i need you to keep me awake
until the palace band stops playing
and the trapped sand in my hands
turns into sea glass

i'm lit up but so easy to smother
by a wayward breath of wind
or the waxing moon's light temper
the errant smoke will twist forever
.
In a cobalt mood, your eyes—
Colour me in graves and dust,
The scent of your hair a lofty drug,
I gave you my hand in the lost woods,
But could not find yours, your breaths
Exhale as I suffocate in a room without
Doors, without walls.  When will this day
Only begin, when comes dear, frail light
We see, knowingly but in pieces?

I once heard you whisper my name
And woke from a dream of true days
Imagined.  A shadow etched my form
Out of delusions and wants in a wrapped
Under night.  I once tasted your calling lips
And died in cauldrons, ocean climes of thirst,
Swimming to the moon in your milky eyes
And mostly all the flighty stars watched
As I crashed into the barren, sodden earth.

And my body, born— fell like black trees,
After a vast, vale of forest blazed in flames.
I want to
make love
to you
but not
in the way
you'd think

I want to
brush your soul
with my fingertips
and slip in and out
of this world
in your arms

I want to
show you
the galaxy
inside of my heart
and watch you
discover each star

I want to
press my lips
against your body
and write the story
of our love
in sloppy wet kisses

I want to
deeply inhale
your wild spirt
and get high
on all your
hopes and dreams

I want to
wander the maze
in your heart
and hang
my portrait
over the
cracked drywall.

I want to
feel you searching
my soul and
shouting out
in joy at
every piece you find

I want to
strip you
of your insecurities
until you can
bask naked
in the warmth
of my love

I want to
paint our lives
in vibrant memories
of days filled
with laughter
and nights filled
with passion

I want to
have all of you
in every moment
of every single day
for the rest
of forever

And if that
isn't making love.
*I don't want
to know
what is.
