A L Davies Mar 2011
woke up a little headachey bhikku
on a thin mat, covered
with small white wool blanket
like a slip of frost.
woken by coffee, a rip (3) & a sinus pill
before rainily walking to
a belly-filling breakfast,
with the names of spadina st. shops
flying by in silent verse.

Today—just today—inasmuch as
my whimsical desire is concerned,
accepting gifts and souvenirs such as:
maple leaves, breath of moose (I've learned

it's kind of good for being Canada-sick),
honey crullers or, for that matter,
a double-double. You've got to have a lick
of ice cream at... oh, I don't remember,

I forgot the name, just know that Bloor
is gracefully crossed there by Spadina;
and don't misjudge me as a boor,
but promptly ship it all to China.

Make sure to toss on top of that
iridescent vapor from Niagara;
it's not like I feel sad or mad,
but things will definitely shine gladder.

Breath of moose can go in balloons,
and vapor too can be encapsulated;
and after many Chinese moons
my birthday will get canadated.

Why do I cry?
Why are my tears running down from my eyes like waterfall?
Why do you leave me here in the cold?
Why do season changes?
So that we can have all of them
The different seasons gives different opportunities for all the people
Why do you live me to die and freeze to death in the street?
When I walked with you on a Tuesday afternoon on
Spadina Ave.
I stop and I took a look in the sky
The sky looked like sea waves on one side
