It's Wednesday, April 2, 1997, at 12:00 PM
I took a Greyhound bus to Des Moines, Iowa
It was a six-hour profanity demon hellride
At 6:00 PM, the Greyhound bus arrived at the Des Moines bus station
Two of my music fans picked me up and drove me to Fort Dodge, Iowa

Hell Greyhound bus ride
Hell Greyhound bus ride
Hell Greyhound bus ride
Hell Greyhound bus ride

At 2:00 PM on Friday, April 4, 1997, I went on a radio show joyride
I whipped out my Technics KN3000 keyboard and sung four rock songs on 88.1 KICB
At 6:30 PM, I rode with my friends to Knights of Columbus for sound checking
At 9:30 PM, I got up on stage and sung twenty rock songs in front of 200 rock fans

Hell Greyhound bus ride
Hell Greyhound bus ride
Hell Greyhound bus ride
Hell Greyhound bus ride

At 11:20 AM on Saturday, April 5, 1997, I caught the Greyhound bus to Chicago, Illinois
The Greyhound bus left Des Moines, Iowa at 11:30 AM
It was an eight-hour profanity demon hellride without music
At 7:30 PM, the Greyhound bus arrived at the Chicago bus station
I then got off the intercity bus and yelled like a stupid fool

Hell Greyhound bus ride
Hell Greyhound bus ride
Hell Greyhound bus ride

Kinkos, it's the new way to office

The hour of midnight of tomorrow dark
A vision like a stark
Fog thickened like solid mug
A Greyhound Bus Terminal ghostly in spiritual nature
Yet adding to the mystery appeared a Greyhound Bus
Driver and passengers were in nothing more than past spirits
They had often travelled this road many times
Flesh wasn’t there mark
It was a Greyhound Bus that just decided to park
The characteristics of the Greyhound Bus was the blinking lights
It became a circumstance contributing fright
But it will be a thriller starting tonight
The Stretched out Greyhound dog trademark with Evil on its mind
Car and Truck Drivers witnessed the disturbed revengeful Greyhound Bus on the highway
It was the look being the last highway to hell
The Blood was flesh thrown off the highway by the Greyhound bus
Most of the flesh had previously died
The spirits were on a rampage at Greyhound
Bus Dispatchers were announcing agendas and not schedules
The roll call being an assignment to destroy
There was no more happy in joy
The night was had a evil twist being fierce
The Greyhound Bus stretched had Dracula teeth and eyes being Red
A thirst to fulfill but with acceleration at will
There’s no time to be still
There was definitely evil powers having everyone being hypnotized
But it was the obsession of the Greyhound Bus under control
The number of the Greyhound Bus 1811
Years ago something on that one
The bus got into a terrible accident
Everyone died but Souls would return with a rage against the living flesh
Midnight will soon strike
Souls who died on that Greyhound bus 1811 will arise and walk the streets in rage
Midnight has struck and it’s too late
It was written on that very date
A hound bus will be bound and there will be no one sound
The town of Jeffersonville know all too well about the Greyhound bus curse
No time for any written verse
Souls have risen
Greyhound bus spiritual revenge having no wait
Again, it was anticipated
A night that would come
Don’t travel on Greyhound bus 1811 restored
There might be an evil plan having an accord.

Road mighty and king
It was always Greyhound doing its thing
Flashing lights and the stretched hound
Move out the way traffic and move aside, I am Greyhound
Greyhound being America’s Icon
But these days, First Group has became a con
Greyhound has a name that captures hearts being fond
What would happen if Greyhound were no longer on the road?
The sunrise and Sunset would have no behold
It would be a darken highway
No Greyhound seen on any freeway
A sad day with Greyhound losing its bark
But with no bus you will find a place to park
The Go Greyhound could become leave the driving to someone else
So avoid the bus would actually be a fuss
First Group is selling Greyhound being the Parent Throop
Silently and quietly unnoticed scoop
Employees including Drivers have made Greyhound it’s own institution
But I am not making Greyhound a conclusion
Time has a when
Thinking only in assumption of then
Now wait until
Greyhound still has travelling to fulfill
Where there is a way is followed by will
Now no one knows Greyhound’s future outcome
I am not even suggesting Dust in the wind
A Hound Dog will always have victory to the finish, and that is what makes Greyhound so distinguished
So those flashing lights and your acceleration
It’s America saluting you with all your appreciation
Continue to Go and the road is your flow
Go Greyhound and let me lead
Greyhound I want you to continue to proceed
Please don’t become a flood that receded
We need your presence and acceleration in the wind
Your blinking lights that flash every now and then
You are Greyhound because you can
This is not Greyhound’s end.

