Sky Reef
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
When you get to Mexico, Cozumel
whether by plane or cruise you sail
really close to your port of call
take a Taxi not far at all

To Sky Reef for some fun and food
snorkel the reef will put you in the mood
have some nachos, all 3 kinds
beef, chicken or shrimp you’ll find
all delicious, servers friendly and kind

Plenty of mixed drinks and have no fear
they have lots of ice cold beer
how about a massage on the edge of the sea
or Tequila tasting, thrown in for free

Have a seat with an umbrella
chill out with the girls and fellas
have a good time at Sky Reef
relaxing excursion, just too brief
Fun little Verse about a spot in Cozumel. Have you ever been?

Morning
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Bathroom in the dark
Reading the news of the day
Wife comes to shower

Begins to undress
Shirt, pajamas, ******* off
I love her **** form

Hot  water on, steam
Mirror fogs, bath gel applied
Tan long legs shaved smooth

I love to watch her
Armpits done, hair shampooed  clean
Conditioner on

Hand her a towel
Naked body so close by
You know I will try

My hand slides under
Towel, hand brushes ******
Naughty smile, later

Walks away with grin
Cute round cheeks, cannot pass up
Quick squeeze more ahead

Frustrated, for now
Watch, *******, socks, pants,bra, shirt
Put on despite me

Beautiful package
Wrapped up for later on tonight
Promises of bliss

Life is a Journey
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Life is a journey
don’t be in a hurry
it starts at birth
and for what it’s worth

Youth is wasted on the young
stuck at home cannot roam far flung
enjoy childhood while you can
do not wish to be a man

Or a woman, be a girl
growth in time will unfurl
changes to your body and voice
and your height in time will hoist

But do not rush this or you will miss
grandparents, Santa and Birthday wish
sports and games and plays and such
not now but in time you will miss it much

Junior high and sometimes high school is a drag
when it’s done of those times you will brag
so enjoy them all the way through
because you’ll notice the time, it flew

Go to dances, parties, and gatherings
gather knowledge in smatterings
play football, try the choir and FFA
long distance running or softball play

You do not have to win each one
but trying them is half the fun
have a group of best friends
you know, Keepers till the end

But meet new people do not be shut
the best of them will make the cut
out of School to college or a job
of your beliefs do not be robbed

Continue to be who you are
after all, your decisions fill your jar
continue to learn and experience
life continues on and hence

Find a spouse or a calling
fill your life with job or some bawling
kids, and watch them grow
like the grass that must be mowed

And tended, they now are also on the path
guide them well and do the math
through parenthood and middle age
from your experience, advice, give sage

Grow old do not stop living and doing
your life gets shorter when you stop moving
see your kids
their Kids
and maybe their kids

Set an example for the journey of life
along the way, love your husband or wife
you and they will know you lived
when at last they close the casket lid.

The Days and Nights
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
I gaze enthralled
Into her eye
As it slowly closes
On the day
And I am embraced
By the night

The made up sky
With pinks and blues
Vanish
Replaced

By the blackness
Freckled with
Starlight
Pinpricks

Engulfed in
Shadow
Until my
Mistress

Is on the rise
Luna
Her golden face
Rises along with the tides

Tonight she wears
A Cheshire cat smile
I watch move across the sky
Until I close my eyes

The rooster crows
And I am alight
Once again in
Her light

As sol begins her trip
Across the sky
And our lives
Providing light and warmth
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
The voices keep me company
in my mind we enjoy tea
blueberry scones and butter
sandwiches of fluffernutter

We discuss politics politely
pinky raised in the air, so slightly
we discuss religion, so sweet
in our pockets, knives gripped with heat

Thoughts of women, good and bad
One voice sings, softly, so sad
Another screams above the crowd
horrible, things, screeches so loud

The voices keep me company
in my mind we enjoy tea
blueberry scones and butter
sandwiches of fluffernutter

