They often said she had a soul much older than her years,
a force that dwelled within her heart that conquered all her fears,
a wise and gifted creature born of suffering and strife,
some noble fallen angel who had watched her all through life.

They often asked how she could paint the colours of the soul,
a talent that she never claimed was in her to control,
a simple canvas painted by her crude and untrained hand,
conveyed both thoughts and feelings the whole world could understand.

They often sought her guidance on their own attempts at art,
a task she felt unworthy of deep down inside her heart.
a challenge just to find the words each one would like to hear,
unable to relay her thoughts on all they held most dear,

They often found her hard to fathom when they came to meet,
a sense of something hidden in the shuffling of her feet,
a different personality to what they would expect,
but her work and reputation were enough for their respect.

They often thought about her when they looked at all she'd done,
a life spent in reflection in the shadow of the sun,
a stranger in the world though never far from any friend,
forever cloaked in mystery until the very end.

Is this the world I used to watch?
The world for which I gave my wings,
This place of thieves and murderers,
That once was full of precious things,

Is this the creature I’ve become?
The creature that I used to guard,
This species so far from my own,
That has no artist, muse, or bard,

Is this the land I used to roam?
The land for which I took an oath,
This place of hatred and disease,
That once was sacred to us both,

Is this the future that I sought?
The future that denied me youth,
This march of ever shorter days,
That takes me further from the truth.

Close your eyes to all you've been- forget all that you know,
Free your mind from darkness and let hope begin to grow.

Place your hand within mine- let our energies combine,
Feel the world retreating and the pain within resign.

Follow me through shadows- find the light that we all seek,
Keep me in your thoughts and hear the soothing words I speak.

Wake up to the morning- greet the dawn of this new day,
See the world in colour not that sad and lonely gray.

Breathe in the scent of freedom- clear the worry from your mind,
Walk tall amongst your kinsfolk and enjoy the peace you find.

Share your life with others- help them conquer all their fear,
Protect all those around you and forever hold love near.

Live each day within the light- don't let the darkness in,
Lead by your example and absolve yourself from sin.

Change the world around you- only you can claim this power,
Rest when all the work is done and dwell not on the hour.

Take comfort when the end is near- you will not be alone,
Remember I am with you and have shared in all you've known.

Only you can help decide,
Keep the secrets I confide,
Stay forever by my side,
Fill this empty void inside.

Only you can show the way,
Rescue me and save the day,
Give me hope with all you say,
Cleanse my soul so I can pray.

Only you can set me free,
Help me be all I can be,
Find the path that I can’t see,
Hold my hand and walk with me.

There she lies in silent thought,
Lost in the chaos life has wrought,
Through battles that her soul has fought,
Beyond all that she's ever sought.

There she drifts in silent sleep,
Lost in these lands where nightmares creep,
Entombed within this place so deep,
Beyond her heart's protective keep.

There she stays in silent hope,
Lost in a world where few could cope,
Abandoned on this lonely *****,
Beyond the last strand of life's rope.

Watching as you walk on by,
Wanting just to catch your eye,
Needing you to help me fly,
Trying hard to smile not cry,

Wishing that you could be mine,
Waiting for the bells to chime,
Dreaming of those eyes that shine,
Thinking of you all the time,

Walking through life's busy throng,
Wondering if I've got this wrong,
Living with your ghost so long,
Drifting in this love so strong.

My heart is but a grain of sand,
a broken shard of something grand,
dispersed across a frozen land,
for reasons none can understand.

My soul is but an empty shell,
forged within the fires of hell,
born of dreams I cannot tell,
enslaved by fears I cannot quell.

My life is but a cruel disguise,
a role no mortal would reprise,
a play the very gods despise,
this torment hidden in my eyes.

Trapped inside a fantasy,
Lost within his dreams,
Enslaved by pure insanity,
A hopeless cause it seems.

Gripped by desperation,
Lost in what he believes,
Entrenched in preconception,
A flawed future he perceives.

Mapping out false history,
Lost inside words so sweet,
Engaged deep in the mystery,
A soul swept off his feet.

