There was a motion on the floor for the nomination of a proxy to be my epigone.  I feared I didn't have enough votes to challenge so I filibustered.
You are my
Ensorcelled Elysium,
You are my
Eden Dream.

You cascade
Upon my Dreamscape,
Enshrine my slumber in
A flowered gale of aromatic petals
That envelop me, beckon me
To herald the rebirth
Of Days of Yore.

You vein
The Glistening Glade of Memories
With your
Brooks of Aqueous Emerald.

Tis' the
Phantasmagoric Plane
Where still
My wayworn spirit wanders, wearily
In search of the magic
To enfetter
The Hands of Fate
(For they conspire against us).

Swifter than your descent
Into my soul
(Five seconds still and flat)
By
The nexus of your affections,
You evanesced
Like vapor,
Yet
I shall not concede to
The Malevolent Matriarch of Destiny.

For you
O, Breath of Life,
Forsook me not
So I sublime all stains
Tarnishing my flesh
By cries to The Ethereal.

At midday
Awaiting the Twilight
I long for
The birth of The Womb of Aether’s
Progeny,
Starlit winds.

I muse
Swimmingly in Seas of Reminiscence,
Banished from that Blackened Bastion
Of Shadowed Heavens,
For when darkness shrouds
My dreams can be seen
Draping the skies.

I then fathom,
You must not be far off,
Wishing,
Hoping,
Believing
That perhaps
You too
Wonder upon stars
Longing to find that one
That entwines us anew.

You shall alight,
Upon me once more
As
August Sun’s Nimbus
(If only for a moment)
Is thwarted
By
Ebony Miasma
That drenches Cimmerian skies.

In search
Of Ardor’s Light abiding in
The Sylvan Shrine of Your Numinous Eyes
I plead that
The Crag oppress
The Coals of Tribulation,
Until my anguish is
A Diamond Heart.

The pilgrimage
I must bear,
Must be traveled by
The Adamantine alone.

Where have you gone,
Tree of Life?
Why have you withered,
Yggdrasil?

Do I possess
The Eradia of Souls,
By which you shall
Effloresce?

I would halt the cogs of time,
Relinquish my liberty,
To slumber for eternity
In crystal stasis
By your side.

Even in that crystalline quietude,
I would be eminent,
I would be exalted,
I would be ennobled,
In the knowingness that
Your
Stalwart Heart
Radiates
Just beside me.

I exhale Empyrean Winds
When rapt in reverie,
Yearning to be
Captive to your devotion,
Yours alone.

The Bliss of Your Most Holy Kiss
Would signet me
With the
Bounty of Your Name
Burnishing the skin
On my lips.

Though ephemeral,
Your presence divined,
Your presence
Was my anointing.

To be solaced
By the astral resonance emitted
By your touch
Sent the
Pulse of Nirvana
Surging, rippling,
Like a kaleidoscope tide,
Down my spine

You are
The Waters of Vitality
That floweth from
The Creeks of Eden,

You have been
Poured upon my palate
From the
Goblet of Redemption
That I may drinketh
Of
Supernal immortality.

When once again we meet,
Perhaps the tears you summoned
From my spirit
By your
Stirring caress
Shall have absolved me
Of the pangs
In loving a man
(And man alone).

Perhaps then,
The sentiments
I pine to profess,
Will resound.

A melody
Sung in legato,
A  mellifluous melisma,
Flawlessly delineated
And
Intonation in deiform
Or perhaps,
Flowering fioritura
Lacing airwaves,
By the Empress Coloratura.

Perhaps then, piety
Betwixt you and I,
Will waft the air
And I might then,
Permit my quaking body
To succumb to
You alone.

Until that morn,
I shall be vigilant,
Counting the Dawns,
Counting the Twilights,
Until
I can gaze
Into your forested eyes
If even for but a moment.

For even but a moment
Spent with you,
Will bleed a nostalgia
Across my mind's sky,
Painting clouds crimson with passion,
And
That I shall revere,
And
That shall last
And last
And,
Last… And
Last.

O, it will last,
To Elysian Infinity.

            I am a vestige,
But I shall live once more,
                  In the light of memories
                       That blossom, are perennial,
And imbibe the dazed glory of the past
                       Until the past is vanquished
By a future that is fragrant
             With the mist of romance
          And eclipses the simulacrum,
A fictitious sun of the infernal masquerade,
The antithesis of the truest holy,
Then, rapture of life shall mystify no longer,
For the Numen of Truth,
Shall cleanse creation without a drop of façade,
His Providence shall emancipate the hollow,
The Death of Dreams shall writhe
               In everlasting abeyance,
                 Absolving our wayward spirits,
                  The Winds of Change,
                  The Scourge of Pain,
               And
          The Loveless Wraiths
        That haunted our husks
      Shall be transcended for aeons,
And tribulation made distant, made nebulous
As the Genesis of Time and Space itself
For we embark on an exodus,
     Beseeching salvation to redeem us
        When the Requiem of Iniquity
           Is triumphed by everlasting cadence.

Be Valiant,
                 Be Sapient,
                             Be Love
                                       And
                                          By this
                                                You shall conquer the world
                                                           ∞
Hello my fellow comrades! This piece was originally written as a means of catharsis. I wanted to express the romantic sentiments begotten by an individual who deliquesced from my world as swiftly as they arrived. I hope you guys can glean virtues of humanity, poignancy, candor, and (an organic) transparency in this piece. I want to impress the density of reverence pulsing in my heart for the person who enraptured me by the thew of their tenderness and kindred spirit.

Hopefully the massive length of this piece does not deter from reading its contents. Holistically speaking, the volume of content in this piece is the metaphorical incarnation of the Ocean of Affection that ebbs and flows within my soul (for this individual). I would love to improve, so if you have any constructive feedback you'd like to convey I would be most grateful. Anyhow, I hope that on some level you can connect with the overtones of undying piety in love that deluge this piece. Thank you all for reading and God bless!

Golden shawls envelope
flushing, blending fabrics
which billow
under the waxen blackbird's
silky braided feathers.
Heaven's vault, a celestial sphere of blue yonder,
a swirling palette of oils
suffusing and dancing,
wrapping their ringlets
into one thousand spirals
which signet shadows onto the
slender impressions in the sog.
Illuminous, voluminous salmon
bleaches blushing black tissue
to pale primrose promising the cobalt then marrying to aquamarine.
Stained glass fingers barely protruding from aurelian pews.
I

The cloud my bed is tinged with blood and foam.
The vault yet blazes with the sun
Writhing above the West, brave hippodrome
Whose gladiators shock and shun
As the blue night devours them, crested comb
Of sleep's dead sea
That eats the shores of life, rings round eternity!

II

So, he is gone whose giant sword shed flame
Into my bowels; my blood's bewitched;
My brain's afloat with ecstasy of shame.
That tearing pain is gone, enriched
By his life-spasm; but he being gone, the same
Myself is gone
****** by the dragon down below death's horizon.

III
I woke from this. I lay upon the lawn;
They had thrown roses on the moss
With all their thorns; we came there at the dawn,
My lord and I; God sailed across
The sky in's galleon of amber, drawn
By singing winds
While we wove garlands of the flowers of our minds.

IV

All day my lover deigned to ****** me,
Linking his kisses in a chain
About my neck; demon-embroidery!
Bruises like far-ff mountains stain
The valley of my body of ivory!
Then last came sleep.
I wake, and he is gone; what should I do but weep?

V

Nay, for I wept enough --- more sacred tears! ---
When first he pinned me, gripped
My flesh, and as a stallion that rears,
Sprang, hero-thewed and satyr-lipped;
Crushed, as a grape between his teeth, my fears;
****** out my life
And stamped me with the shame, the monstrous word of
wife.

VI

I will not weep; nay, I will follow him
Perchance he is not far,
Bathing his limbs in some delicious dim
Depth, where the evening star
May kiss his mouth, or by the black sky's rim
He makes his prayer
To the great serpent that is coiled in rapture there.