Cemetery Panic
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Moonlight gleams
Off granite slabs
Lost in dreams
Of hands that grab

Skeletal fingers
Push up through dirt
Thoughts that linger
Fear that flirts

Panic on edge
Clouds darken the sky
I skirt the edge
And hope not to fly

Off the handle
Moon emerges bright
Try to avoid scandal
On this cemetary night

came to drop flowers for a friend
But every sound
Could be my end
As I go to ground

Back to the car
And go to leave
When I notice the stars
And then I can breathe

Fishing Road Trip
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Boat hooked up
Let'***** the road
Left work early
Lighten my load

Buddies jump in
With their gear
Truck loaded down
Have no fear

Rods and reels
And bottles of crown
Headed to the coast
Jamming throwback sounds

Dinner time
Whataburger stop
Back on the highway
Haven't seen a cop

Halfway there
Need to get some sleep
But stopping at a buddies
Conversation runs deep

Morning comes
Got to get going
The beach it calls
And the tide is flowing

Check into the house
Drop boats in the water
Let's go fish
Can't stand it ni longer

Live gulf shrimp
hooks and weights
Out to the jetties
To sink some bait

Tap and pull
Set the hook
Drag screaming
The bait was took

Finally turn
This big old red
Bringing him in
Feel just about dead

Scoop him up

October Full Moon
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
A sliver of orange on the horizon
as night pushes evening out
pinpricks of starlight begin to shine
as the wind lays down for the day

The sliver grows in the eastern sky
as the moon claws its way up
looking larger than life
in its orange Halloween costume

Color begins to change
the higher in the sky it climbs
from pumpkin to gold
and finally to silver white

My eyes are drawn to it
and I am spellbound
amazed and perplexed
by the evenings full moon

10years in a barrel
aging up just fine

I will have my scotch
you can drink your wine

Earthy peaty goodness
Scotland's where its made

I enjoy it and a cigar
while sitting in the shade

I will drink it on the rocks, but prefer it neat
40 bucks for my self is quite a treat.

Lost in wondrous places
no limits inside here
rattling around my skull
thoughts augmented by the beer

Chasing them around all day
to put them on the page
makes me really tired
as I put them on the stage

I check into the Ritz
located in my soul
sleep on a buttery *******
and this rest does make me whole

Sleep is fast and hard
then I'm back it again
running through my neurons
looking for a place to swim

Fishing for my next write
casting out my line
wondering if it will have teeth
or if it will be divine

Living in the mind
is a scary place to be
sometimes things get out
you want no one to see

I talk down to myself
in Hotel Soulifornia
I try to escape
and say I tried to warn

The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Looking for a port of call
a slot in a marina stall
park my boat
and as it floats

I will walk
and find a talk
with someone who is new
share a meal, something to chew

discover myself in their eyes
destroy all my selfish lies
understand that I am me
just look, anyone can see

So no more will I hide
on my boat, for long rides
Now my boat will be shared
on afternoons, with those that care

Hearts Beacon
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Though I travel far and wide,
I never really leave her side.
Down gravel roads and interstates,
I'm never alone in my fate.

Summer's day or winter's night,
I always keep it in my sight.
Out of country or out of town,
when I think of her I cannot frown.

Wherever I am,
her heart shines bright
Like a beacon in the night,
like a laser, her love is strong.
I follow it home where I belong.

Text messages or cell phone chats,
helps me to remember that;
passion burns in the night,
feel the heat from her heart light.

Out of country or out of state,
heading home I'm never late.
Bad weather or other delay
somehow, I'll figure out a way

Wherever I am,
her heart shines bright
Like a beacon in the night,
like a laser, her love is strong.
I follow it home where I belong

Emotional Inflammation
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Emotions strained,
heart inflamed,
soul strings plucked,
am I in luck?

Neurons working overtime,
blinding me to all her crimes.
Hormones pumping,
excitement jumping.