Sapping all his energy,
Lost in a world of bliss,
Embracing hopeful synergy,
A victim to fate’s kiss.

The first span started peacefully,
Her world the perfect dream,
Though as the days wore on,
Life soon ripped at the seam.

The next span was more challenging,
Two worlds that shared one soul,
Darkness fighting light each day,
As she tried to keep control.

Another span soon came and went,
This world she grew to hate,
An outcast to all but a few,
A chance that came too late.

The best span started miserably,
Her world a living hell,
Though soon she found all she could want,
True love to share as well.

The span that followed shook things up,
Two worlds often at war,
A time of claimed or wasted dreams,
Though life gave her the score.

A span of hope and life renewed,
Her world reformed in flame,
Each challenge faced til none remained,
And none forgot her name.

This span will shape the days to come,
The world still in her sights,
So much unknown and yet to prove,
To stand or falter in the lights.

Pages turning in the breeze,
Names and dates written with ease,
Creatures not worthy of breath,
Each has chosen their own death,

Faces clear against the names,
Marking them for Satan's flames,
Spirits watch this work with greed,
Each line fills their ancient need,

Corrupted souls will come and go,
Mortals seldom see or know,
Angels walk the land as men,
Each one armed with sword and pen.

Tick,
the seconds passing by,

Lick,
his lips are feeling dry,

Crick,
his finger stiff with cold,

Click,
the shot is clean and bold,

Flick,
the gun is gone from sight,

Quick,
he fades into the night.

Creature of my own design,
Brought to bear upon this world,
Taking all that had been mine,
Deadly talons neatly curled.

Demon of Angelic form,
Crafted from the depths of me,
Spirit pure and heart so warm,
All that I could never be.

Spark of life that chose to stay,
Making way for something new,
Glowing brighter each new day,
Forcing me to see this through.

Sunlight on my darkened mind,
Creeping underneath my skin,
Love that I could never find,
Keeping me from hate and sin.

Tell me more about your art,
Only you know what to say,
Read to me right from the heart,
In your voice I’ll find the way.

Answer me with just your eyes,
Make me feel alive today,
On a journey through the skies,
Sailing in the blue and gray.

Show the magic of your dance,
Once the curtains have been raised,
Never miss or lose the chance,
Grace my life and long be praised.

Our scars are constellations,
a chart of stormy seas,
through troubled situations,
that shape our destinies.

Our scars are painted canvas,
a masterpiece of life,
for all that we hold precious.
drawn from our pain and strife.

Our scars are journal pages,
a journey of the soul,
preserved for all the ages,
as we learn to take control.

He read each status update and the comments that were shared,
Left a comment of his own to show that he too cared,
Then scanning through the profiles of each like that he received,
He found a kindred spirit that he hoped could be believed.

They spoke most every evening and shared jokes throughout the day,
No matter what was posted they just knew what words to say,
Their friendship quickly blossomed and future plans were set,
A promise to meet up for real with no worry or regret.

He found his quarry easily by check-in time and date,
No need for a routine when it's served up on a plate,
The days of stalking people just a story from the past,
Now everything you need is on the webpage they viewed last.

The address wasn't far away and not that hard to find,
He laughed at how the internet was built with this in mind,
Walking through the neighbourhood like home was just ahead,
No one could suspect what he had planned to do instead.

He peered into the window at his target unaware,
Lost in a realm of binary without a worldly care,
Staring deep into a glowing screen that held a phrase of dread,
"Close that Facebook window and look up at me instead!"

Walking down this path of hate,
A darkness that will not sedate,
This nightmare no one could create,
So far from that once peaceful state.

Now sinking in this sea of shame,
A cloud of hurt that has no name,
A coldness where there once was flame,
In feelings I can’t seem to tame.

Descending in my own despair,
This broken soul beyond repair,
My heart dissolves each thought and care,
To leave me with no love to spare.

So here I lay beyond remorse,
Where destiny has run its course,
My time to go back to the source,
Beyond all realms of human force.

A slave I was, but noble born,
A prince to be, they said in scorn,
A soldier bred, in pain and blood,
A single wave within the flood.