VII

I rose to seek him. First my footsteps faint
Pressed the starred moss; but soon
I wandered, like some sweet sequestered saint,
Into the wood, my mind. The moon
Was staggered by the trees; with fierce constraint
Hardly one ray
Pierced to the ragged earth about their roots that lay.

VIII

I wandered, crying on my Lord. I wandered
Eagerly seeking everywhere.
The stories of life that on my lips he squandered
Grew into shrill cries of despair,
Until the dryads frightened and dumfoundered
Fled into space ---
Like to a demon-king's was grown my maiden face!

XI

At last I came unto the well, my soul
In that still glass, I saw no sign
Of him, and yet --- what visions there uproll
To cloud that mirror-soul of mine?
Above my head there screams a flying scroll
Whose word burnt through
My being as when stars drop in black disastrous dew.

X

For in that scroll was written how the globe
Of space became; of how the light
Broke in that space and wrapped it in a robe
Of glory; of how One most white
Withdrew that Whole, and hid it in the lobe
Of his right Ear,
So that the Universe one dewdrop did appear.

IX

Yea! and the end revealed a word, a spell,
An incantation, a device
Whereby the Eye of the Most Terrible
Wakes from its wilderness of ice
To flame, whereby the very core of hell
Bursts from its rind,
Sweeping the world away into the blank of mind.

XII

So then I saw my fault; I plunged within
The well, and brake the images
That I had made, as I must make - Men spin
The webs that snare them - while the knee
Bend to the tyrant God - or unto Sin
The lecher sunder!
Ah! came that undulant light from over or from under?

XIII

It matters not. Come, change! come, Woe! Come, mask!
Drive Light, Life, Love into the deep!
In vain we labour at the loathsome task
Not knowing if we wake or sleep;
But in the end we lift the plumed casque
Of the dead warrior;
Find no chaste corpse therein, but a soft-smiling *****.

XIV

Then I returned into myself, and took
All in my arms, God's universe:
Crushed its black juice out, while His anger shook
His dumbness pregnant with a curse.
I made me ink, and in a little book
I wrote one word
That God himself, the adder of Thought, had never heard.

XV

It detonated. Nature, God, mankind
Like sulphur, nitre, charcoal, once
Blended, in one annihilation blind
Were rent into a myriad of suns.
Yea! all the mighty fabric of a Mind
Stood in the abyss,
Belching a Law for "That" more awful than for "This."

XVI

Vain was the toil. So then I left the wood
And came unto the still black sea,
That oily monster of beatitude!
('Hath "Thee" for "Me," and "Me" for "Thee!")
There as I stood, a mask of solitude
Hiding a face
Wried as a satyr's, rolled that ocean into space.

XVII

Then did I build an altar on the shore
Of oyster-shells, and ringed it round
With star-fish. Thither a green flame I bore
Of phosphor foam, and strewed the ground
With dew-drops, children of my wand, whose core
Was trembling steel
Electric that made spin the universal Wheel.

XVIII

With that a goat came running from the cave
That lurked below the tall white cliff.
Thy name! cried I. The answer that gave
Was but one tempest-whisper - "If!"
Ah, then! his tongue to his black palate clave;
For on soul's curtain
Is written this one certainty that naught is certain!

XIX

So then I caught that goat up in a kiss.
And cried Io Pan! Io Pan! Io Pan!
Then all this body's wealth of ambergris,
(Narcissus-scented flesh of man!)
I burnt before him in the sacrifice;
For he was sure -
Being the Doubt of Things, the one thing to endure!

**

Wherefore, when madness took him at the end,
He, doubt-goat, slew the goat of doubt;
And that which inward did for ever tend
Came at the last to have come out;
And I who had the World and God to friend
Found all three foes!
Drowned in that sea of changes, vacancies, and woes!

XXI

Yet all that Sea was swallowed up therein;
So they were not, and it was not.
As who should sweat his soul out through the skin
And find (sad fool!) he had begot
All that without him that he had left in,
And in himself
All he had taken out thereof, a mocking elf!

XXII

But now that all was gone, great Pan appeared.
Him then I strove to woo, to win,
Kissing his curled lips, playing with his beard,
Setting his brain a-shake, a-spin,
By that strong wand, and muttering of the weird
That only I
Knew of all souls alive or dead beneath the sky.

XXIII

So still I conquered, and the vision passed.
Yet still was beaten, for I knew
Myself was He, Himself, the first and last;
And as an unicorn drinks dew
From under oak-leaves, so my strength was cast
Into the mire;
For all I did was dream, and all I dreamt desire.

XXIV

More; in this journey I had clean forgotten
The quest, my lover. But the tomb
Of all these thoughts, the rancid and the rotten,
Proved in the end to be my womb
Wherein my Lord and lover had begotten
A little child
To drive me, laughing lion, into the wanton wild!

XXV

This child hath not one hair upon his head,
But he hath wings instead of ears.
No eyes hath he, but all his light is shed
Within him on the ordered sphere
Of nature that he hideth; and in stead
Of mouth he hath
One minute point of jet; silence, the lightning path!

XXVI

Also his nostrils are shut up; for he
Hath not the need of any breath;
Nor can the curtain of eternity
Cover that head with life or death.
So all his body, a slim almond-tree,
Knoweth no bough
Nor branch nor twig nor bud, from never until now.

XXVII

This thought I bred within my bowels, I am.
I am in him, as he in me;
And like a satyr ravishing a lamb
So either seems, or as the sea
Swallows the whale that swallows it, the ram
Beats its own head
Upon the city walls, that fall as it falls dead.

XXVIII

Come, let me back unto the lilied lawn!
Pile me the roses and the thorns,
Upon this bed from which he hath withdrawn!
He may return. A million morns
May follow that first dire daemonic dawn
When he did split
My spirit with his lightnings and enveloped it!

XXIX

So I am stretched out naked to the knife,
My whole soul twitching with the stress
Of the expected yet surprising strife,
A martyrdom of blessedness.
Though Death came, I could kiss him into life;
Though Life came, I
Could kiss him into death, and yet nor live nor die!

***

Yet I that am the babe, the sire, the dam,
Am also none of these at all;
For now that cosmic chaos of I AM
Bursts like a bubble. Mystical
The night comes down, a soaring wedge of flame
Woven therein
To be a sign to them who yet have never been.

XXXI

The universe I measured with my rod.
The blacks were balanced with the whites;
Satan dropped down even as up soared God;
****** prayed and danced with anchorites.
So in my book the even matched the odd:
No word I wrote
Therein, but sealed it with the signet of the goat.

XXXII

This also I seal up. Read thou herein
Whose eyes are blind! Thou may'st behold
Within the wheel (that always seems to spin
All ways) a point of static gold.
Then may'st thou out therewith, and fit it in
That extreme sphere
Whose boundless farness makes it infinitely near.
ANCIEN REGIME

I

Now that I, tying thy glass mask tightly,
May gaze through these faint smokes curling whitely,
As thou pliest thy trade in this devil’s-smithy—
Which is the poison to poison her, prithee?

II

He is with her; and they know that I know
Where they are, what they do: they believe my tears flow
While they laugh, laugh at me, at me fled to the drear
Empty church, to pray God in, for them!—I am here.

III

Grind away, moisten and mash up thy paste,
Pound at thy powder,—I am not in haste!
Better sit thus, and observe thy strange things,
Than go where men wait me and dance at the King’s.

IV

That in the mortar—you call it a gum?
Ah, the brave tree whence such gold oozings come!
And yonder soft phial, the exquisite blue,
Sure to taste sweetly,—is that poison too?

V

Had I but all of them, thee and thy treasures,
What a wild crowd of invisible pleasures!
To carry pure death in an earring, a casket,
A signet, a fan-mount, a filigree-basket!

VI

Soon, at the King’s, a mere lozenge to give,
And Pauline should have just thirty minutes to live!
But to light a pastille, and Elise, with her head,
And her breast, and her arms, and her hands, should drop dead!