In the distance, I see a Hound bus cruising down the country road
The stretched out Greyhound dog in front of the bus with look and behold
Now watch as numerous stories unfold
I hear a Greyhound Driver narrating his tail of his stories surrounding the hound bus
I will narrate a couple for you
Our story starts in Topeka, Kansas enroute to Kansas City, Kansas
The bus left on time during its usual run schedule
However, the weather started getting rough
Driving in the wind and rain made it really tough
A Tornado could be seen in the distance destroying everything in its path along the farmlands
Yet that Greyhound bus steadily kept moving
But the fierce violent winds were blowing
Suddenly, the Greyhound bus got a lift
Up in the funnel of the Tornado the Greyhound bus went far from any drift
However, a miracle took place, and the bus was slowly let down gently to the ground
The Greyhound bus remained in tacked and nothing but praises in God’s thanks was the sound
This is my account of another story
I was travelling from New York City to San Francisco, California
It was a vacation being a 4 days journey and New York City back
We had just crossed the Nevada state line being a rest stop
A Young Woman went into labor on the bus
The Driver was counting the contractions, but we all knew what was going to happen
This was supposed too be an 30 minute rest stop, but turned into a 2 hour rest stop
Luckily, the bus was near a major hospital nearby, and an ambulance was summoned
The EMS carried the Pregnant Woman on a stretcher off the bus and her Boyfriend (Husband) followed
Later, the bus pushed on, and I arrived at my final destination ahead of schedule into San Francisco
Another story tail
This time I was travelling to Los Angeles from New York City
We stopped in a Ghost town
There were tumbleweed flying everywhere and shutters were hitting all the houses along with wind blowing
Yet, there were no citizens in the town
Meanwhile, it was 6:00 AM in Arizona
Suddenly, all the passengers wondered who was coming aboard
But everyone was thinking thriller oh my Lord
A Male Passenger boarded, but spoke Spanish
He was drunk and wanted to sit with anyone, but passengers refused
So he had to go to the back of the bus where the restroom was
He talked from the time he boarded until we arrived in Los Angeles
So Greyhound is more than a ride, it became an adventure
Stories upon stories
Go Greyhound with its own storyline
The venture being the bus, but no need to fuss
Greyhound is the American Frontier and that involves us
What is your Greyhound traveling story?

The Greyhound name that got around
Across the country are terminals and small depots that are found
But the Greyhound name is still destination bound
Greyhound travelled roads when roads didn’t even exist
Oh that stretched Greyhound dog that no one can resist
The trademark known worldwide
The travelled miles
The varying paint schemes
State too state and town too town
Oh yes, that Greyhound continues to move around
Greyhound’s history full of achievements
Elements were always the test
But our Greyhound Driver training says it best
“DRIVE WITH PRIDE”
The customers will enjoy the ride
Greyhound is a company anywhere bound
Hear engine and watch on the highway in the Greyhound sound
Departure with an arrival
The vast of Greyhounds to just marvel
Greyhound has been doing for years
It all started with Anderson and Wickman rugged pioneers
If you want proof, look at Greyhound’s track record
It seemed Greyhound wouldn’t survive
Yet Greyhound weathered many storms
It was far from any norm
The Greyhound Bus Company continues being the highway journey
It’s name being worthy
So Greyhound continues to be on the move
The wheels are rolling and operation being everything to prove.