A war I fought, each battle won,
A thousand dead, I spared no one,
A field of spikes, my calling card,
A broken mass all burned and scarred.

A journey home, a prince at last,
A world away, that war-torn past,
A wife and son, a peace long sought,
A haven from all those I fought.

A tribute due, a price too high,
A choice to make, to fight or die,
A road to ride, a deal to make,
A slender chance I have to take.

A brother once, my noble kin,
A traitor now, not worth his skin,
A promise made, an oath he broke,
A final straw, no time to choke.

A war begun, a siege to come,
A day to plan, before the scrum,
A saviour found, a dream to dare,
A hellish choice, this curse to bear.

Make me happy,
Make me sad,
Make me all that gets you mad,

Give me colour,
Give me shape,
Give me wings for my escape,

Take my essence,
Take my heart,
Take my image in your art,

Keep me captive,
Keep me whole,
Keep me framed in your control.

skin the touch of liquid fire,
singeing through the soul's desire,

fingers run through satin hair,
afloat as angel wings on air,

eyes by which the stars are showered,
heart and mind are overpowered,

tears my soul and life apart,
this creature captivates my heart.

Souls are formed before our birth,
Sent down to live with us on earth,
Brought from the void into the light,
Instructed in both wrong and right.

Souls unite with skin and bone,
Our mind designed to be their throne,
Directing us throughout our life,
Connecting us through joy and strife.

Souls will share the things they know,
With those that learn the way to go,
Their gifts will shape the world we see,
Creating all we’ll come to be.

Incomplete right from the start,
An empty space within each heart,
Two souls without some vital part,
Forever doomed to live apart.

Two shadows drifting through the years,
Both changing shapes and shifting gears,
Without true love to ease their fears,
Alone and lost inside their tears.

Until one day the story changed,
The pages turned and rearranged,
No longer were their hearts estranged,
Joined through these vows they have exchanged.

Complete at last and truly whole,
Two lives combined within each soul,
Their paths now shared in one patrol,
True love at last in their control.

When all the world is cold and dark,
and life has left its cruel mark,

When you've lost all faith and hope,
and feel as if you cannot cope,

I’ll be right there within your heart,
and in that place we'll never part.

He travelled far and journeyed wide,
To find those with a spark inside,
Each one a sacred gift of love,
A soul descended from above.

He found her in a dark despair,
Lost in a world with none to care,
Her bright eyes drowning in her tears,
This slave to weaker people's fears.

He told her that she held a spark,
A light to guide her through the dark,
This power she'd hid for too long,
The chorus to her siren's song.

He took her hand and held it tight,
To save her from the dark of night,
Their bond beyond all love and lust,
A sanctuary of hope and trust.

He watched her dream in silent sleep,
Her mind still gripped by pain so deep,
A broken doll so incomplete.
This fallen angel at his feet.

He took her from the world she knew,
Towards the dawn of life anew,
Another land beyond the stars,
To mend her wings and heal her scars.

He helped her grow across the years,
As slowly they allayed her fears,
Until she spread her wings at last,
And left her old life in the past.

Lights are dimmed in hallways dark,
But for a door marked "Thomas Stark",
A shadow steps up to the door,
One knock, two, and then one more,

"Come in, please", our hero cries,
In she comes, tears in her eyes,
"Help me, please! My baby's gone!"
"They said you'd help- that you're the one!"

Tom takes her in and sits her down,
A stunning girl despite her frown,
"Of course I'll help- I'm here for you-"
"Please tell me what I need to do!"

She smiles then- a sight to see,
Her hair like golden destiny,
"Oh, thank you! I'm so very glad!"
"She's run away- I feel so bad!"

Now Thomas looks on in a haze,
Confused and lost and in a daze,
"You're baby's run away?" he says,
"I've never heard of such a phrase!"

She laughs- a sound so sweet and light,
He watches her- each curve so right,
"Oh, silly me, I should have said-"
"I've lost my dog- right from her bed!"