VII

Quick—is it finished? The colour’s too grim!
Why not soft like the phial’s, enticing and dim?
Let it brighten her drink, let her turn it and stir,
And try it and taste, ere she fix and prefer!

VIII

What a drop! She’s not little, no minion like me—
That’s why she ensnared him: this never will free
The soul from those strong, great eyes,—say, “No!”
To that pulse’s magnificent come-and-go.

IX

For only last night, as they whispered, I brought
My own eyes to bear on her so, that I thought
Could I keep them one-half minute fixed, she would fall,
Shrivelled; she fell not; yet this does it all!

X

Not that I bid you spare her the pain!
Let death be felt and the proof remain;
Brand, burn up, bite into its grace—
He is sure to remember her dying face!

XI

Is it done? Take my mask off! Nay, be not morose,
It kills her, and this prevents seeing it close:
The delicate droplet, my whole fortune’s fee—
If it hurts her, beside, can it ever hurt me?

XII

Now, take all my jewels, gorge gold to your fill,
You may kiss me, old man, on my mouth if you will!
But brush this dust off me, lest horror it brings
Ere I know it—next moment I dance at the King’s!
I moved out of my real self
so many years ago
now a tiny ghost am I
floating to and fro.
Among the suits of armour
and thickly painted oils
of the family portraits
and other, plundered spoils.

My father was a noble thief
with a good eye for the gems
my mother wore the finest clothes
diamonds sewn into the hems.
Hidden in dad's shiny boots
a hundred signet rings
each one bore a mark that told
they'd once belonged to kings.

To bolts of silk he took a fancy
way out on the waves
his galleon went rainbow hued
wind billowing the sails.
He showed the King and Queen of France
around in London Town
and liberated them of furs
three horses and a crown.

He stuffed his urns and ginger jars
with gold and silver coins
and from a love illicit
I sprang from his *****.
Mother had to keep me secret
the shame dad couldn't bear
I was, half-bred, of purple blood
with a name I could not wear.

A brace of dark-eyed gypsies
my dear mama and I
although she was the greatest beauty
which was how she caught dad's eye.
The Sisters of Good Grace
entrusted her unto his wardship
and soon, without their guidance
she forgot the taste of hardship.

With fluttering, coquettish looks
not a thought for dad’s pale wife
my mother guaranteed her place
in a wealthy, well-kept life.
She was a great distraction
in the game of ******-and-grab
the mark would set his eyes on her
dad would steal all that he had.

So we lived a grand old life
in our secret gilded cage
until all dad's enemies
got together in their rage.
The princes, kings and dukes
all the rich men he'd robbed blind
decided it was payback time
with a warrant duly signed.

My father's noble head
was ordered on a platter
his life of joyful thievery
they were about to shatter.
He boarded up the castle
and vowed to make a stand
he sent away the workers
and laid waste unto his land.

‘They will not take me lightly’
he promised me that day
‘but, my love, go with your mother
for here you cannot stay’.
‘I've done a deal of safety
with the priest at Chateu Neuf’
I didn't like and didn't trust
this man of foul and ample girth.

If God was in his substance
he was well and truly hidden
but mama knew she had no choice
and did as she was bidden.
Father John was at the chateau
when we arrived, quite late
like a raven in his black robes
on the ramparts, stood in wait.

‘Well, my dear,’ he said to mama
standing far too close
‘I believe your erstwhile lover
is about to get a dose
of right and proper retribution
for every sorry deed
but the wronged ones are all men of God
and came to me for what they need’.

‘Forgiveness for their vengeance
and that is mine to give
a holy waiver for his blood
on the promise you shall live.
Now you and your ******* child
are under lock and key
and I'm a man of varied pleasures
and will do just as I please’.

‘Never’! screamed my mother
she was quick and swift and strong
gathered me into her arms
and in a flash was gone.
But escape was barred at every turn
by doors locked fast and tight
and we could hear the guards behind
so to the roof we took our flight.

And, when Father John caught up
we were backed against the wall
mama hitched her skirts up high
and prepared to take our fall.
‘I'll not be a prisoner
never shackled, no, not I
left on earth without my love
I would rather die’.

‘My child will not be left behind
the other half that makes my heart’
then she stepped out into air
toes pointed like a dart.
And Father John, he bellowed
as a beast stuck in the side
‘Without my prize, now I must have
a thief's fresh and ****** hide’.

We fell down through the ages
a pair of rolling doves
and hitting ground was painless
the rocks our pillow, red as love.
Then came a waking moment
we trod a path of light
fear nor pain considered
mama saw us through the night.

And so by dawn we came upon
the place had been our home
all destroyed, razed to the ground
smoke rose, as white as bone.
Through the mist we saw him striding
just as tall and bold
we three stood, reunited
our story all but told.

We had passed into a realm
that we can never leave
some say they've seen us here and there
though very few believe.
Now among the ancient trees I run
and dance from hall to hall
locked in my forever land
because I took The Fall.

With tender praying hands
With gorgeous smiling bands
Chanting in lullaby
Praise isho messiah
(Praise be to Jesus!)

The children greet the guest!
Trying his level best
Straining a little crouch
Stooping down to warm touch

The angel stars jostle
Putting him in puzzle
He sits down any ways
Ambushed by joyful eyes

Bevy of Angels say
My name is Ketriel
And my name is Evlin
And my name is Jeevan

Mia, Anna, Ephrem
Maria, Joel, Dan
in a  heavenly frame
Confusing this poor man

They began to perform
Story telling and rhymes
Action songs and prayers
To make him feel at home

One even comes and says
"I'll go to Bethlehem"
whispering  in his ears
"If I get A+ this time"

"Good gracious is it true?"
"Yes. I'll to Bethlehem"
Asserts the little Deo
"Then pray for me too."

With folded hands he says
"Pray for me to Jesus"
"Pray for me to Jesus"
"Pray for me to Jesus"

To all the kids he met
Sure they bear Lords signet
The Spiritual magnet
The Holy coronet

Blessed are they who keep them
Blessed are those who teach them
Who impart the wisdom
Until 'Thy Kingdom come'!
Whatever I have said or sung,
Some bitter notes my harp would give,
Yea, tho' there often seem'd to live
A contradiction on the tongue,

Yet Hope had never lost her youth;
  She did but look through dimmer eyes;
Or Love but play'd with gracious lies,
Because he felt so fix'd in truth:

And if the song were full of care,
  He breathed the spirit of the song;
And if the words were sweet and strong
He set his royal signet there;

Abiding with me till I sail
To seek thee on the mystic deeps,
And this electric force, that keeps
A thousand pulses dancing, fail.

5 am in mid July
and the sun is raising
golden trails in sky
and in the pools, following the
golden signet's flaming
vapour trails which, in polka-
dotted summer spawn, calm
the water's satin, rippled peaks.
Subsiding and gliding
into the stillness of emerald pond.
The signets move to the glistening
side of the river bank,
shafts of light catching
the lens forging ghostly
golden sickles
which lengthen
amongst the dust hovering
aglow above silver cove
and English lagoon.
Some three, or five, or seven, and thirty years;
A Roman nose; a dimpling double-chin;
Dark eyes and shy that, ignorant of sin,
Are yet acquainted, it would seem, with tears;
A comely shape; a slim, high-coloured hand,
Graced, rather oddly, with a signet ring;
A bashful air, becoming everything;
A well-bred silence always at command.
Her plain print gown, prim cap, and bright steel chain
Look out of place on her, and I remain
Absorbed in her, as in a pleasant mystery.
Quick, skilful, quiet, soft in speech and touch . . .
'Do you like nursing?'  'Yes, Sir, very much.'
Somehow, I rather think she has a history.
I cannot forget with what fervid devotion
I worshipped the vision of verse and of fame.
Each gaze at the glories of earth, sky, and ocean,
To my kindled emotions, was wind over flame.