Goosebumps at the slightest touch,
didn't know I could feel so much.
All let out, with no shielding,
Is it lust or love that's building?

No matter which right now,
I just need, to know how?
How do I proceed,
to let her know, its her I need!

I move in for our first kiss,
she leans in no way to miss;
electric spark at the meeting,
I'm just glad my hearts still beating

The Blazing Trail
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
The bridge I just traversed in the past
on it I left a stream of gas
over my shoulder flick a match
feel the heat and hear it catch

Light tomorrow with the flames
I just play a one way game
looking back is not a choice
listening to a future voice

They say you can never go home
so an eternal path I roam
leaving a trail of flames behind
it is a one way state of mind

I have memories, but that's all
behind too many rivers in which to fall
as all the bridges have been burned
even Madison county has been spurned

Ashes behind, but ahead is bright
as I walk briskly into the night
the fire burns on my tail
as I blaze a future trail

Mind Shadows
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
The shadows on the wall
from the sun going down
My flying mind stalls
nose dives toward the ground

Mind shadows cross my field of view
like bodachs headed for souls to chew
I shake my head to clear them out
restart my engine with a mental shout

The lights come on and I fly away
to fight the shadows another day
its dark outside, out come the stars
gray matter dreams of living on mars.

Shadows shaken for a time
off to someone else for mental crime
they will be back once more
but for now I have won the war
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
The star's burn until they nova,
after hot brilliance for billions of years.
Minutes matter little in the cosmos,
particularly in the beginning.

The expanding egg-shaped universe
is actually an illusion, a hologram,
in two dimensions, projected.
Is it simply a construct of an alien brain?

Black holes destroy everything,
or do they?
Does life in some other iteration,
get extruded into another dimension?

Huge amounts of emptiness,
occupied by dark matter,
fill the void between.
Gravity occasionally destroys due to encroachment.

The clock ticks down from the big bang,
is there an end? Will it all reverse?
Will there be a giant collapse?
Only time and space will tell

the mists allow movement unseen
finding a spot to wait
to ambush and to seal there fate

Billowing clouds glow
as they seep out of the black water
the temperature begins to drop
hairs on the back of my neck raise

Footsteps head this direction
in the leaf litter and mud
and then stop
the silence is complete

The Trail Continues
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
The drive began in Donna,
at the tail end of Texas.
We mounted up and began
step one of 952 miles.

Coastal plains, the endless grass,
into scrubby mesquite trees and rolling hills.
Canyons, climbing and descending
rocks rolling under horse and cattle.

Saddle sore and travel weary
riding the endless days.
The nights, stars, moon, planets,
taking turns, watching over the herd in the darkness.

Cougars, and coyotes,
rustlers and the weather all up to no good.
Then we come up to the
streams, creeks and the mighty rivers.

Nasal breathing from the herd,
the splashes of tails and hooves.
Yaw, and get along,
the slap of a rope on a leg.
Cattle and river's smell, fills the nose.

Chili beans, and cornbread
Hard tack to snack
My hat shields my head
from the rain, and the blazing sun.

50 men and 3000 head,
march triumphantly into Abilene Kansas.
Where the cattle are immediately loaded
into railroad cars after walking 952 miles.

A Whiskey Tale
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
The Northern Light shone down
through the Dancing Pines.
Illuminating the Red Stag,
as it walked through Salt Creek.

Jim Beam and Ezra Brooks,
were headed to the Caribou Crossing.
To hunt for meat, for the freezer
and stock it for the long winter.

Under the Midnight Moon,
Forty Creek streamed over a waterfall.
Creating a Canadian Mist, that ringed
Evan Williams head like a Crown Royal.

George Dickel and Jack Daniels
hunted Wild Turkey, with a single barrel
shotgun, alongside the Pendleton river.
The Makers Mark, reflected sunlight on the stock.