The story of an actual Retired Greyhound Bus Driver
Mr. Hufford who died being 100 years old
It’s his amazement in behold
Mr. Hufford was the Go Greyhound showed with pride
His driving experience being his commitment in stride
Mr. Hufford saw an opportunity and didn’t try to hide
The 100 year Greyhound Bus Veteran logged in many road miles
His own public address announcement being his own style
At this driving for Greyhound in while
Mr. Hufford weathered many storms
He gave the passengers don’t worry I will keep you from harm
But he had a personal connection with all his passengers
Now Mr. Hufford was part of Greyhound’s own milestone of 100 years
He was the inspiration to other Greyhound Bus Drivers in continuing to preserver
Throughout his years in the Greyhound bus drove, you would often find his uniform always prepared to perform and shoes shined for passenger inspection
Mr. Hufford wasn’t a speculation, but was simply being the indication
He prospered in his years here on earth
He brings new life to people and Greyhound as a new birth
But the Lord called him home being the chosen Greyhound example
Mr. Hufford’s name was written in the clouds being ample
He was a humble old soul
Mr. Hufford’s was given new heights and not being a plight
This was a God’s promise being allowed
A spirit driving a Greyhound Bus around Heaven
All Aboard, Thank you Lord and just applaud.

Well Mack being a Bus manufacturer had an idea for a new design highway bus
Yet the world wondered what was all the fuss
The MV-620-D was a new prototype bus
It all engineering that would be a plus
So Mack MV-620-D was given to Greyhound to test
It was going to be an observation better or for less
So Greyhound put the bus into regular schedule service
Reaction from the traveling public was certainly obvious
Greyhound tested the bus in 1957 being the year of my birth
The Mack bus traveled on the West Coast
So there was reason for everyone to boost
There was admiration by most
Greyhound put the Mack MV-620-D through the highway paces
However thought the bus was in a race
But throughout the test, optimistic with plenty of uncertainty
It was drive into the ride
Research in what would arrive
Yet test after test, Greyhound concluded that the MACK MV-620-D wouldn’t fit in with it’s fleet
But imagine, Greyhound would have a bus and they could compete
But it turned into defeat
Yet now it becomes a retreat
But Greyhound chose not to have the MV-620-D as a prize
But what Greyhound didn’t realize
A new design for the Greyhound enterprise
The MV-620-D could have truly been a success because of the engineering structure from front to back
But Greyhound felt the bus had a lack
The front looking like a highway bus, but the back having a auto look being the track
Yet Greyhound had the global name and could have encouraged other bus companies to purchase the MV-620-D to their fleet
Now this would have been neat
However, Greyhound being the beast
The MV-620-D was a release
Your writer has seen the MV-620-D up close and personal
A friend of mine actually owned it, but sold it overseas
What’s in a bus name?
Mack history in what will remain
The MV-620-D had potential
But Greyhound would have had the first original.

The Hound having a strong moving bark
It’s ironic with being a solid ironman stark
The name Hound is actually Greyhound
It’s the Greyhound bus that has been around
It was once those shifting gears in motion sounds
But always moving from town to town
Highways have often seen the Greyhound trademark passing by
All one has to do is give Greyhound a try
Since then, Greyhound has a milestone of 100 years
In between there were questions in would Greyhound continue with operating fears
The end seemed ever so near
But Greyhound kept focused and preserved
Well as the years rolled on, Greyhound continued in the plan in being the transportation mode of the land
Today Greyhound is known as the blue bus
A trademark in travel and movement in no fuss
We marvel as the Greyhound presence is always known
But it’s your daily operations you always have shown
You’re the same Hound that always welcomes aboard
But it is your influence in helping passengers be assured
Like it or not
This is not an advertising plot
It’s all about giving Greyhound the traveling spotlight shot
A well established company that is still around
Greyhound is still transporting with any destination bound
But with all that I will leave alone
Greyhound your years have gone far, but it is the reason not needing to travel by car.