And deep were my musings in life's early blossom,
  Mid the twilight of mountain groves wandering long;
How thrilled my young veins, and how throbbed my full *****,
When o'er me descended the spirit of song.

'**** the deep-cloven fells that for ages had listened
To the rush of the pebble-paved river between,
Where the kingfisher screamed and gray precipice glistened,
  All breathless with awe have I gazed on the scene;

Till I felt the dark power o'er my reveries stealing,
From his throne in the depth of that stern solitude,
And he breathed through my lips, in that tempest of feeling,
Strains lofty or tender, though artless and rude.

Bright visions! I mixed with the world, and ye faded;
  No longer your pure rural worshipper now;
In the haunts your continual presence pervaded,
Ye shrink from the signet of care on my brow.

In the old mossy groves on the breast of the mountain,
In deep lonely glens where the waters complain,
By the shade of the rock, by the gush of the fountain,
I seek your loved footsteps, but seek them in vain.

Oh, leave not, forlorn and for ever forsaken,
Your pupil and victim to life and its tears!
But sometimes return, and in mercy awaken
The glories ye showed to his earlier years.
here we spin the synchronic dance of the fluids
that dribble down in aesthetic perfection;
free-flowing from the gullet of creation
into the palms of the frenzied flock.
the grim etchings left by her in the signet
reflect the proper terms for glossolalia,
but the honeyed tones are lost to primitive organs
and a piteous gurgle is all that emerges.

here we were, eaters of shale, chewers of dirt,
warmed beneath the blanket of her shadow,
paled by the protection of her casting murk
that hid us from the vile stars.

pollen, pollen, pollen, pollen,
showering, soaking, deep down in the gut.
Bezoar of my bezoar, heart within my sleeve,
I am waiting for my emotions to return to me.

I tiptoe hence from
crack to crack in the
asphalt of our parking lot
trying not to hit the yardlines like
we did in marching band
practice, carefully, steadily
with six steps to a stripe
six-to-five six-to-five
left right left

and I'm trying not to notice
that the trees, their leaves are
turning now to the colors of
the hairs upon my head

copper
and ash
blonde brownish
honey
and the sweetest of
auburn
on my left
right left

and I'm not doing a very good job
of not noticing these things
like how I pretend not to notice how
you smile when I'm not looking but
you are, you're smiling, you're
looking at me and perhaps catching
glimpse of the rainbow of follicles
emerging from my scalp

which is great and all, but still it
makes me nervous makes me jittery
pocketwatch in my ribcage
tickticktick

I scuff my foot across the yellow
paint of parking spaces and joke that
we would have pretty children
because that's always been a topic
that's one of those half-joking, half-not
topics that all
boy and girl friends have even if
they aren't boyfriends or girlfriends they're
just friends, it's still a tender subject
and today I'm feeling
brave except for when I
trip over a word and widen my
eyeballs in embarrassment
until they can see the very
tips of my eyelashes and I
feel very odd indeed
because I realize no one thinks of that
except of course for
six-to-five six-to-five

and I've mapped out my life in bottle caps
and those pepperminty things you
can only find at wedding receptions

and I ****** them in a jar until I stir
them into prophecy and they tell me
if you were another boy if you had a signet
for a seal and possibly a stallion or at
very least a cloak
or a practicality for inventions more useful
than those of divinities
but you aren't no you aren't

and in another life were you a
nine-to-five nine-to-five
and in another time you could've passed
and we could laugh our days away by
the fires and read Whitman to our
Siamese and drape ourselves with kaleidoscope
quilts in lavish armchairs and just
breathed

honey, honey for your toast

breathe, don't cry
crying is for
the weak

and in another life I could've smiled
without abandon I could've
let your fingers brush my jawline let
you read over my shoulder and occasionally
turn the pages for me and I
could've seen our future and let you tell
me I was beautiful and possibly loved you
...but I can't love you.
This is not another life.
this is mine I tiptoe fragilely
from crack to crack and breath to
breath to keep myself from falling off
the edge and so I murmur quietly in my brain

ash blonde brown auburn burgundy and
six-to-five
yes, six-to-five
and let me close my eyes to blink

you tell me
you're not foolish enough to tell me
what you really think
and you laugh and I tell you I'm stopping this
train
of thought before it derails itself and causes those
catastrophes where thousands die
of head-on collisions and
butterfly feelings
and stricken-through unfinished

like I'm in a game of hide
and seek but you're pretending
not to know where I am hiding
so I can be the last one
left
right left

so I halt myself at six-to-five
and let you kiss me anyway

you don't know that in those
few choice words
you've given myself away
Me! I! Myself! Mine!

I shout these words in militant exertion,
Demanding people to stop,
Commanding them to hear,
Ordering their full, undivided, worshipful attention.

"Am I not the centre of the universe!? Listen to ME!" I scream,
And sulk like an angry child as the world continues on,
Unperturbed, unaltered, un-adoring,
Without even noticing my voice.

If no one else will pay me heed,
Then I, at least, must do so.
So I worship my own image,
And prostrate myself before the alter of my self conceit.
I sing my own praises to my own ear,
And ******* myself to myself
in a vain attempt to satisfy my undying vanity.

Oh, you vainglorious *******!
Made illegitimate by the illegitimacy of your false worship
And the hypocrisy of your heart.
Do you not know, you were made to kneel? Fashioned to bow,
Not to your own image, but before the visage if Him Who made you in His own likeness
That you might bear within yourself the most sacred cartouche,
The most precious signet,
The most holy seal.

For you have been called to higher things than this broken clay vessel you defile with your adulterous worship.
Oh, you conceited fool!
Puffed up in your own pride,
Unaware of how utterly worthless you have made yourself.

And yet your Maker still stoops from Heaven
To hear your piteous moans,
And His heart weeps to see your self-inflicted wounds.

Thus He reaches down
And whispers His deepest Love to you
While you are yet gleefully drowning in your sin.

So unaware are you of anything but fleshly gratification.
But He touches you,
When you least expect it.
Like pearls discovered in a dung heap,
He surprises you with the Treasure of His Grace.
And with the tenderness of His Loving touch,
Lifts you from your mire and whispers in your ear:

"Oh, my Little Worm, I am your Redeemer."
The primary concept behind this poem comes from the Bible in the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 41, verse 14. In this chapter, God is speaking to the wayward, sinful people of Israel. In verse fourteen, He says " 'Fear not, you worm, Jacob, you men of Israel! I am the One who helps you,' declares the Lord; 'Your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel."

The way that God calls His people a "worm" struck me. Because it's not used as an insult, or said in disappointment. But rather it is spoken as though this little worm, most worthless of all the creatures, was especially dear to Him. He loves us despite our lowly, worthless state. And He whispers this promise over His Beloved worm: "Do not be afraid. For I am your Redeemer."

Oh, how beautiful is that!
A model-

Smoking his cigarette, a gold signet ring upon his finger
a complete antithesis to the other dead-ringers,
lips pursed, sipping at his golden liquor
in his eyes dancing excitement does flicker

diagnosed with cancer, he's re-living every dream in his head
for on the eighth day of this month he will be dead -
out and about, picking up ladies at the age of forty
days from kicking the bucket yet his libido still naughty

waking up on the sixth day with the first hangover in 10 years
the bloated pain distracting him from his fears -

no kids, divorced, a total loser
living the life of a player and a scheming user

alas, he'll never feel the wind upon his face
never again have the chance to experience love, hatred, anger or even disgrace
never see the kids he didn't have
never again able to make a decision - be it good or bad

and now sitting alone in his apartment as the eighth day looms
he burns the money in his wallet, exhales their fumes

"I'm... so sorry..."

his signet ring stained, still uncannily gold

attached to a finger now lifeless, stiff, cold.

