My desire is that
an abundance of these
will pour upon your life
and that of your household

I've tried writing sophisticated vocabularies
But they don't seem to run in my capillaries
My eyes are opened to the depth
In the seemingly shallow things
There is nothing basic about basic
If not well understood
There are lot of things that

Not to talk of comprehend
I guess, We just want to get to the end

It's quite hard to keep a person's attention
How quickly we lose our concentration

A damsel sitted alone at the bar
When my eyes landed on her
I immediately lost my train of thoughts
I froze in the middle of my words
Mouth left ajar

in prison for popping a wheelie

Sometimes, that sh*t gets me paranoid
esp. when dealing with people of my color
You relate with them with a clean heart,
Show them love & treat them like family

Only for them to act back with bitterness and jealousy
Some will even try to stick a knife in your back
& when you keep a distance, they call it pride

It's my duty to protect my peace of mind
So I keep only the loyal ones by my side
Because we look alike doesn't mean we
think alike. Small circle, less trouble. My motto.

I'm tired of them snitches
They stab your back and still put stitches
Cause you problem, pretend to fix it
Make plans with you but they switch things
I told you my idea but you pitched it

We out there at every picnic
But behind, you try to ***** me
I trusted, but all u do is trick me

It all feels like a film trick!

Criminally minded politicians
acting saints
Evil doers getting praised
Innocent ones stuck in chains
The rich and ***** go scot-free
While the poor is severely punished

On the streets, cops ****
Skin color is still an issue
Several hundreds die 'cause of their religious beliefs
Drug overdose is on the increase
Gangbanging in the hoods still claiming lives
I hate guns
but a gun is not killer, humans are!

Genuine trust is as rare as the Unicorn
Maybe the beautiful souls are yet to be born or they are long gone

What of the epidemy of baby mama and baby dads
Kids raised with no father figure in their lives
They’ve got to find their way in a world so evil
They end up been taken advantage of and
Many becoming parents in their teens

We live in a society
Where getting money is rated higher
than living with integrity
Who cares if someone is getting hurt,
so far my pocket is getting fat
The thoughts of a self-centered heart

Even the environment is suffering
Global warming
Plastics in the oceans
Tons and tons of trees are fell
Our rivers and seas are polluted
At the end of the day,
We all face the consequences

Computers are helping a lot
But also taking people's jobs
A lot are depressed
From spending too much time on the internet
Tortured by other's fake online presence

I bet you, the list goes on and on...
It almost feels like a curse
How do we save ourselves from ourselves
How do we separate the chaff from the wheat?
How do we redeem the beasts in human skin?
I guess it all begins with you and me
Nothing but love can restore our sanity

Tweet your dreams and plans
And it could get poked like a Facebook user
Share your personal strategies on Instagram
And better hope it lasts longer than a Snapchat's story
What I'm saying in essence is,
Keep your personal life off social media!

Like a bird stuck in a cage
with an open door
Some are held in a box
Due to perceived distorted self-image

There are other boxes
created by the society
Boxes of race, age, class, gender (etc)
Preventing individuals from living to their full potentials

Different labels or tags devised
To shackle people
from being their very best
A pit not to fall into

I lay my heart at Your feet
I surrender my life to Your lead
I offer my mouth, use it as Your flute
Let my mouth be a conduit
for Your word to go through
Let my worship come to You
as a sweet smelling fragrance
Let my story be that of Your grace
Let my actions speak of Your love
Let my heart be clean towards all (wo)men
Let my gaze be on You primarily
May I not be carried away by earthly things
May I rely not on my own understanding
nor think that it's by my own might
May you forever by my Lord!

Have you ever had to linger a bit

Later to have that line stuck in your head all day
You try hard to forget it but it wouldn't fade
Just like the memory of someone you love even after you've parted ways.

My imaginative prowess
Sometimes, I forget you

Beware of their manipulations

Brokenness doesn't imply uselessness
A dead leaf still nourishes the soil
and aids the growth of other plants
A broken pencil can create a masterpiece
An egg has to break for the chick to appear
You are super amazing just as you are!

Often times, reaching outwards is the wrong way to go
When inwards, the answer is known
We often seek people's approval
While giving that still inner voice a dismissal!

How ironic that we cast stones
At a man that looks like us
Not physically
But in actions and deeds

It's much easier to see another's misdeeds
Even though, we are planting similar seeds
But ours, we wouldn't see
Isn't that hypocrisy?

I suggest we drop our stones
And pick up a mirror
Some of us have beams in our eyes
And our hearts are waxing colder than ice