Johnny Walker went to see
Basil Hayden, to talk about finances
and to see if he could cure
his case of the blues.

Lifetimes and Questions
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Lifetimes stream by,
a flash and they are over.
To be reborn again,
in a new body, a new time.

Scars of the past show up as
birthmarks or spots on the new.
if only all that knowledge retained
could be accessed for the future.

Dreams and visions
sometimes give us a glimpse.
Into our past lives and let us see
perhaps how to do better.

Eyeblinks in the time stream.
Souls transferred over and over.
Are we really who we think we are?
If not, who was the first and who am I?

The Murderous Raid
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Flying through branches and leaves,
dodging evergreen and hardwood trees
ruffling feathers and riding the breeze
looking and searching out, nuts and seeds

On four-toed feet, I swoop in and land
dig through the litter, tossing leaves and sand
in the distance I hear the call from my band
I call back, and wait, patient, here I stand

The ****** flies in, 10 members strong
they came in response to my gathering song
a campsite is near, to raid it is wrong
its what we do, they'll not be gone long

Gathering shiny baubles, and things to eat
hipsters leave laying great tasty treats
granola, fruit and organic bits of meat
even some bread, you bet its whole wheat

We ransack the camp, it's rarely a bore
when the campers return, they will be sore
all out of food, they'll have to go to the store
we caw and fly, but do not say, nevermore!
A ****** is a group of crows or ravens.
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Random foods in a basket
to create something,  I am tasked
Appetizers and entrees and even desserts
in a very short time, is all kinds of work

But I chop and mince and bake and braise
and serve it all up and hope for some praise
sometimes a winner and others a flop
hope for the best and not get chopped.
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Temperature climbing
desert wind blowing
runnels of sweat begin
as I start to melt, in the heat.

Waves slither on the horizon
a mirage of water
zero humidity
and not a cloud above

Swirling sand catches my eye
dust devil rising 200 feet
tumbleweeds shot upward
the whiptail lizards sprints away

108 degrees and a breeze full of dirt
like being sand blasted
except I have no rust
just skin, to live in

It begins to roast and turn red
I long for shade and a drink
but no trees, or shrubs offer any
and no hose, or lake around

Thirsty and burnt
skin just about flayed
I finally make it
to the cooler and shade
A quick trip across the yard to the mailbox and back

A Pair of Roses
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Strip the thorns
and adorn her hair
Pair of Roses
I breathe her air

Sweetness flows
a glow in her cheeks
She approaches me
gives me a kiss, she is not meek

Passions fire lit
wires crossed and sparks ignite
embossed by roaming hands
our molecules vibrate and excite
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Our rhymes
Are on time
And our wit
Is hard to get

But your gas to my fire
Is enough to spark wires
And inspire heat

But not the kind
That burns down shanties
But the kind that excites
And slides down *******

The dry and calloused hands
of wit sharpened
and refined

The keeping of the fire
as her arousal, assured
playing with her mind

It's not a simple variance
each puzzle, a different kind of view
getting her excited, and her bra removed

No ******* and no bra
I look in wonder, stare in awe
At the statuesque beauty in front of me
My eyes capture and store what it sees

A tentative touch of skin to skin
I may not know the trouble I'm in
As thoughts turn to original sin
At this point the line is mighty thin

So I cross it with a kiss
Roam her body, no spot I miss
Friction sparks ignite the flame
Man I love to play this game

Flick of my Bic
Or of my tongue
Either way
She will squirm
From my licks
Or my words
Both can cause
Passions to burn

Tongue tip
Long **** sip
Juices flow
See the glow
Here to dine
For a time

Sliding into memories,
her scent, her feel, her remedies
Breaking bad, breaking me,
repair, a simple thought you see
Her silken hands and gentle touch, setting me forever, free

Her needs are mine, her smallest thoughts, decree
My body hers, my confusion swept, as if debris

I hold to what I know is true, there is no me, without, you....