When an heart inflated by true love gets deflated by denials
When opportunities seem absent for dreams
And nursed love finds no bed to root down
Failure inscribes its signet on wandering hopes
Highflying balloons of love brought low by a puncture of "no"
It scares the mind and drills scars in the heart.
But new hopes keeps you going

Some nos are better than yes after all

Love’s call love’s aweThis child this woman this Queen
To speak of her you must go to the inner depths of the soul this hallowed sacred place all is ablaze with
The unalterable knowledge that things here have no secrets or malice it is a fortification and out shines
The days of royal courts and knight hood where else can or should you take a life and turn it to all sides
To reveal its riches its extraordinary complexity the divine verve laid on top of human energy that is a
Golden gate that turns on hinges that sing and the song tells all about her nature the mist on a rustic
Country path she soothes with a smoothness like the cooing of a dove it displaces everything and then
You hear it alone in the silence this modulation this wonder is speaking from human lips it slips on to the
Air and begins streaming into your ears your heart your soul it divides into tiny spellbinding wisps like
the Breeze in the orient mysterious telling a freshness it holds court you are its willing subject you never
tire Your heart only desires more is there any who can or would deny loveliness it is lilt in magic add
with the Eyes that play and show thoughts being developed there is no armor than can defeat the
softest power Over flowing you it gains strength as your wanes inward crashing outwardly it not heard

coming from One who is so still the liquid volute with this signet her nature begins to pour forth the
appeal of silence Gentle richness starts to effect you senses is free moving thoughts that disarm your
Own concerns you’re swept into a dream like state of mind it pushes at the far edges caries away
Misbegotten debris and Returns with a flow of bliss dark substantive a holding power locks you into her
Concisenesses what a place you find yourself in you quickly conclude you have no desire to be anywhere else
In shadow and light you drift without destinations this is the thrill ride she gives when she really gets
Started and begins to ramp It up playful delightful magical no pretense why would she ever go there I
Could write so much more but just imagine you met an angel and of all things she took interest in you
And she started to give herself to you how do you imagine you would feel well that’s how I felt these
Words were written as her Husband Tom told them to me I hope you get the meaning and truth a

Hosannah (Mombo from Missoura)

Hosannah (Hebrew): an exclamation of joy, adoration

who says Hosannah anymore, I think, recalling
a question reversed,^ one, long ago, that she sent to me,
the answer comes, a puddle splashing grandmother,
Mombo from Missoura

a what?

doesn’t matter

Periodic perusals of the small fine poems here, jewels lost in the kerfuffle,
At once, a signet ringing word jumps into my historical consciousness,
That little place, where the childhood was puzzled, but purified, remembering
That little boy, in synagogue, lost amid a congregation chanting
             Hosannah! to
Yahweh, ghost god, user of intermediaries-whisperers,

Mombo from Missoura (today’s guest voice)

selected by greater forces to make him recall the unity of many voices

his squeaking tone, found among that pure noise
that went to god’s heart direct

exclaiming in joy, adoration of
a majesty unfound on Earth,
sealed with a Selah,
crowned with Hallelujah

that god who never, incapable of forgetting,
still chats with him, that boy, now a boy~poppy,
from time to time,
recalling when together,
they too, puddle jumped,
looking for oil drop rainbow spots
so they could unison shout out loud

a love letter in the sand

she implores me at my weakest,
early morn, when sleep and sorrow
yet linger on my eyelids and dreamt stories
still have not been replaced by the careworn,
life’s erasures that ***** sparks of creativity

write me a love letter, a forever composition,
resistant to aging, time and weathering, a poetics
stamped with a maker’s mark, a signet, a hallmark
to our love that will be read unceasingly, a party to eternal
preserve our sharing, under glass, in paint, in this ink,
in this atmosphere

deny not my request, for it is holy tinged, reddish singed,
the best of us to become immortalized,
for all other lovers to follow, in garden planted,
a peony’s blooming upon request, whenever needed,
be ready seeded, to salve and save, to be given and gotten,
in a single act jointed

no matter if our names brown edge to faded,
our love revived when it is voiced, witnessed, taken,
our love refreshed upon renewal by others eyes, lips, sensations,
make it an oath, a promising, combining our combination,
bless it for everyone, to be a blessing, a dressing of loving

poet rose from prone, our templar bed, bathed his face,
bid his woman, follow, her bidding to be won, for this now
is the moment precise that such a need be immediacy met,
a task such, cannot be denied, temporized, delayed by delicacy,
a challenge so eloquently stated, must be instantly sated

to the sandy beach I took her, for she would be the first witness
to her creation, her inspirational must become perpetual,
with forefinger in the sand drew the words she had chosen,
for in every respect, he gave grandeur, preservation worthy, now encapsulated as “I will be yours forevermore”

“how can this be eternal, in minutes, the tides arrival,
it’s erasure a certainty” she laments...

not true, I soothed, the tide will take each grain of our anthem,
with our bodies ash, to every seventh corner, where lovers gather,
to be rewritten, melded together, soft spoken unison,
spreading our tale, forevermore...

it will take 100 years for a single grain to cross the ocean,
and then, when all are as one, as we begun, this day,
our love letter in the sand perpetual

This sleep has sunk to catacombs
Where dreams are dreaming of themselves,
And where they slump to deeper shelves
A dim and voiceless banshee roams.
Interlopers jostle memory,
And pressing on his signet ring,
Take on the seal of realer things.
Truth’s rejected for hyperbole.
Delusions stack in strata, drowned,
Lives never lived, in parallel,
That puzzle sleepers who can’t tell
Where waking lies, so lies confound.

A fairytale ending
Of only people we love
And God up above
Nodding in approval
Of the other's removal
So the problem's renewal

Where we're so dead
We can't use our own head
So we make our own bed
And we make it with dread

I.
On that divine-like hands and laps of thine, my grandmother,
Each moment I embraced a new learning.

On that tranquil Spring night, when the wave of stars washed over my eyes,
I cried—wishing to hold them
In my tiny hands. Since then, I learnt to cry.

To soothe my longing tears, thou didst sing a rhyming lullaby,
And spread a formless smile upon my face. Since then, I learnt to smile.

At the cooing rhythm of thy song,
Thou didst swing me—high and low,
In the air; my body, light as breath, danced upon melody. Since
then,I learnt to be thrilled by song.

A feeling, overflowing on the edge of wind brought the word of excitement
To my unawake lips. Since then, learnt to speak.

One morning, aye—as I stood drunk
With golden dawn, the waves in my eyes
Swirled with the falling leaves from a distant height.
The urge to touch them burned in my little heart.
Since then, I learnt to be curious.

Slipping away from thy tender hand, I ran to catch
A falling leaf. But—O fie!—
I could not catch it. I chased its flight,
But the wind took it farther still.
My eyes could not reach it as it vanished nto invisible sight.
Since then, I learnt to walk.

II.
I extend these words from the little heart of mine—
and that is my deepest Adulation to thee, my beloved parents!

I know not how I’ve wandered upon the Mesh of Age
to reach this mile of oldness—
nor dost I know how
I’ve rushed
over the many troubled obstacles
encountered through each age.

This little strange tale of mine, O dear ones, hath alighted from thy ***** hands.

In the kingly and queenly world of thine,
I expanded on the rhythm
of ineffable joyance. I know not its bounds—but surely, I cherished
the flower and its hidden honey
thou hast bestowed upon me
from the holy blossom of thy hearts.

Thou hast attained all my childly cravings
and adorned this sullen face of mine
with a garland of thy warm smiles.

Thou hast shielded me from all ailments,
given me warm garments—never
letting my body wither from winter’s breeze
or burn beneath the barnstorming heat of summer.

Mother, when hunger ailed my stomach,
I spelt thy name and cried
in dissonant pitch.Thou didst come
and place a plate of rice before me.

In the midst of night, when silence spread its wings and thirst parched my throat,
I awoke thee—and thou didst bring
a cup of water to quench my longing.

Father, what I must never forget about thee
is this: Thou hast shed endless blood and sweat
upon the earthly mud, so I may live this life of plenty.