So Thomas laughs- the story clear,
"Ah, now I see; and don't you fear!"
"When was it that you saw her last?"
"What is her name? we must move fast!"

Our lady stands and takes Tom's hand,
Her hands are soft- no wedding band,
"Her name is 'Sparkles', such a dear-"
"I saw her last two blocks from here!"

Young Thomas guides her to the door,
He grabs his coat from off the floor,
"We'll find her- don't you worry, miss!"
"and when we do, perhaps a kiss?"

Her blushing cheek caused Tom to smile,
On they went to search each mile,
No more than two or three roads gone,
They heard a bark from the next one,

"Sparkles? is that you my dear?"
"please come back home- I need you near!"
A massive mound of mammoth fur,
Came rushing at them in a blur,

"Is that your baby 'sparkles', love?"
"I hope it is... heavens above!"
As Sparkles ran towards them both,
Young Thomas took a solemn oath-

To stand his ground and be man,
As falling was not in his plan,
Yet when the dog had made a stop,
Both man and woman there did drop,

Yet both did laugh and cry with joy,
As Tom felt like a playground boy,
Then standing up, she took his arm,
and on they walked now safe from harm,

With Sparkles loyal at their side,
They returned safe and went inside,
And thus our hero won his prize,
While staring deep into love's eyes.

We're all made of exploding stars,
A product of our cuts and scars,
Dwelling in the healing dark,
As we prepare to show our spark.

We're all made of exploding stars,
Our hearts locked behind frozen bars,
Dwelling on the pain we've felt,
Until the ice within can melt.

We're all made of exploding stars,
Just passing by en route to Mars,
Dwelling on the rush of days,
Shining in our special ways.

Show me the way and light up my life,

Show me the world and what we could be,
stay in my life and share it with me.

Here am I- alone and scared,
A wanderer still unprepared,
A hero with no battles won,
A shadow waiting for the sun.

Here am I- forever lost,
A sacrifice not worth the cost,
A star devoid of energy,
A soul without a destiny.

Here am I- in need of love,
A demon cast from high above,
A whisper of an ancient sound,
A blight upon this sacred ground.

Wolves, we walk amongst the sheep,
Draped in smiles that hide our fangs,
Cloaked in manners and good deeds,
All to hide our hunger pangs,

Night, our home and natural realm,
Striving to be more than beast,
Keeping distance from the herd,
Deep in darkness where we feast,

Safe, we stay amongst our kin,
Sharing life with those who know,
Bonds that cross our mortal years,
Love that lasts and ever grows,

Truth, a dream we long to see,
Healing this most ancient scar,
Walking tall amongst the lambs,
Showing who we really are.

Silhouette against the wall,
Crimson lips from shadows call,
Shapely curves and scented hair,
Lust and longing fill the air,

Angel kneeling down to me,
Demon aching to be free,
Glowing for the world to see,
Taking all the life from me,

Ecstasy beyond all measure,
Pain is equal to the pleasure,
Day to night- no sense of time,
Night to day- my world sublime,

Gone for all eternity,
Lost to all I used to be,
Trapped in immortality,
Deep in this depravity.

This burning pain within my chest,
the demon screams and will not rest,
he craves that which i cannot give,
the root of life so he can live,

This draining force within my veins,
the creature feeds and yet refrains,
he punishes to make me bend,
to give him life, this evil friend,

This stabbing pain within my head,
the monster turns my vision red,
he hungers for that taste so sweet,
in trade for life beyond defeat,

This yearning deep within my skin,
the ****** begs my soul to sin,
release him from this cage inside,
to quench his thirst and join his side.

The sun is rising in the sky,
her tiny voice emits a cry,
her first look at the world around,
her mother's voice the only sound.

The sun is higher in the sky,
her little legs find strength to try,
her first steps in this magic world,
her wonder at this life unfurled.

The sun is further in the sky,
her sleep brings dreams where she can fly,
her mind learns what her heart can do,
her heart learns all that can be true.

The sun moves on across the sky,
her heart is pure but often shy,
her hopes are in each parent's hand,
her future waits for her to stand.

