I began to pour out my heart
Throwing up all the issues
That had been corroding my mind
For quite a while

I saw his throat well up
With words of advice or consolation
I told him to hush
All I needed were listening ears
A hug right now would worth
More than a thousand words!

This is not a call to lower your defenses
But to know who the real enemy is
Fighting a fellow being is like beating the air
A mere waste of resources

The real enemy is not clothed in flesh
Nor powered by blood
So, before you find an enemy in another being
Remember, the enemy is not that which is seen.

She was playing hard to get
But really, we were creating memories
Too sweet to forget

In my heart, I placed a bet
That we would be together like a set
Knit in and out like threads in a net

And yes! I won the bet
Two hearts are mine
As much as they are hers.

He got played
And kicked out
By the ones he called trusted friends
And sadly he fell

None of them could tell
That he was going to land on a spring
Zoom...He took off
Balancing above their heads
A blessing in disguise

Propelled to his Promised Land
A can of worms
Metamorphosed to
A *** of gold.

I love deciduous trees
I think they are smart
This is what they do

During harsh seasons (tough times)
They shed their leaves
To conserve their resources
That they might survive

When everything seems right
They grow the leaves again
A smart move by trees
To focus on what's most important
Without considering what humans think.

Take off your robe and wig
And quit being a Judge
The person you are judging
Is at the peak of his battles

His guns are running out of bullets
He's losing it already
Your words and actions are missiles
You could be on his team,
Instead of aiming at him

Stop pressuring him
You are taking camouflage off his face
You have no idea what he's going through
The least you could do is let him be.

Don't play with my head
Or play in my head,
That I am alone
Say it with whatever tone
It won't move me an inch

By myself, I'm a strong army
We'll bring any wall down
On the inside, I'm infused with power
Strength to stand tall, not to cower

This heart of mine is a bank of love
I'm cool with all like a river bank
Even if I'm by myself,
I'm never alone.

How ironic that we cast stones
At a man that looks like us
Not physically
But in actions and deeds

It's much easier to see another's misdeeds
Even though, we are planting similar seeds
But ours, we wouldn't see
Isn't that hypocrisy?

I suggest we drop our stones
And pick up a mirror
Some of us have beams in our eyes
And our hearts are waxing colder than ice

Whenever we speak
I can feel my entire being,
My heartbeat, my breathing
I mean, all of me
Choreographing
To the sound of your voice
It is always an euphoric moment.

The same letters that spell please
Also spell elapse
There is but a limited time
That we have on earth

Don't let your time elapse
While trying to please others
Spend yours answering your own calls
And not attending to diverted calls

Gone are the days
When Mother Nature was a close neighbor
And a loved one
But we've forced her out to build roads, rails and whatnot

Did we dominate to contaminate?
She meant no evil, can't we reciprocate?

I used to look at her from my windows
And appreciate her beauty
Now, I have to take time off
To find her and hope that she's intact.

Emotions running loose
And getting trapped by
A fence made from papers
With pillars of pen,
Which in turn paints the fence
With emotional arts.

Getting high on drugs, alcohol and the likes
Doesn't solve problems nor fix issues
The best they could offer is temporary distraction
Which later fades away into worse negative emotions

Cry is not just the visible tears
That roll down the cheeks
But the weighty matters residing in the heart
That makes one feel sick
Sometimes, it's hidden behind a smile

If you keep winning
Without learning anything new
You're probably too grown for that level
It's about time to level up

When it seems like you lost
But you learnt at least one tangible lesson
Then, it's not a total loss

The visible could be deceitful
When you shine your inner light
That which appears like a burden
Would suddenly becomes light

Trials and tribulations
Tests and persecutions
Trying times
Tormenting periods

They are all for a season
For faith workout reasons
My friend, do not cower
Let your faith rise like a tower

I won't give up
I won't give in
I won't cave in

These are my proclamations
And this too shall pass
Soon, I will look back and say
Yay, Season has changed!

I do ask myself this question
Are we still connected as humans?
The first answer that comes to my mind...
Yes, we are...
Connected by our social media profile pages

Emotional connection, it used to be
Face to face, we used to see
Face time has been replaced by FaceTime
Audible laughs replaced by emojis and lols

Loss of Laughs
Loss of Love
I understand that it helps us reach farther people
But I'm not sure it's made us better people

Faith came to me in the night
Told me about a journey for the next day
In the early morning we hit the road
He replaced one of my eyes with his

Then he put work in my hands
And he went way ahead of me
He told me "your eye could see things
That would get you scared
Close your eye and see with mine"

The journey wasn't as easy as I thought
So many times I got stuck
Then, I would see with his eye
And suddenly a way would pave
Oh, I wouldn't forget the "Doubts" cave!

Sometimes, he would come back to pull me out
He was the help I couldn't do without
To cut the long story short
After the countless hills and valleys
We made it back home with all the work fully done

From then, I learnt to walk by Faith!

He has a bad attitude
But he wears the blame on other people
He never tried the blame on for once
Maybe it never crossed his mind
Or he thinks he's too right to ever do wrong

I liken him to a blind man
Looking at several mirrors
But could never see himself
And calls all the mirrors blind

Maybe the bad attitude is not the problem
But that he is blind to see himself
Or arrogant to accept his wrongs
And that he's not a flower but thorns!

Always show little acts of kindness
If you can, offer the big ones too
It could heal the recipient's (unseen) wounds
It could spark hope again in the receiver

A "tiny" favor can make a person believe again
It could awaken a mustard seed sized faith
Powerful enough to move mountains
Offer the help expecting nothing in return

Just like the Sun,
Let your light beam
You might be waking up sleepy dreams
Do good and do it again and again!

She is like my all-weather tires
The type that you NEVER have to change
She's been with me at all seasons
She's not the one I ride on
But the one that keeps me going

Flashback to the days when we were kids
After school and house chores,
We used to come together on the street
With our canvases, to paint our dreams
And the kind of future we want to live

Regularly, we'll touch up our paintings
Inspire one another to make positive changes
Our future looked bright in our faces
We watched ourselves live through different life phases

One of my besties started doing wrong
Getting high and using drugs
His amazing painting fading before our eyes
Before we knew it, he was completely drawn

Looking at him today makes me cry
His situation is very dire
I hope he recovers from this snare
And be the man of his childhood painting
