A shiver of uncertainty
prickling stars on the corners of my frame.
Weaving through speach, playful and playing
what is this awful game?
Deep in the chasm, pain in my belly
never satisfied, never done
disrobe myself and begin once more
to never find myself ready
nothing ever won.
And I can sharpen my wit
day by day
whittle it to a blade
practice what I say.
It's nothing impressive
next to the truth
I'm completely and compulsively obsessive
with the way that you move.
In fact, I am entranced
by every little thing that you do
embarrassingly strong, this yearning notion.
I cannot break through.
a crush that slowly crushes you too
Songs
send simple
profound messages
Even when all
seems lost
There is
always
Music

That’s how
Musicians
find their
Niche
into Fame

Movement
Expression
Key note
Ripple
Effects

Speaks
to the
Power
Music has
In bringing
People
Together

Creating
Hope
when
we have
nothing
else,

Music
will always
be there to
bring about
change
Peace

Yet
profoundly
powerful
effects
can also
Change Society
clear examples are;

John Lennon’s
imagine 1971
invites us to
Question our Values
in the world
we live in and
Imagine one
that is simpler
Where all live in peace

In doing so
Society must
give up their
Beliefs in God

Music
can be
Hypnotic
a snappy beat
a catchy tune
Singing lyrics
without realizing
What the words
Represent

Lyrics such as;
AC/DC 1979
“I’m on a highway to hell “
Eagles 1972
“Witchy women see how high she flies “
John Lennon 1971
“Imagine there’s no heaven it’s easy if you try “

Each of these
Rhythmic
song beats
Keep us
Hypnotized to
what we’re
Singing

I used to laugh
when my parents insisted
Rock music was
Satan’s bandwagon
The Pied Piper
The devils playpen

Blurring
differences between
wrong and right

Teens
Rationalized
it’s just a song
Get real
Give me a Break

We were
a BeatNick
Generation
of ignoramus

You don’t know
what you don’t know
until you know it

Footnote
My heyday was the 1970s Living in Southern California, rock ‘n’ roll and every type of bands from easy listening, country, and everything in between. My youth church group in an. attempt to open dialogue between the teenagers and parents asked each person to bring in their favorite album. And we were going to have Music appreciation and talk about that particular album. So that meant somebody who brought in John Denver got equal respect as somebody who brought in the Doors or Led Zeppelin, Simon & Garfunkel.
In comparison, Simon & Garfunkel is mellow by rock ‘n’ roll standards but back then it was on the blacklist of evil music.
To see the underbelly of music
search on bands that sold their soul to the devil. Or search devil music. You won’t believe the singers and their interviews. John Lennon on that list
who would’ve thought
BLT Webster’s Word of the day challenge
2-26-25 ignoramus
An ignoramus is an utterly ignorant or stupid person
When winter came with blankets of mist
A cover of cloud through the day
Skies would stretch in endless grey
No dancing rays of an ochre sun
Then, what comfort and sweet bliss -
Was a cup of tea with cinnamon.

All wrapped in scarf, cap and mitts
Warming hands and toasting toes
Singing rhymes or talking prose
We'd whisper tales that winter spun
Tucked at night in layered quilt -
With a cup of tea with cinnamon.

With happiness, memories sing
Of smiles of youth that teased the cold
Battled wars that could be won -
To gloat in glory when grey and old
Oh, what comfort it still brings -
That cup of tea with cinnamon
“ To do a thing young is a shortcut to greatness. Everything you do right is evidence of your great potential, and all your mistakes are the mistakes of inexperience, which will be corrected, surely, by the passing of time. To write a poor sentence at the age of nineteen is expected (and quickly forgiven). To write a poor sentence at the age of forty-five—shouldn’t you know better by now?”

now of an age when the word
decrepit
takes on an ironical extra lively meaning,
and critique mine own progeny
(feet, fingers toes & nose)
thru a bitter screening of
et tu?

thru this wizened skepticism,
acting as a great filtration
filigree of straining,
so many newlywed issues
never see the light of night,
by early dawn’s demise,
they gone, discarded

do the thing
step into the crevice
neath the wrath of the
precipice

be great
by your own definition
start the ignition
and energize the engine
add oil & gas
the spark plugs of youth
will get you to the next
stop or testing station

these poems here
tethered to me
by some unknown
uncontrollable force
I didn’t ask for this
I didn’t ask for any of this
all I wanted to do was to play
with the women and the music
and maybe even my kids every now and then
not knowing, not caring,
not believing, not searching
for a higher purpose
for a greater meaning
for an elixir of divinity
but they have arrived
in different variances
& mass quantities
I didn’t ask for this
now it is here
I can’t stop
I won’t stop
until it kills me
until it kills something inside of me
until there is nothing left
except
these poems here.
