a sole butterfly
lightly pirouettes around
the floral garden
the new year's pages
shall soon unfold for sighting
what will they tell us?
many dappled shadows
played on the forest's floor
as light winds did blow
on the footpath's grass
a pair of magpies forage
for delicious worms
slowly the fog creeps
in our township's sleeping streets
dense is its heavy shroud
blustering winds blow
with vigor across the plains
stirring dust plumes
her bloom smells e'er sweet
yet when she turns into fruit
there's a bitter taste
the sky this very day
did don a cape of dull grey
so drab the display

by morrow's morning
there'll be a brighter dawning
with sunlight spawning
flashes of lightning
are piercing through the window
like a neon sign
as intense sunlight
cut through the forest's canopy
it left dappled shade
truth's flood of bright light
shall expose evil forces
who are now at play
this morning the sun
glares with a dazzling stare
that blinds the viewer
a light mist tarried
o'er the verdant river flats
as first light did break
the Empire shall fall
as it said so on a wall
outside the townhall
a brilliant blue sky
presides o' er our region
in indigo rule
immense flames of fire
keep eating California's
forested landscape
carpets of green grass
lay across the countryside
lush in coverage
the neighbor's little pooch
just cocked his leg to ****
on the pub's back fence
bright shining lanterns
hang from wattle tree branches
along the Gap road
magenta billows
bedecked the morning skies
in a lipstick pink
morn's cold sheet of frost
shall cover our small township
in an icy freeze
as the clock of life
ticks away its years advance
unto a dotage
heavily laden clouds*
hang their brows over the town
*readying to unload
the pitter patter
of soothing rain drops will send
one off to slumber
o'er the black sea sky
a huge silvery moon sailed
throughout the long night
a gleeful trilling
emanated from the tree clumps
robins were singing
as the wind currents
are changing they indicate
a seasonal shift
the sky this very day
has a humdrum appearance
it's shaded in grey
as day progresses
the wind's tempo has grown more
by eve she'll blow well
a brilliant blue sky
gave cause for the birds to sing
in joyous chorus
a scowling wind blows
through the tall timber masts
their boughs left rankled
shadows now lengthen
as last streams of glinting light
ebb in the bushland
on the forest floor
dappled shadows frolicked
in a playful way
spring's seasonal hue
didst come in a primrose bloom
of vibrant pink blush
along the shoreline
the lovers slowly walked
on that moonlit night
with a ***** sear
the sun scorched the landscape
in fervent ardor
lulling soft droplets
fell upon the old tin roof
slumbering my eyes
on the forest floor
bark twigs and leaf matter lay
they'd soon be compost
afore the rains fell
river dwelling frogs croaked
in a profuse thrum
a rattling tremor
coursed beneath the landscape
quaking all above
spring's color palette
paints a resplendent canvas
of floral glories
a faint pencil line
marks dusk's far off horizon
in day's curtain close
volleys of thunder
rolled across the vast skies
resounding their blasts
in a few weeks time
the New England's hilly landscape
will wear fall robes
she arrives dressed
in effervescent color
she's spring's rainbow girl
the rains shall bestow
the gift of flourishing growth
upon the landscape
gelid wind blusters
drove a freezing current's trail
through the snow clad dales
her copper hued lips
implored him to kiss them
with exuberance
on higher regions
of the tablelands this very night
snow flurries will fall
bronze coloured leaves
hung from the oak tree's branches
as Greek medallions