I am grateful to both of thee—my beloved parents! Without thy presence,
I would not have come this far, nor so long.

III.
Mother, I've cried out the mighty tears
For one thing— and that's the signet ring.

I cried all the days and all the nights for that. I
Even refused to take the meals thou

Hast given to me from thy motherly hand.
Thou hast bought me the little play toy—

But fie, couldn't bring the harmony to these dissonant eyes of mine! The tears

Unseemly overflowed on its expanding Despair. I was a small and innocent kid,

My mother, as I saw that signet ring Glitter bright on the man's finger, it took

My eyes' captive  away and made me
Oozed upon the mesh of longingness.

By then, I witnessed the tears in my eyes.
I knew not how to extinguish this burning

Agony of my heart— it seemed more Intense as the days passed. All of my

Energies lost to pale weakness. I seem To have had sleepless nights; tossing

And turning on the bed, overshadowed
By the ailing insomnia. I only wished to

Have it on one of my fingers, bright and Illuminating grace like a blue diamond.

It was thy love, at last, thou Hast given it to me on the final day

And cured the very tears of craving. I Heaved a sigh of relief since then.

IV.
Such a blessed land, wherein have I taken my refuge! Such a blessed land is none but mine own home of a hundred years!

Thou art my dwelling through the ages, my belovèd Motherland. How fair and beloved art thou! Thou hast granted me a place most fitting, wherein to make my long and joyful sojourn.

It is my high privilege to live beneath thy sky, to embrace the endless favours thou hast poured upon me. Yea, the joy I have gathered is as the scent of thy very soil—sweet, unspoken, and full of pride unbounded.

All that is hushed and still—the mountains arrayed in peace, weaving the vision of beauty; all that is rich and gentle—the waters that stir the tongue like honey from the comb; all that is of the earth—the never-fading clay that upholdeth all life. O, I knew not I was made so accustomed to them! Such fortune is mine!

My life doth blossom brightly within thy heavenly garden; and now may I adorn mine own soul, within and without, as the Camellia flourisheth in thy midst. Would that my life had no end, and my limbs knew not decay—I would walk the ages over, treading centuries down, turning olden days into new.

Yet all thou hast bestowed upon me is not mine by right, but I have received it as sacred gift. Thou hast given unto me shelter, and stood before me without shame, exposed and undefended—yet in truth, thou hast guarded me from all harms. Such is thy divine favour, O my belovèd Motherland!

Such a blessed land, wherein have I taken my refuge! Such a blessed land is none but mine own home of a hundred years!

Deep am I plunged into the bottomless well of pride, that I was born upon this soil of kingly harmony. It is thy mercy alone that I have reached this age in safety; for that, I owe thee thanks eternal. Such is my fortune!

What know others of thee? What grasp they of that honey’d essence, thick and golden, that floweth from thy very breast, past all mortal words to tell?

To me, thou art loftier than all the spheres—there is naught above thee. Such is thy might. Thy love surpasseth all value; not even an age of a thousand years would suffice to repay it.

Yea, 'tis sin to tread upon thy sacred body—but thou, being ever patient and full of grace, hast borne my weight these many years, weariness and all.

Such a blessed land, wherein have I taken my refuge!
Such a blessed land is none but mine own home of a hundred years!

V.
Mother, the emblem of love,
A residence of eternal glory,
A supreme fragrance,
The Utopian idealist—
Gifted one, strong existentialist,
Dwelling
deep beneath the vault of stars.

O thou who art called Mother!
Thou art the balm to our mortal woes,
The song sung in joy that time forgetteth.
Under thy celestial embrace are
we sheltered,
And the stars do bear witness
to thy grace.

Men say thou hast reached the realm of purest love,
That high and holy sphere where
few may tread—
A summit unseen,
Where the soul drinketh joy as nectar divine.
Thou art the ever-watchful keeper,
A mirror of the soul celestial.
And we—naught but thy
shadows,
The very shadows thou dost bear
in silence.

Behind thy lashes, tears lie veiled,
Yet on thy lips, a smile endureth.
Thou hast armed us
With care unceasing, love unspent.
As the sun warmeth the field of sunflowers,
So hast thou warmed the days of our becoming.

O thou selfless being, echo of the primeval mother—
The ancient Devi, whom gods revere—
To thee are our hearts forever sworn.
Thou hast tended us with unseen hands,
And in thy absence, all is void,
And nothing liveth. Without
thee, O Mother, there is no being.
There is no meaning.

VI.
In this very fragrant and heavenly garden of thine, my noble king, I am one of the blooming flowers.

Indeed, I had luck to be grown upon thy garden; and I never knew I would grow rich in fragrance, it's only the blessing thou hast bestowed upon me as a century-long gift.

All that I am embracing is none other than the grace of light that showers richly from thy own kingly heart, and it knows no bounds.

This small garden of thine, for which thou hast immense love, lies at one periphery of thy heart.

Thou hast carried it against all the trouble storms and protected these long years. Each day, thou hast tirelessly worked to give the very harmony to this garden of thine.

That's how all the flowers have come to bloom of their own each, so bright and fragrant.

As the very petals of mine have touched upon
Thy majestic hands, it gave me the endless birth of pride at heart.

How fortunate am I to be grown
Upon this garden of thine!

Each morning, I awaken not just to bloom  but to offer thee my fragrance in humble devotion, for thy timeless love and care.

VII.
At this age of thy oldness, my grandfather, as I touch thy supreme hands, these intangible eyes of my
heart
break down in tears of adoration.

It is because of thy grandfatherly love and countless deeds that I offer these words to thee—words from my heart,
Long hidden and unslipped from the edge of my lips until this very day.

Knowest thou the time before the break of ****** dawn?

Getting up as early as four, walking upon the harsh meadow
Enshrouded in thick dew, fetching
water from far away,
Bearing the cold touch of winter’s breeze—two jerkins full,
Thy hands heavy, no torch, only the grace of the rich moonlight to guide
thy way.

Ah, had it been today, I would've at least helped thee carry one.

Boiling the water warm for our washing,
Cooking a rather-delicious breakfast,
Helping us wear the gho, neat and clean,
Then walking us all the way to school—on foot.

Ah, had it been today, I would've at least walked to school myself.

Thou didst celebrate the pain of love
in silence—like a man of supremacy.
All the days,
Tirelessly sweating and soaking
In another’s field,
Earning a petty ransom
For our welfare and school stationeries.

Ah, had it been today, I would've at least worked myself, and taken care of my needs.

Bearing a body heavy with tiredness,
Yet walking
To the school gate—wearing a torn jacket,
Folding thy wounded arms tight,
And waiting, alone,
Through the slow passage of time
Till the school hour passed.

Ah, had it been today, I would've at least returned home by myself.

I wonder—How thou didst pass half
of thy life with us! Taking care of us
All days, a ll nights—
Living in that small, ill-thatched camp
That wast never kind to thee.
But by the virtue of thy presence,
Day and night, we have grown—
Healthy,
Untroubled, and blessed to this very day.

 VIII.
In this fragile land abide thy coy footprints, unwithered still;
And it seemeth to me
That the sweat thou didst shed
Lingereth there— a sacred trace.

I recall thy wounded hands,
Healed only through the blisters’
pain.
Each day thou toiled in the field,
Ploughing beneath the
scorching sun,
Cutting down the wild grass,
Feeding the herd,
And walking to the moorish hill
In search of firewood.

Alas! No slippers on thy feet,
Yet thou didst endure
The sting of nettle and stone.
Indeed, thou never faltered,
Never failed to carry out thy labours.
Each moment thou didst
touch
Turned hallowed in thy hands.

In thine eyes have I grown to this
age.
With thee, I shared my joy and
love—and from thee
I learnt to endure, to labour with
silence, to suffer with dignity.

Though I have walked through pain,
It is thy constant guidance
That shaped my every lesson.
Thou didst make of me a master in my youth—
Early crowned by thy example.
I must ever regard thy fatherly companionship,
Thy quiet mastery, which taught
more than words could speak.