It was the hour being the mile
It was all that during while
Headlights flashing to passing hound bus fellows
The Greyhound bus in taking passengers in destinations being direct
After all it’s the Greyhound bus in the ride you would expect
The motor coach engineer being the Greyhound driver in tipping his hat
Driving with precision and smoothness like a moving cat
No matter what the storm its Greyhound in don’t be alarmed as we will push on
It’s the highway with routes where Greyhound belongs
But what matters most
It’s Greyhound moving coast to coast
Now this is something that passengers do boast
It’s those Greyhound wheels ever moving to arrive
Lean back in the reclining seat in strive
Greyhound will take you where you want to go
No bones about it, the stretched Greyhound dog being the flow
Departure from which all the origin all began
A travel buddy until the very end
Into the night
No need to feel uptight
The new Hound blue oh what a sight
A Greyhound Driver who knows how to be polite
The Hound bus travelling in Fog makes sure the headlights shine bright
Go Greyhound, relax and close your eyes because you are riding in style with a lean back good night.

Santa and his reindeer decided not to fly
A new experience being the Hound Bus ride
The idea of Santa and the reindeer bringing in the Greyhound Christmas cheer
With the help of Greyhound in preserving in having no fear
The Greyhound bus being your Christmas travel ride
It’s the added comfort and Wi Fi that Greyhound will provide
The thought of leather seats and Wi Fi
This is added plus in encouraging Santa, Reindeers and first time passengers in giving Greyhound a try
The reindeers are not asking the question of why
It’s the 24/7 Greyhound rolling through the holiday season
It’s all for a good reason
The easiest transportation mode
Bus travel perks of behold
It’s all holiday cheer
Don’t wait as Christmas is almost near
Santa won’t have to do all the work on Christmas Eve
It’s Greyhound bringing the gift of travel in what passengers will receive
You can call the Hound bus, “Santa’s new ride in stride”
Santa knows Greyhound best
Even the Reindeer don’t settle for less
But through it all, even the passengers can confess
Santa and the Hound Bus have teamed up in drive
“Greyhound with your headlights so bright, can I ride with you on the Highway tonight”
Dash away was the Greyhound bus
Happy Holidays from Leave the Driving to us.

What is there to prove anymore?
I hope I don't die tonight and regret
Being impulsive for once
You're a smart shadow
And a dull character
Pushing the last of the daisies
Get the lamp to turn on again
Give the pavement something to look forward to with your walk
Be consistent in being inconsistent
If there's a word there's a ***** and a poem for it!
We all oughta worship
Nothing at all except
Clarity
Compassion with ones neighbor who either forgot the pay the electricity bill or couldn't afford to
We're a swimmin

The Man, my Mentor, Legend and Also known as DAD is what I call him being Mr. Donald M. Coffin
As a permanent Greyhound bus memorial, a blue License plate on the right bumper of a new Greyhound bus in front that reads, “IN HONOR OF DONALD M. COFFIN, MR. GREYHOUND”
I was presented with the Greyhound bus picture this past Tuesday right before Independence Day
I felt honored and Dad would certainly be pleased
At this moment, I feel so at ease
Mr. Donald Coffin died in 2017 at the age of 93, but I know he is resting comfortably
Yet the message is, “Where that Greyhound Bus, Mr. Coffin’s spirit will always offer direction
Dad will always be the guiding light in the Greyhound bus highway
So if that Greyhound bus should ever get lost have no fear, as Mr. Coffin will always be near
Mr. Coffin devoted his entire life to buses
It was Greyhound in particular
Dad will always be my center piece I my heart and soul
My wisdom and understanding came from his behold
Mr. Coffin is the man that taught me everything I needed to know about buses
I was the Greyhound Historian and I was his student
So how fitting in the Greyhound Bus honor
Mr. Coffin vision was buses being ahead of their time
The open road to Dad was a Bus of any kind
So the heritage vision has been established in me
I thank Greyhound for giving Dad that well deserved recognition
Appreciation within my heart
Establishment having the honor
The road will always greet and welcome the Donald M. Coffin name
It will be Heaven in telling Greyhound, “Start your engines as it is the road to take aim but remembrance of Donald M. Coffin that will always remain
“Lead by heritage and vintage being everlasting”.
