The ink fades to beige
A voice pulls me from the page
But the boughs and hills remain
Desperately, I muster
My eyes, alight—brisingr
The third poem in my four-part tanka series inspired by The Inheritance Cycle.
That moment when you're pulled back to reality, but part of you still lingers in the story.
The magic stays with you—even after the book closes.
I am a cherry blossom in the breeze
facing the bright blue sky with glee.
My petals dance in morning bliss
with the butterflies flying free.

A wish sent with the wind

Invasive to some

A beautiful meadow to others
Stop trying to prove you aren't a ****
Bask in the warmth of those holding you like a flower

It’s like I’m looking for ways to avoid myself

(I’m looking for ways to not care)

It’s like I’m going around every corner trying to avoid my own stare

It’s like I’m running away from a shadow

(Yet I know it’s always there)

I’m afraid of every part of me I swear…

They want me to love myself???

                      “Say hi!”

  Look in the mask

         There’s blood

                     It’s stained.

Avoiding myself

(a lonely ride)

All of the ways I could

           -complain-

Look to my heart and you’ll see

     (inside it steadily bleeds)

Blood veil drags behind me
                       &
I don’t know how to scream

You broke me but I’m still here starving for more.

- I still love you, please come back.

Out of all the choices in life I could’ve been anything,
but I only wanted to be yours.

- whenever you’re ready I’ll be here