Lights in Life and Death
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
In our death
run out of breath
we become souls of stars
burn in space near and far
lighting the night
with our fires burning bright

myself I have shattered
destroyed all that mattered

in the maelstrom, I spin and spin
wallowing in thoughts of my own sin

when the singularity swallows me
at least then I will be free.

The light I was following
was simply ripped away
pursuing the end of time
and then I heard 'clear'
and felt an electric shock
then my heart restarted
and was ticking like a clock.

Just Enjoy
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
If food was simply meant to be fuel
then why are there so many flavors
so people say eat to live
these people do not enjoy life
though they probably live longer

I say live to eat
experience the tastes
salty and sweet
umami too
bitter and ****
try them all

Textures and Temperatures vary
crisp or mushy
cold or hot
stringy, or cubed
liquids or solids
or even terrines

Fruits and vegetables
grains and flowers
leaves and roots
fish, fowl, or ruminant
feet, hooves, or fins
again I say let us eat

Fresh or fermented
brewed or aged
all so different
Experience them

Eat, Drink and be Merry

Fading
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Pretty of body and face
Overtime fades without a trace

But the beauty of mind and soul
Rarely fades and keeps us whole

Time is rarely gentle and kind
So love the whole person, including mind

Then at the end when it too goes
Will the door finally close
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
I don't believe
clothes make the man
but I can usually tell,
from the shake of his hand

Eyes meet and a firm grip
a single shake or two
is the hand shake I expect
if you want me to respect you

A limp and cold dead fish
is the handshake of a fake
and introducing myself
is instantly a mistake.

Ambush from Above
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Senses on alert
eyes peeled
searching without moving
in the falling light

The forest is still
silence reigns
from my perch high in an oak tree
watching and waiting

Snap, I hear
rustle, rustle
snap, leaf litter searched
more of the same in the distance

Movement coming my way
small, brown hair with stripes
three possibilities
sniff, close now

There just underneath me
I stand and extend claws
leap from the tree
seven feet to the ground

Teeth gnash and tear
a high pitch scream
Aawheeeeeeeeeee
pierces the night

Clamping down with my jaws
the sickening crack of vertebrae
and the final kicks of life
climbing back to my perch

A meal is served of piglet
enjoying every morsel
I relax and take a bath
tongue and paws and maw cleaned

With a contented purr
I settle back in to wait
on the next meal
to cross my path

to leave, get off station
and go on permanent vacation

Dimensions combine in the stream
coalescing thoughts in the dream
pin ******, on my head, cold like rain
even in my sleep, cannot escape the pain

Crashes of Fancy
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
Nonsensical gibberish
is your wish
flights of fancy
makes you feel dancy

Mentally soaring the sky
feeling exceedingly high
emus flying though
I don't think so

Scraped their knees
with tears and pleas
when they fell down
onto the ground

Crashed and burned
on their return
from running and trying
but no wings for flying

Bandaged and embarrassed
from busting their ***
a whole roll of gauze
from hips to claws
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
At sorrows depth
I sat and wept
heart as if concrete
I sank complete

Into the melancholy
though pure folly
to wallow the mire
of a funeral pyre

Life simply must go
continue to flow
so I get to my feet
and say never retreat

Moving ahead with life
away from pain and strife
always remember, but there I cannot live
I go on, with so much more to give.
From being sunk, to the bottom as if tied to cinder blocks in the lake
to getting up and picking ones self up by the bootstraps

Myocardial Connection

syncing sinus rhythms
atrial-ventricle connections
hear the drumming beats
in our passions heat.

Quit Talking in There
The Fire Burns Oct 2016
The voices in my head
leak onto the page
they get me into trouble
or at least set the stage

Other times they set the mood
for loving cuddle, or flaming lust
I simply set them free
and in my thoughts I trust

Beautiful or silly
they burn their way out
its why my filter has holes
and things come out in a SHOUT
