Every morning, on my way to work
I see this "old" man (in his seventies)
Walking his beloved wife to the bus stop
Her bag in his right hand
The other hand interlocked in hers

I smile right behind them
as they take step after step
talking to each other
I could hear the tone of love
in their voice
I never hear the words
(not my business I guess)

Their eyes would meet frequently
as they talk and walk
With smile blooming on their faces
I never tried to overtake them
'cause it's such a beauty to behold
A proof to me that love never gets old

At the stop sign,
He carefully places the bag back
in her hand,
followed by a short hug
Before turning his back
to head for their home

It's such a wonderful sight and
It has never failed to
leave me in awe every single time.

Searching in the library of my soul
To find words untold (by me)
And to my surprise
Herein lies the story of my life
A written description of who I really am

Uncovered parts of me that I didn't know
Found answers to my long unanswered questions
Discovered my true essence
Oh, a lot of things now makes sense!

He fights all his battles
with the consciousness of a winner
To the past tough challenges,
He's proven himself tougher

He's aware of his inner strength
And he will persevere till any length
I wouldn't say he doesn't have any fear
But he won't allow the fear hold him back

Needless to say, he's not arrogant
He's not proud not to ask for helping hands
He's persistent and he has high tolerance
He knows his victory is sure in the end.

I asked him this honest question
Please, why are you so quick to judge?
And to my surprise,
He gave me an honest answer...

Because it makes him feel better at himself
It's a way to console his broken self
It helps him counter the demons in his head

To all of these, I replied/enquired...
Have you considered using love?
It was a cooing dove
that broke the silence!

Son, shine bright everyday
Don't let them control your
brightness like that of a phone screen

It's not everyone that comes your way
that is meant to be in your life
So Son, you've got to mount your screen (sieve)

Make an impact in your world
Not because of being on the TV screen
But to fulfil your forewritten destiny

I wanna ball till I'm 90
like a soccer game
Anything above that age
will be extra time
But I guess I wouldn't mind

I'm still somewhere in the first half
So far I've played foul a few times
I've been warned with a few yellow cards
Now, I've learned to play fair
Happy I am to have scored a number of goals

It's thrilling to see what the future of the game holds
I put all my trust in God, that's my coach
I'll continue to train and grow
Until the final whistle is blown.

He is loved by all
Except by...himself
In his "alone moments", he drowns in tears
He can't seem to run away from his fears
He can't hush the demons yelling in his head
It felt like his life was hanging on a tiny piece of thread
He longed for the day it would all end

But one day, He found a new friend
He met the One called Love
And his story was turned around
His hope was fully restored
He discovered his true worth
He became a new being
Totally transformed
What an encounter he had with Jesus!

hopelessness    ||      Hopefulness
darkness           ||          Brightness
forsaken ============== Chosen
brokenness.....  ||         Wholeness
slavery (to sin) ||               Mastery
powerlessness  ||     Powerfulness

He chose self-love above all
(But surely, the love for God comes first)
Why would he choose himself first,
they questioned
Gently he answered...
If everyone decides to depart
He is all that he's got.

On that cross,
His sweat and blood were dripping
If I was in His shoes, I would be cursing
But He did the opposite, He was praying
"Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing"

The Son of God became sin
He died, sin died and was done with forever
The story didn't end with His death
3 days later, He was raised by the Father
And He ushered us into life eternal

We became heirs of the promises
Worthy branches of His Vine
Called to a life full of bliss
Glory to the risen King!

Thoughts dwelling in my mind like a foetus
waiting to be born into this world as a poem
To glisten before the eyes of the reader
And to linger in their minds even days after
I'll patiently wait for the words to mature
To be released in its purest form.

No gold nor silver nor any precious stone
is beautiful enough to build a house to
house His Spirit
He's found the quarters of my being His domicile
His Spirit intermingled with mine
An inseparable union established by His own will
His love showered on me generously
Chosen and sustained by His grace!
