding how God sees us

Peace on the earth and good will to men
Let it start with me and then
Let all who look at me see this light
Shining like the star on that first Christmas night

May you be at peace now and always
May you never run out of thanks and praise
May the God who made you draw you close
In the love of Father, Son, and Holy Ghos’

Peace in the sea, the air and the land
Peace to the people, the flock of His hand
Peace to all nations their leaders in power
That we would have peace and safety in this dark hour

Forged with the refining fires
Of passion persistence and pressure
It is a gift, a treasure beyond measure

Do not grow weary or tired when praying. Find strength and persevere in your prayers and petitions with good faith and they will be granted according to the perfect will of God. When you are feeling weak, lean on others and seek their support and encouragement. Look to the Lord for he is our strength and our help. There are several examples in the Bible concerning the need for persistent and perpetual prayer. Abraham having to keep his arms upraised in prayer for his people to have favor with God and win a battle. It went on so long that he had a few others hold his arms up when he grew tired. Luke's Gospel also demonstrates the efficacy of persistency in prayer when a judge grants a woman's request simply because she kept asking, and, in the story of Saint Augustine, he was a prodigal son; a rich ******* and toying with the devil (the occult). His mother prayer for him to return to his faith daily for forty years! It finally worked. It is encouraging to hear that, with faithful consistency, prayers are heard and can be answered even if it takes a really long time. Praying "always, without ceasing" sounds like a pretty tall order. It is, but it's easier than it sounds. Often, we think about talking to God and maybe listening occasionally, saying the wrote prayers we memorized as kids and that would be hard, but our lives can be a prayer: our working, our resting, our playing, our singing, our everything. Everything can be a prayer to God if it is "offered up" to Him.

Lord, let our lives be lifted up as a prayer to you. In the most heroic act, to the most mundane task, let us offer it up to you. Like the song says: "Everything I do, I do it for You". Help us live and speak, and think and breathe in your truth and, by your grace, when people look at us, they really see your face. Help us pray without ceasing and ask for our faith increasing. I see that, sometimes, the waiting isn't you hesitating but teaching us virtue and faithfulness' value. Amen

You are the cornerstone, the living rock upon which I build my foundation of faith, the spiritual house for the spirit of the Lord to indwell.

There is a way to the Father.
There is a way through the Son.
Open my eyes to see you,
Open my heart to the truth.
He will prepare a place we can stay.
To stay close to His heart is to live forever.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God, have faith also in me."
"I will take you to myself that where I am you may also be."

When the world falls to pieces
And life is crashing down on me
The walls close in and I’m falling fast
And it’s so dark I can’t even see
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Couldn’t put my heart back together again
Lying there like so many shards of broken glass
These are all a result of my broken past
From the midst of the shadows you step into view
My first thought is: it’s too good to be true
But you kneel and pick up the pieces one by one
Until even the smallest is collected and it is done
Then you rearrange them so careful and so sure
I watch; captivated by the mystery and allure
You have softened some edges, others are still cracked
Here was my heart yes, but it was different in fact
I still saw the scars the memory of pain
But the bitterness and anger did not remain
A feeling of peace settled over and for the first time I saw
The bigger picture overcome with awe
I see the good and the bad more clearly defined
I see how I am beautifully wonderfully perfectly designed
This is my present, the future isn’t set in stone
I can change, I can learn, my choices are my own
I look ahead with newfound hope on my present circumstance
That with every new horizon there comes another chance
To be the best that I can be make every moment count
Together there is no challenge that we can’t surmount

All have been given different God-given gifts
To choose to use to grow to show
The love that we receive and the faith that we believe
To bring His kingdom down right here right now
To change the world, to change the lives
To change our very hearts and minds
To speak and act and think and pray
To make the most of every single day
Let His light shine through you
That you glow for someone who
Was lost and wandering
Someone searching for something
And maybe your gift and offering
Is what picks them up off the ground
And turns their whole world upside-down
You could be the answer God sends
Upon your loving "yes" a soul's fate depends

Praise him for his greatness
For the wondrous things he has done
Praise him all you peoples
In the sight of everyone

Praise him for all creation
For it’s beauty and it’s wonder
Praise him every nation
With voices loud as thunder

Praise him all you children
Pure of heart and full of joy
Praise him for he lives in
Every little girl and boy

Praise him for his mighty hand
Praise him for his loving heart
Praise him for the good he has planned
Praise him for his works of art

Praise the Lord from whom all blessings flow
Breathe deeply and live life well
Praise him for the rain which makes us grow
And for his presence even when we can’t tell

Praise the Lord for he is good
Worthy of our love for he gave us
His life when no one else could
Unworthy, still he forgave us

Bring me Oh Lord nearer now to Your Heart
Help me know you a little deeper than before
Help me love you a little deeper than I did
Help me to dance with every part of me
Help me to sing with every breath I have

Bring me Oh Lord nearer now to Your Heart
All that I have you gave me. All I have is Yours
Help me use what you have given me to give back to those around me
Help me to live a little closer to how You lived
Help me Lord when I am strong or weak

Bring me Oh Lord nearer now to Your Heart
Help me Lord that I may be humble and meek
Help me Lord that my soul be clean and my heart, pure
Lord let me seek to understand; to listen, to love
Let me seek to be patient, kind and compassionate

Bring me Oh Lord nearer now to Your Heart
Enter into my body and soul more completely
Consume me with Your mercy, love, and likeness
As I consume You may I see with clearer eyes and heart
A greater, more complete, and more powerful understanding;
Of the most beautiful, glorious, and mysterious gift you give

