Overanxious about tomorrow
Forgetting to live in the present
Ungrateful for the breath, that's
one thing that cannot be borrowed

To whom is tomorrow guaranteed
What's the need for all the greed
Sometimes, it's needful to take a chill
Slow down and create lovely memories

Spend quality time with families
Sit round the table,
eating home cooked meals
It's important to reach all your dreams
But don't lose yourself in the journey.

Once beaten, twice shy

I was knocked down but

Staggered in the air for a little while

A stitch in time saves nine
With the doubters, I didn't bother
wasting my own time

I straightway got on my grind
With a fully determined mind
I used their naysaying as gas
Now, I'm balanced above the clouds
Where they told me I will never reach

Now they are questioning me like,
how did you even do it?
I simply replied... By facing my fears
It definitely took blood and tears

But I couldn't back off
I'm grateful that my resilience is finally paying off
And I'm just getting started,
this is just the take off.

Please do not say sorry
As tears freely flow from my eyes
They are streams of praises to the Most High
They are raindrops after a long time of drought

Watch me water my scars
As they shine like stars in the night sky
Signs of victory they are
Testaments of battles conquered

As I eat the fruits of the seed sown
And extract from my discovered gold mine

I don't like you
I really despise you
A mixture of pain and pleasure
Like a tasty but spicy food

I showed you the red light
But it wasn't enough to stop you
I put spikes all over the place

I asked him this honest question
Please, why are you so quick to judge?
And to my surprise,
He gave me an honest answer...

Because it makes him feel better at himself
It's a way to console his broken self
It helps him counter the demons in his head

To all of these, I replied/enquired...
Have you considered using love?
It was a cooing dove
that broke the silence!

Well-equipped for the journey ahead
The only opposing factor is fear
How do you embark on a trip that
you can't even see its end?
Different voices playing in his head
Butterflies fluttering in his belly

Grab the rung of the ladder with courage
It all begins with a single step (with faith)
Fear is a prerequisite to acting bravely
Stare the challenge in the eyes
Take a deep breath... then act
Victory is waiting on the other side

...And this time
She didn't want him to fix her situation
She only needed him to listen carefully
To understand her feelings & emotions
without him trying to offer any solution

But his brain was like a search engine
Busy scanning and searching for answers
Thus, failing to make an emotional connection.

*******... She reached for the door
But he was wise enough to not let her go
Then he asked where he had gone wrong
With tears in her eyes, she said...
Empathy means more to her than a quick fix

And he totally agreed that he had flawed
He then listened intently to her, knodding
his head as she poured out her heart
And that night ended with a warmly hug
That's all she desired & she slept with a smile.

This is not a call to lower your defenses
But to know who the real enemy is
Fighting a fellow being is like beating the air
A mere waste of resources

The real enemy is not clothed in flesh
Nor powered by blood
So, before you find an enemy in another being
Remember, the enemy is not that which is seen.

The human heart is a world of its own
Access into it is one of the hardest things I know
The inhabitants hardly come out as well
And when they do, they disguise most times

They have a veil of sweet words
Often give you a different impression
It would take proper examination
To see the main intention

If you can take an aerial view of most hearts
It's darker than KitKat
Please when you find a pure heart
Give it the respect it deserves!

I was on a journey to being perfect
On this road, the landmarks were my defects
The walls were painted with my mistakes
Passersby constantly hailed my weakness

The path was dark and lonely
Felt so ugly, those comments really bruised me
Was eager to fight like I was Bruce Lee
My thoughts said everybody ******* me

Definitely, my saddest venture ever
I thought I was very clever
Gladly, I found an escape through the sewer

Oh, What an awful adventure
Welcomed myself back to reality
Learnt to appreciate my inner treasure
Helped me live above mediocrity.

His light is shed abroad in our hearts
But we'll rather choose to stay in the dark
He declared His victory to be ours
But we'll still rather choose to fight
This life that I live is not mine
But why do I hold on to it tight
He's freely made all things ours
But we rely on our own power and might
He's paid the entire price
But we still act like we owe
I am the way, the truth and the life
But we'll rather listen to all the lies
It's time we embrace
and run with the true light

The mind is like a plunge pool
Where waterfall of thoughts
And information flows into
The size and depth of the pool depends on
The volume and height of the waterfall
The hardness of the mind also determines
How deep the pool can go

On an unhardened mind!
