In me a child was raised,
in me a child drowns.
Flung so far deep into the water,
That the surface is a misty cloud.

Its first steps marked my scope
The last steps do not leave a trail.
The son I lost to the waves,
The last I had, the last I knew.

Big bright eyes, the deep blue sea.
First words, a distant memory.
Building dreams on the beach.
Each demolished in pride and pain.
That little terror in my womb.
Fate's play.

The child I carried in my heart
The playful kid that I was.
Last goodbye, my son.
For I have stopped playing for good.

In me a child was raised,
in me a child drowns.

They experience an exhilirating flight
Adrenaline of pure joy mixed with fright
Hair flying back in the summers breeze
They're as one with the birds in the trees
And as their feet reach out to touch the sky
I mourn my inner child
Watching my kids on the swings & miss how free I felt doing it when I was a kid

Didn't you know?

Cinderella,
Was only chased by the prince
For the mystery
Not the girl

Snow White,
Was never wanted by the prince
He just wanted
The adventure
Not the girl

Belle,
Was never loved
By the beast
He just wanted
To escape the curse

So didn't you know?
The only real prince
Disney ever made
Is named Hans

Who was greedy
And just wanted
Money and fame
And tricked a little girl
Out of her innocence

Didn't you know?

The little girl clutched her balloon tightly
Careful not to let it go.
She loved it and wanted it to stay with her
Forever.
Alas, she clutched too tightly,
The balloon flew up to the ceiling of the room.
Horrified, she looked. Determined, she climbed
One height to another, to get her balloon.
Stretching her tiny hands out, she reached the string.
And just when she had it, she fell.
From height to floor she fell
Hurting her fragile frame.
The balloon in her hand, she braved the fall.
And just when she smiled
The sweet smile of success
Her balloon burst.
Her face fell.
The child grew up.

Like a Swan from a duckling
She grew up into a beauty
And in all her white majesty
She became a heart’s desire

ELEVEN* was tired because it was
Almost TWELVE, but ONE was
Up late TWO watch THREE come
Home, FOUR was tired because FIVE
Did snore but SIX pushed him out of
The bed he snored no more, SEVEN
Was up as bright as could be, its
Amazing what EIGHT hours of sleep
Can do for me, NINE was happy as it
Was almost TEN because ELEVEN
Was coming to brunch again, TWELVE
Did come along the day going so quick
So more numbers counted once again
Which will leave us at the first number once again.

ONE* said to TWO have you
Seen THREE, then FOUR jumped
Out and FIVE nearly fell out the
Door, SIX was laughing so hard
Because of the fright, then SEVEN
Shouted it,s EIGHT now go to bed
Good night, NINE was exited
Because it was almost TEN, then
After this all were counted, but we
Will leave it till tomorrow, and then
The number fun can start once again.

The little vacuum was happy as could be, he was
Being treated to a trip where he had never been.

It was out side where the light was real, to feel the
Air on his hose, would it be sunny, cold, blustery.
Excitement was growing his cord extended with
Help of a friend the extension cord Barry.

So the door opened eager to see what could be seen,
Was the outside world all he had heard sites, sounds,
Smells, now he was cleaned regularly he could take
In the smells and sites he was about to see.

They stepped out side it was all he had dreamed no
Longer in the box time to play to be happy, there was
Big Garry the family car gave me a wink with the
Indicator when he saw me.

Time for a clean was spoken, As like me  not tidied up
Much, but now was his turn to smell fresh and clean,
Garry was big but not much older than me. Beep, beep
Went the horn, was that the neighbour couldn't be my
Car as I'm  not in the seat.

So we started to vacuum the mess was not the best but
Clean Garry would soon be, Then left alone as the phone
Rang, alone with Garry, then out of the corner I saw you.

Approached we were, I didn't like the look of this  person,
Specially as they had waited till we were alone. my Daddy
Told me never talk to those you don't know, as a stranger
Can be dangerous, not friendly.

He spoke saying hello who left you out here all  alone,
I hovered but could not be heard by my family, he was
Trying to take me where I wished  not to go, but I was
Not alone, I had my friend Garry.

Garry did honk his horn his alarm startled the stranger,
Running out, to what could be seen, saw  what was
Happening and came to protect me.

The police were called, flashing lights did I  see, told was
He never to leave alone things that are part of the family,
As strangers are danger don't you see, Gary was lucky
As no keys did he have on he.

So stranger danger we both learnt that day, never to be left
Alone for any time, as it only takes a moment to be lost to
Be taken by those that are not family.

*--This was the story of how a stranger should
Never be spoken to, or go with no matter what they
Promise to give. The only people to talk to are family
And the polite police men and woman who will get you
Back if left alone or lost away from family--

Dress up days
FOR KIDS
I don't mean the times
They dressed up for Church
Or for special holidays
But the times they found
A long dress in their moms closet,
And their moms high heel shoes
Oh and the hats they found
In a hat box in the closet.
Please mom, please....
They were in seventh Heaven...
And the special box
In a best friends basement,
Filled with formals
And a box of high heels.
That insured them a great
Play day...
I grew up in
Dress up days
My girls grew up in
Dress up days
But this day and age
It seems there are
Dress up days
Filled with Princesses
Bought at Target
Or on Amazon.
Stealing the creative ability of a child.
They are expensive, beautiful
And they sparkle
I'm sure the little girls
Probably get more excited
Over Princess dresses
That sparkle
Then the ones that hang
Over their shoulders
And drag on the ground.
Either way, they can still
Have fun while singing
"I'm so fancy"