So to come a little nearer now to Your Heart

Let my words fall like drops of rain upon the thirsty ground
Let the joy in my heart be felt for miles around
Let the song from my mouth be as sweet as wild honey
Let me give treasure more valuable than money
Let my praise fill the sky as beautiful as the morning birds
Let me paint a beautiful picture from the gift of my words
Let my prayers rise up like the sweetest perfume
Let my light pierce the night and the darkest gloom

Prayer For Called and Gifted

Jesus you are the savior of the world author of salvation and creator of the universe and all good things. We are so small and frail and yet in your goodness you saw it fit to give us so much and to raise us up to more than we can be. You bestowed on your people different, beautiful gifts and call us to use them for others and for you. You have called us each by name and given us unique gifts, each with an integral part to play. You have given us a purpose and a reason. You have given us a passion for life. We are called to be beacons of hope, bearers of light. As wheat only produces fruit once it dies, may we also die to the things that hold us back from experiencing the fullness of your love for us. Help us Lord to be good stewards of the gifts you give so abundantly and so freely that we would be diligent, responsible, and humble as we try to live your love out in the world. You said to your apostles: "Go forth and make disciples of all nations; proclaiming the gospel by your lives and baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit". Lord, bless the people in this room; send your Holy Spirit and let it come to rest in our souls. Guide and lead and teach us along the journey of life to use our gifts that you gave us "for the greater glory of God". Just as we pray for ourselves Lord, we also pray for all those in the church and throughout the world that you would help them realize and utilize what they have been given to make this world a little better and to further your kingdom right here and now. May we all be a "blessing for life and a blessing for Christ"! We ask this and all things in your most beautiful and precious name. AMEN.
Prayer i wrote for Called and Gifted program at my church, but this poem is really for everyone.

Lord, there has been so much anger, violence and death lately; so many innocent lives lost. It breaks my heart; I know your heart aches for them as well. You, Oh Lord, are the Great Comforter. You know our suffering and pain for you suffered too for us on the Holy Cross. Lord, help us unite our pain with yours and offer these sorrows up for the grace and peace of those victims, their loved ones, and especially for the souls of those who hurt so many. Mary, mother of God, you were no stranger to sorrow. Comfort and console us as we grieve the loss of our children and, in your mercy, help us cling ever tighter to your Son our Lord Jesus Christ that we may not lose our faith in God or in humanity. God, give us the courage to move forward, give us the grace to forgive, and give us the strength and peace to heal. Amen

For those that fight for the rights of others
For those that stand up against injustice
For those who defend the faith
For those who seek the truth and fairness
For those with wisdom and eyes to see
Bless and keep them safe Lord
Remind them of your presence
Let them act with Justice and yet be merciful
Let them not judge too hastily but look for the good inside
Protect their minds and hearts
Against discouragement and cynicism
Let your love fill them, the Holy Spirit guide them
They have great power, help them use it responsibly
On this day we celebrate St. Thomas More
Patron saint of lawyers, adopted children, those who work in the courts
By your grace and strength may they too be
The “king’s” good servant, but God’s first
The work they do is often hard and difficult to see an impact
Please remind them that they are making a difference
That what they do DOES matter
Put people in their lives to give them encouragement and support
People to turn to on the hard days to carry them
Bless all those in the court system as they work to bring peace
For they are the children of God
May we all be like children living with faith hope joy and love
Grant them and all of us Oh Lord the spirit of Wisdom and Understanding
We ask this and all things in Jesus the Christ your son who live and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit. One God forever and ever Amen.

Lord, on this holy day in which we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday, we reflect on your love and guidance for your people as the Good Shepherd. You call us each by name and your sheep know your voice and follow you. There is so much noise in this world that distracts us and pulls our attention away from you and your loving word. Lead and guide us and keep us safe from harm. When we are lost and we stray, you bring us back to be with you again. We are a community; a living body united by you. There is strength and safety in numbers. On Good Shepherd Sunday, we pray for our clergy and especially our priests that they would be good leaders, protectors, and providers for their flocks. We pray that you give them strength, courage, and wisdom to do what is necessary. We pray for their safety and peace for, without their good guidance and council, we would be lost. Thank you Lord for giving us our Shepherds and I pray that we thank and recognize them for their leadership. Help each of us look to you, Lord Jesus, as the model and example as we try to follow what it means to be Good Shepherds for those around us. In this regard, we pray also for those in positions of authority and power that you would put good influences in their lives to help them choose the best good. Jesus, you are the Shepherd of our minds, hearts, souls and lives. Thank you!

Amen

Prayer for Peace

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on us. Forgive and heal us, especially in the Holy Week leading up to Easter. We have fallen so far and turned away from you. There is so much death and suffering and sorrow. You know this pain intimately. We need you Lord more than we realize or care to admit. In your perfect love for us you gave us free choice and we need to accept the consequences for our choices good and bad. There are so many innocent and faithful who are suffering as a result. Take pity on them Lord and have mercy on us all. Lord let all be done according to your will not mine, but I would ask that through the intercession of your mother, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, through your Most Sacred Heart, the heart of the father Joseph, God the Father and by the power of the Holy Spirit, you would show this world a sign of your love. I pray that as the sun rises on Easter morning in the fulfillment of the hope of the Resurrection and new life that we would have hope and peace. Send your Holy Spirit to fill our hearts and flood our lives and move us to act with compassion and understanding toward all of our brothers and sisters in Christ and every one we come in contact with. Be with us always Lord help us to love one another and you as you first loved us.

I ask this and all things with confidence to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and through the intercession of Mary our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament and Joseph her most chaste spouse.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. AMEN
