You must be willing to take the first step
In what could well be the very last time
Let go of the anger
and resentment you've kept
Setting free both your heart and your mind

No more looking back in the mirror
The reflection of what could have been
Must vanish for you
so you can see clearer
Letting the world that haunts you grow dim

It's a constant struggle to keep hope alive
Giving it all that you have left
As you try and avoid
all the struggles in life
Where so many years you've laid your head

The pain of the past invades your night
Still being the least of all your fears
Waking up to this
still won't make it right
Until you wake up to the lost years

Take the first step

One day everything we have ever owned will be reduced to dust,
The last remnants of our lives
Scattered to the winds.
Just another child of the moon,
Another sad story.
Love and loss and laughter
Never to be remembered-
Tossed into the ocean.
Yet we see remnants of a struggle;
Names etched into stone,
Initials carved into trees,
Stories printed in ink-
All bearing the same timeless message.
I was here.
I was here.
I was here.

row this boat, let us;
in this boat we are
given a respite, calm waters
and smooth passage, at least the while

and so let us row the boat past the fingers of land
past the trees and receding assurances
and the enveloping air like an imperceptible menace
and Mt Fuji like a blessing, but the inscrutable skies all round -
who knows how long a friend, a comfort?
row this boat then, only our skills are certain
only our intended destination
(for even the benign presence we know is fickle)
and who is to know if we may even reach land?
all destiny is in the hands of the waves;
we are but driftwood, we are…enjoy the rhythm
and when it’s wild, enjoy the thrill of the ride

If I could be your world, I would let your travel all over me.
We could visit galaxies, or simply look at stars.
If you could be my creature, I would fill your needs.
You would rule the world, and all my sights to see.
I'll bring you air, the sun and skies - to see a little clearer.
And an off-white moon to see your smile shine.
If I could be your world, I would be your everything.
We cower
Under covers
As if a thin sheet
Might save us
From these
Macabre horrors
Drooling, smiling,
Scuttling,
Red- bellied phantoms
Slither by Whisper in many voices
They drink fear
Revelling in it
Invisible children
With laughter
Turning into hate
Snuffling, shuffling
Coldly touching
Smiling, eyeless
Grasping, gasping
Terror, dark
Chuckling, biting
Surrounding, frozen
Wildly insane
Sliding, tripping
We hide from this monster
Cower
Down
But fail
...it's
inside
us
all...
