There was a man

He would wear
mask in the sun
He would raise
An umbrella
Above his head
In the rain

On his tomb
Was written

Humiliation is death
The mind,
The body.
The heart.
The lungs.

We all think,
We are immortal.
**** you were wrong.

Our hearts beat,
In constant flow.
Providing your body.
With oxygenated blood.

Fear thy fatal crash or wound.
For it will end your life,
Faster than you can blink.
There are
a billion stars
behind
my
eyes

I weep them

They are actually tears of joy.
Not relevant to present
Circumstances
Must be God!
Life, it seems a question
That’s answered only in death
A light that leaves your body
As you grasp for your last breath

What comes next
Nobody can know
You came like a dream
And now I’m alone

The tears that I bleed
Are hidden by lies
My love is spread thin
For those I would die

Her eyes gave me access
To see through her soul
Now I've gone blind
How could she let go

If death holds the answer
And love holds the key
Then somewhere beyond
She’s waiting for me

Over 20 years
I still can't let you go

You,
You think that you are alone
And you do not understand
Why i call you beautiful
But galaxies spin, contained
Behind your perfect hazel eyes
And if you could gaze into them
You would understand why
A simple touch,
Or a whisper from your lips
Can set my soul aflame
Because
You are so sad,
Yet so beautiful
And full of love and passion
That i cannot help but
Clasp your hands in mine
And kiss your lips like
I would give anything to take away
The dark you feel within you
Because when our bodies touch
Even my cells are replenished
Drinking in happiness and love
You're my impossible boy
Head up, stay strong, fake a smile, move on,
they always said,
No one will see a broken spirit.

They were wrong.

Your eyes saw past it all.

The way your eyes loved my soul
wasn't in vain or vanity.
They didn't see the complex masks
or the pounds of makeup --
Your eyes saw me in all my simplicity.
You dove into the darkness of my eyes
and found this small broken light --
some strange thing you called a *soul.

Your eyes loved that shattered light --
they held it with kind words and soothing embraces.

I felt like The Golden Girl turned inside out:
a face comprised of dullness and imperfection,
a soul of great beauty and grace.
With words, smiles, and touch,
you convinced me to stay in my skin,
but for once in my insipid life,
my soul felt alive and bright.
No longer would I battle the darkness,
no longer would I be afraid of the monsters inside.
Your eyes struck the match that ignited my soul again.
Any tips? I appreciate your feedback.