Those precious little moments,
Where hearts like ours could mend,
When love was all we lived for,
And dreams could never end.

Each precious little moment,
The hopes we held inside,
The good and bad encountered,
All taken in our stride.

Those precious little moments,
When we walked hand in hand,
No longer to be shared by us,
Despite all that we’d planned.

Each precious little moment,
Wrapped in each others arms,
A safely now long gone to me,
Sat here lost in my qualms.

Those precious little moments,
Where love still found a way,
Shared by our souls forever,
No matter what we say.

Each precious little moment,
We never should regret,
The time we had was special,
I will not soon forget.

Look into her deep brown eyes,
See the truth in her disguise,
Feel the warmth within her soul,
Give your heart to her control.

Search within her mind for doubt,
Find nothing but truth throughout,
Take her hand into your own,
Start a path to the unknown.

View the world through her dark eyes,
Seek her love and tell no lies,
Never leave nor travel far,
Share your world and all you are.

I wander the world with the mask of a clown,
Determined to never reveal that I’m down,
The life of the party or so it would seem,
Disguising my sorrow as living the dream.

I walk in the shadows beneath this black cloud,
Lost in these dark thoughts I can’t speak out loud,
Adrift in a cold sea of doubt and despair,
I smile through the pain and pretend I don’t care.

I’ve known love and laughter and shared in their light,
United the world in my comedic might,
Yet surrounded by people I still stand alone,
A stranger amongst all the friends that I’ve known.

I’ve encountered more demons than angels by far,
And battled them both with many a scar,
But looking back now on a life spent at war,
I need to find peace and not fight any more.

Darkness fills my weary head,
As chaos grows within,
The shadows of another life,
put this one in a spin.

Darkness calls my tortured soul,
as colours fade to grey,
The whispers of another life,
help facing each new day.

Darkness paints my broken dreams,
as sorrow takes its hold,
The shelter of another life,
protects me from the cold.

Darkness speaks my heart's desires,
as silence takes my voice,
The secrets of another life,
leave me without a choice.

Darkness drinks my poisoned thoughts,
as heaven drifts from sight,
The escape of another life,?
consoles my soul each night.

The past weighs heavy on my mind,
Its shadow ever close behind,
A presence never hard to find,
Its power renders all life blind.

The present takes a constant hold,
Its grip imprisons young and old,
A nightmare dark and ever cold,
Its bitter song plays loud and bold.

The future floats just out of reach,
Its lessons cruel and hard to teach,
A distant dream we all beseech,
Its promise lost in mortal speech.

Running through this foreign land,
Sifting through the dust and sand,
Digging in a frenzied burst,
Nothing there to quench my thirst,

Tripping on the rock of doubt,
Ground is cracking all about,
Falling through the clouds of hope,
Grabbing for life's fraying rope,

Time is lost in blinding light,
Earth and sky lost from my sight,
Terror echoes through my scream,
In my bed, naught but a dream.

This season is for unity,
A time of hope and light,
When all the world forgives the wrong,
As day gives way to night.

This season is for charity,
A time of love and life,
When all the world sings in one voice,
And prays to end all strife.

This season is for family,
A time of joy and cheer,
When all the world is one with love,

See shadows drift through open doors,
feel heavy boots on wooden floors,

Let panic take on full control,
as fear consumes both heart and soul,

Hear metal scrape on plastered walls,
as foot steps echo through the halls,

Deep in the dark the nightmares wait,
with thoughts of death, that sense of fate,

The act is quick and without pain,
the spine soon severed from the brain,

Now take the knife, assume the form,
the killer lives, their soul reborn.

The force that binds us, sets us free,
to see the light of destiny,
to build the temple walls again,
within the hearts and minds of men.

The truth is here for all to see,
the god that lives in you and me,
a heaven closer than we think,
the knowledge lost to make that link.

The force that made us, breaks us too,
until we find that path so true,
the world repeats this age old tale,
until we find the holy grail.

The secrets of our ancient kin,
are locked away within our skin,
to find them we must all believe,
atonement shall we thus receive.