Today, I behold thee changed.
The weight of years hath
overshadowed
Thy once-wandering strength—
Yet the fire within
Still burneth bright, unfading in thy heart.

Yea, even now, I see thee labouring—
Despite thy oldness,
Despite the burden of time.
And all that I am today, all that I live,
is built upon
Thy endless toil and tenacity.

 IX.
The only heaven that ever hath
revealed its glory
unto mine eyes is thee,
My dear patria!
How could I forget thee
In the long procession of time?

Thou art to me a gentle
companion, and all the endless
remembrances that I
carry in one chamber of my  heart
Have grown and stirred
since my youth,
Wherein I played amid  thy
boundless
fields and ways. My dear patria!
How could I forget thee
In the long procession of time?

I know, when time did arrest
my step,
I left thee, and thou didst
weep in
voiceless grief
For many moons.
Yet surely, I too mourned for it,
For that parting was my
folly.
My dear patria!
How could I forget thee
In the long procession of time?

O’er the steady tide of passing
months,
A wearisome disquiet did cloak
the very
soil of mine heart,
Vexing me often, tempting my
hand to
weave strange threads upon
the loom of
memory.
Thy mystic love did ebb and stir
within me
In silent utterance.

All the visions that glistened
before mine
eyes were but images of the
fragile land
that bore me—thy gentle
mountains,
Thy hollows and streams that
oft did catch
my gaze, and the bright, laughing
dwellers
that peopled thy plains. Yea, the
sweetness
of thy fruits and the pure waters
that once
touched my lips
Have haunted my very sense
of taste.

And now, all my griefs have come to rest.
For I have returned—
And in thy majesty shall I lose
myself again.
My dear patria! How could I forget thee
In the long procession of time?

 X.
In thine sweet farewell, my beloved teachers,
Mine eyes break forth in tears
Of silent grief—
For our years of flowery union
In this school have
faded with the passage of time.

Our teacher-student love was deeply and utterly rooted
Beneath the very substratum of hearts—
Unseen,
Yet surely felt, a joy relished in silence.

We cherished our days through
learning and shared experience.
Together, we rushed against
the stony trials,
The vicissitudes of life, and thrived beneath
The gracious light of education.

Yea, even in our mischiefs, ye were
the gentle hands that bore our faults
And shaped our spirits—
Upholding our failings, guiding us forth
With the rich ornaments of discipline.

Thou treated us well, indeed, like
thine own sons and daughters.
Thy scoldings,
Sharp for our undone labors,
Were rightly given—else how
might we have ripened to reap
the sweet fruit of this noble academy?

Thus shall we remember
Thy unwavering care,
Thy steadfast mentorship
Bestowed upon us
All throughout our stay.
The light thou didst reveal—
Though once veiled—
Now shines upon our skies,
To guide us on through the
long passage of life.

But more than all, the sweet
fragrance of love,
That ever sweetened our young
days,
Came from the garden
Of thine own hearts.
And that scent, it shall haunt
us evermore. I claim it so.

With this, I pen off And I do pray
These humble verses reach thee, someday.

Fare thee well, to all my kingly and queenly teachers. And know this truth:
It is uneasy in my heart to leave thy kingdom to its lonesome.

XI.
O monk, how worthy is thy
long-sleeved robe—
Wide and dark,
Saffroned with solemn grace.
I, the lone wayfarer,
Do walk to thy quiet temple,
To seek thy blessing
in silence.
Wouldst thou lead me in?

For I bear no sin, nor scorn
within my heart.
I have withered the hues of
both,
Faded them to a glanceless
colour. O monk,
Before thou leadest me
within,
Let me not forget to bow
my whole
body at thy sacred feet.

Thou, at the edge of thine altar
hall, dost grant me the warm
floor
To rest this weary frame.
Thou takest out thy prayer
beads, ready to chant
Thy songs and sacred words.

O monk, shall I join thee in
voice, or sit in silence,
My mouth sealed in listening?
Ah—such is thy presence.
And thy costless
bliss, thy love and nobility,
Are divine gifts
That I ever seek to reach.

Thou offerest millions of
butter-lamps for me,
And for all kindred beings,
Here and across this
din-filled world.
And when I depart from
this place, let me not
forget
To extend my deepest
gratitude—together
with holy reverence.

XII.
'Tis thy mystic lamp that doth cast its immortal light of love upon our firmament. It is our pride to adorn our lives with the bright ornaments of gladness—woven in the garden of thy heart.

O Noble Majesty! Upon this humble shore of the boundless sea, we dwell in the harmony of unity. The fruits of joy are reaped across our fields by the sharp and subtle song of thy love.

Thou art the divine musician, whose realm is founded upon the reed-bed of melody. Sweet stillness maketh her abode within the halls of thy flute, and along the trembling strings of thy harp.

These mortal lives do dance, moving in accord with thy celestial strains; and our hearts stretch forth their wings of reverence, to bow low and touch thy feet with most faithful love and devotion.

XIII.
It's my pride to adorn these crown jewels of flowers to my heart, woven along the gardens of my life.

O, love of my life! Thou hast shone through the mirrors of tears. Thou hast shone through the strange vales of fears. And thou hast shone through the dissonant melody of death's flute.

O, love of my life! I never knew that it was thee and thy love. When thou camest by the threshold of my door, I scorned thee. And when thou camest by myside and toucheth upon me, I cursed thee.

O, love of my life! Yet still thou left me not. Thou hast given me a vortex of strength at heart to break through and against all barriers that bound my way. Thou hast given myriad births to smile upon my face to withstand grief and anger that come by flood of mob deeds.

O, love of my life! I never
knew that it was all thy mystic gifts of fragrance came from
the flowers of thine own heart. When I realise today, ah, it was thee and its endless love. Now, the only assurance that bursts before my mouth is speech of gratitude— with love
and reverence, in return.

XIV.
Beloved motherland,— I beseech thee, shed not thy tears when I do take my leave for evermore,
departing from thy fair and hallowed soil. A garden near to paradise,
adorn’d with a thousand hues of blooming grace, and an immortal sea of sweet perfume,
wherein I did steep mine heart with pride,— for ne’er again shall I return.

Oft shall my soul yearn to lie upon thy tender *****,
yet the path that once led me home may vanish ‘fore mine eyes.
Thus must I pour forth the fullness of my thanks from the deep well of my heart,—
for thou wert beside me ere I knew the light,
abiding from dawn unto dusk, like a soft melody breathed upon the reed.

Ah,— when first I didst draw breath within thy bounds, I came with empty hand,
bare of limb and soul alike, and knew not shame.
I was a stranger to mine own visage, beholding my self within thy mirror.
A lonely thing was I,— lost amid the hush,
possessing naught, and known by none.
The first breath thou gav’st me to draw
was thy garden’s own sweet incense.

The first draught thou didst bestow
was milk from thy *****,— rich as wine to mine infant lips.
And the first shelter thou offeredst for my rest
were the warm folds of thy lap.
Blessed am I, that I was born beneath thy queenly love.
How, then, can I bear to depart,
and leave thee lone behind?

Yet know this, sweet mother,— my life is no eternal hymn
that lingers ‘twixt the stars, echoing o’er thy skies.
What rendeth us asunder is Time’s relentless hand. I pray thee, weep not,—
for I may not flee his dark and fated gaze.
A poem love and gratitude.

Give me to carry
just a fragment of the cross.
A single thorn, or single lash
to suffer. A drop of blood.

At your worst, holding you
seemed to make the world make sense -
to you, at least -
but the nurses had lorazepam for that
and in more ways than one
I came to know impotence.

Like a supplicant, eating nothing at all
and playing cards with myself
while waiting for the Visitation.

At your best, I brought Halloween string lights
and Halloween candy for the holy sisters
and pagan holiday or no,
we gave that room the feeling of a convent,
and I wrung my hands while you slept.

