the sun's beaming face
did smile upon the landscape
with a bright visage
a veil of light cloud
covers the stellar shows glints
with its fine blanket
a light mist tarried
o'er the verdant river flats
as first light did break
in shallow waters
newly hatched fingerlings
swam with swishing tails
gelid wind blusters
drove a freezing current's trail
through the snow clad dales
choruses of birds
sang joyfully in the tree tops
as a bright sun rose
on higher regions
of the tablelands this very night
snow flurries will fall
a heavy sheet of frost
draped over our township
earlier this morning
night's skirling strong winds
were more subdued before
the morn's dawning light
as last vestiges
of sun reclined westward
the day light dimmed
as winter sets in
village chimneys belch their smoke
more prevalently
everyday we meet
with a cocktail of chemicals
in our food and air
horse tail clouds drifted
across the blue parchment sky
this dazzling spring day
the sun's glowing heat
hid behind the cloud's retreat
twas not a fine treat
to impart your love
is akin to giving life
inhale its oxygen
atop the east hills
an outer edge of sun rays
were seen early this morn
the sun has gone down
on the last days of the run
ending all her fun
promising cloud bands
filled with a moisture salve
veer away from here
as the wind currents
are changing they indicate
a seasonal shift
war is a madness
that causes too much sadness
let saneness prevail
cherish what you have
as some people have not a thing
be ever grateful
yellow daises bloom
on my dried out back lawn
yet bees reap pollen
an ill did blow in
on the east's virulent wind
carrying a malady
around the wheat field
orange winged butteries
gracefully danced
the sun's shining beams
did burnish the bushland stream
in a glossy gleam
a tempest now brews
thunder rolls o'er the township
rumbling its echo
soon we'll say goodbye
to winter's boreal order
of freezing disdain
little raindrop tears cling
to the carnation's petals
like spray on pink cheeks
a light veiling fog
loitered o'er the river
on this Thursday morn
a white coat of frost
covered the spindly grass
near our town's river
on the grass blades
tiny glass dewdrops closely clung
to reflect rainbows
the sun just peeped
out from behind swathing clouds
to show some bright rays
lulling soft droplets
fell upon the old tin roof
slumbering my eyes
through magenta clouds
dazzling shards of eve sunlight
did cleverly cut
night's black velvet cape
spangled in stellar diamonds
twas a stunning show
beams of golden shine
rippled atop the creek's trace
glowing in shimmer
eloquently spoken
were those most silent of words
their message well heard
thick plumes of smoke
hang over the hinterland
its akin to soot
spring's vibrant colours
emerge from winter's cocoon
to show festive blooms
nippy twas the morn
as a thick sheet of frost lay
upon the bush ground
the colors of spring
emerge from winter's cocoon
of white snow wrapping
thundering trumpets
thundered through the township
tooting thunderously
her orb's silver beams
shall regale the sky's dark realm
a moon new in phase
out of the darkness
emerged a lamplighter
shedding his bright glow
mere specks on the globe
are we yet each one of us
so significant
trees lose bark covers
like a brown snake shedding skin
to reveal new coats
on the forest floor
the dappled shadows did play
on that summer's day
Ruby's ravishing rock
received many rave reviews
was of richest red
toward western hills
the last vestiges of light
sink as day draws down
our village churchyard
is resplendent in sunlight
this Monday morning