My logic is a crutch in all the chaos that I see,
A guiding light into the dark that ever follows me,
A secret world far from this life that no one else can find,
My haven in this hell of man kept safely in my mind.

My faith is what defines my life and something none can shake,
A different beast from dogma that no mortal man could make,
A secret force inside of me that shapes the world I see,
My saviour from the past and source of all I've come to be.

My love is something few will see and even less will share,
A gift and curse bestowed on those for whom I truly care,
A secret kept from those that would destroy what lies within,
My heart and soul protected from all but my dearest kin.

Sometimes I want to run away,
Just leave all this behind,
To escape to another world,
That no one else can find.

And yet deep down I see the light,
Just what I know is true,
To swear beyond all realm of doubt,
That I belong with you.

Sometimes I want more than I should,
Just one more chance to live,
To taste of that forbidden fruit,
If life could but forgive.

And yet I need no more than this,
Just for all that we share,
To stay right here where I belong,
With those who really care.

Sometimes I want to end it all,
Just close that final door,
To stop the endless march of time,
And sleep forever more.

And yet I know that all is now,
Just as was meant to be,
To stand by all the vows we spoke,
That still hold true to me.

Sometimes I want to scream out loud,
Just let it all flow free,
To release all the hurt within,
So all the world can see.

And yet I know you share my pain,
Just one more sign of love,
To be as one eternally,
Just like the stars above.

Here I sit among the shadows,
dreaming of the things we'd do,
heart hit hard by cupid's arrows,
lost within my thoughts of you,

Here I lie upon the ground,
the world seems like a noisy zoo,
singing softly to the wind,
lost within my thoughts of you,

Here I walk along the cliff,
wishing I were close to you,
thinking, praying, for a moment,
lost within my thoughts of you,

Here I stand alone and scared,
the world seems dark and colder too,
dreaming of a different time,
lost within my thoughts of you.

If only I could touch your face,
and tell you how you have hurt me,
to make our two souls one again,
restore what once was you and me.

A vampire's bite may sting and bleed,
but that's nothing to what you've done,
my heart broke into a million pieces,
why could you not leave it as one?

You gave me strength when I was weak,
but it was fake- though I believed,
no one can question what was done,
for it was me that you deceived.

Maybe someday I’ll forgive,
on the day this pain subsides,
I'll never stop my love for you,
although our love is like the tides,

It rises up and covers all,
then it sinks, beneath the shore,
I really hope we'll be together,
my love for you goes to the core.

All I hope is that you change,
for as you are, you make me cry,
for this is true, I swear it is,
I’ll love you till the day I die,

But love and like are different things,
I love you more than I can say,
but I don't like what you've become,
if you can change in that one way,

Then I could like you once again,
if that was done, I know we would,
be together once again,
I really do believe we could.

So, my love, I say once more,
change for me, and I’ll be yours once more,
the love we had was something special,
to be with you is what I long for.

fleeting moments, gone they seem,
secret thoughts, our minds redeem,

timeless points of endless joy,
countless lives we all destroy,

empty dreams of happy times,
restless nights where panic climbs,

days long gone we soon re-live,
forgotten acts we must forgive.

So little done, so much to do,
so little time for me and you,

so little left, so much behind,
so little hope still there to find,

so little now, so much back then,
so little time to start again,

so little said, so much to mend,
so little love left for a friend.

The past is just behind us,
A shadow in our wake,
A chronicle of choices and decisions that we make.

The present is beside us,
Walking hand in hand,
Pondering as we do on all that we understand.

The future lies before us,
A glimmer in the dark,
A journey waiting just ahead on which we must embark.

You and I, in love forever,
All we wish, to be together,
As of yet, this cannot be,
We cannot be just you and me,

But on my heart, this I swear,
One day we’ll meet, and then we’ll share,
What we feel about each other,
Free from thoughts of any other,

To be alone, just you and me,
My only wish, I say to thee,
For you mean more to me than life,
You clear my mind of all my strife,

You mean the world to me and more,
I’ll love you now and ever more,
My heart belongs to you alone,
You’ve shown me love, a world unknown.