Home in midafternoon and anxious
rosaries in azure on the bedsheets
and flowers in brown, on green field
dormant.

Sleeplessness was penance,
and so was I absolved; thus some of that
absolution affixed itself to relics
and that rubber duck on the dashboard
I touched in the morning traffic.
It glowed to say
your spirit was with me.

And though I now can sleep at any hour,
I examine it all the same
for some of Christ’s blood, or his forgiveness,
hoping to find the signet ring of the Pope
or at least some of your halo
where I should expect
the Byzantine absence of it.
Your brown feathers are turning white
Waiting for adult wings to carry you off.
The water is clear
As you graze on the river bed
So close you hold us silent.
We listen to your shape
See how you sound
Half fish
Half bird now.
You bend us
Like light refracted
On this ancient modern stream.
Like warp.
We dream into your name
And swan dive with you
In this time.

stately tall, you meekly stand
on your finger the signet band
for my sake you shunned your crown
for my breath your devotion fierce

you gave for me your sword and squire
your hospitality did never tire
proud brothers in battle or play
companionly we went about each day

in your shadow I had no care
my home's cupboards were never bare
song and merriment never missed
hunger a stranger to my lips

your place at court set second to mine
your heart pure - best fruit of the vine
your eyes reflect esteem so dear
no man's affection held so near

O gallant Prince, in battle slain
my soul cries out for you in pain
why you've set Saul's crown on my head -
a long-held secret I shan't covet

My lord, could one ever repay;
the debt of friendship's love dismay?
to live this life as noble and true
to generously care and give as you

Prince of the Realm, if you could hear
the Scroll of the Upright, loud and clear
in the Song of the Bow proclaimed
praise of our filial bond inscribed.

Baroness of grace with a rose in your hair
you walked in beauty  like the light of day
your  delicate perfume was springtime air
it scented every corner ,  of your sway
The newborn flowers strewn across your stare
hunger for the ***** of a gardeners way
back in the day when you lived with the Baron
you bloomed each August like the Rose of Sharon

But now he has gone to a far away place
where angels are holding him close to their wing
As  violets bloom where once he did trace,
his lips to the touch of your gold signet ring
you hunger for kisses to cover your face
but your young youthful lover no longer sings
He's flown up in heaven where angel's adore
and spring lasts forever beyond heaven's door

Springtime is here and its bringing no strife
perhaps you can find a new love of your own
he's gone to the angels, it cuts like a knife
adolescent love blown away from your home
the roses are blooming again bringing life
to a young Baroness with no need to atone
Baroness of grace with a rose in your heart,
spring is calling, now you must do your part.

With the loss of his two greatest rebel heroes,
the evil Absolute enlists the enigmatic Winter
Blonde to find a champion to replace Captain
Confederacy, l'il Dixie & White Lightnin'...

With the aid of her faithful slave Mamma
Jamma, Winter Blonde raises the spirit
of L'il Dixie using the slave's mysterious
art of ancient African Hoodoo!

Brought to Eerie afterlife, the disembodied
ghost hovers above them, Dixie's spirit flickering
in the shadow of the large fireplace's flames...

At the astonishing sight, Winter Blonde faints,
leaving Jamma alone with the ghost... the spirit
growing stronger as the old slave continues her
jumbled chant of magical African incantations...

Until at last, Mamma Jamma is able to direct
the wild spirit into the suit of 16th century
steel armor standing in the parlor, bringing
the shining metal figure to horrific undead life...
medieval weapons & all!!!

The Confederate Revengers
effectively destroyed; the evil
mastermind known only as
the Absolute devises a plot to
expose the Union spy in their
midst, hoping to prove the
pesky Northerner's undoing...

Summoning Winter Blonde,
Mamma Jamma, the Human
Locomotive & Moonshine to
a secret meeting in the bare
Kave of the ****, the Absolute
spells out his plan to stop the
Union from expanding the
railroad still further west...

"The red man will stand behind
us! But first we must show them
that we can stop the ******
Yankees in their tracks...literally!"

Rechristened The Confederate Crusaders,
the diabolical plot is swiftly set in motion...

Bribing the duplicitous Indian Squaw
White Dove with ample wampum,
Medusa is able to discover the evil plan...

The hyperactive Human Locomotive,
outracing the Iron Horse headed out
to the newly opened western frontier;
as the shining new engine steams
through Indian country, a surprise
attack by a horse-mounted wild Indians
emerges from the surrounding hills...

Armed with long Winchester rifles &
bows & arrows, soon the steaming
locomotive is under assault by the deadly
red savages!!! Medusa, disguised as a
genteel Southern Belle, going to the
caboose she quickly loosens her hoops
& pantaloons to the shock of the car's
frightened passengers & leaps from the
train's railing onto the tracks as the terrified
stoker feeds the belching furnace to speed
through the violent Indian assault...

Seeing herself hopelessly outnumbered,
Medusa has no recourse but to use the
Smaragdine Signet Ring bestowed to the
Gorgon Queen by Hermes Trismesgistus
himself to summon her compatriots
to help her defeat the onrushing red horde!
With the cry of, "3Ms!" at once appears
three of the mightiest warriors drawn from
the Classical Golden Age...

Mithra, ancient mysterious hero who can
single-handedly defeat a herd of charging
bulls with his super hard club that can shatter
every bone with a single blow!!!

Minerva...undefeated warrior goddess
& superlative archer!!!

& of course, the superhuman & blood-
thirsty Minotaur, freed from his labyrinthine
prison!!!

The vintage heroes making short work of
the startled red men...all the while being
watched from the hills by the cowardly
Indian Running Bear...who then sees
coming in a cloud of raised dust the swift
Human Locomotive racing to the Indians'
rescue!!!

Horses thrown through the air by bulging,
muscled arms & terrified Indians dropping
weapons & dashing off on foot... the Human
Locomotive plows through the scattering
red skins to charge the heroes directly!!!

His brawny legs moving too quickly to stop,
the Locomotive finds his face crumpled into
the Minotaur's stone-hard fist...

But also on board the train are Winter Blonde
in her everyday guise of a prim schoolmarm
along with her faithful slave Mamma Jamma...
Mamma mumbling the jumbled incantation
to raise the several spirits of dead Indians, but
as well the animated armored suit now dubbed
The White Knight!!!

Faced with an angry army of the undead,
the 3M's one goal is to ensure the train's safe
passage through the blood-haunted territory...

Realizing Mithra is fighting an empty steel
shell, his deft blows denting but not stopping
the brutish metal monster... until using her
ring of enchanted Emerald, Captain Medusa
succeeds in blasting a hole through the thing's
chest plate, the beast shuddering but unharmed
& tossing her aside to face the next oncoming
hero, the Mighty Mithra who easily smacks the
flailing arms right off the hoodoo spawned hellion...
but the detached steel fists continue to grip at
the Greek hero's bare muscled limbs...

Seeing the Arcadian champion gripped from
all sides, Minotaur & Minerva run to his aid...

Meanwhile, seeing the small bare footprints
appearing in the desert sand making their way
away from the stalled locomotive, its coal
supply exhausted by the feverish stoking of
the frightened train's crew...

Seeing no one, Medusa wondered how to best
an invisible foe until striking upon the idea
of raising a tornado of dust better to view the
figure's outline but when the ground is whipped
up into a whirling cyclone that rises into the air
not only is the female Confederate revealed to be
starkers but the spinning dust comes into contact
with low overhanging clouds -- the sky darkening
only to burst into a torrential desert rainstorm...

The Human Locomotive finding his feet mired
in mud, the Iron Horse remaining perched on a
high plateau beyond the reach of the amazing
runner's tired & weakened lower limbs...

Tuckered & unable to run uphill, the crestfallen
Southern hero slows to a brisk walk while the rain
poured in buckets... soon the unwieldy metal monster
begins to rust in place & become immobile, Mithra
is able to free himself from the ghostly armor's
fingers; the stiff suit rigid and unmoving as a statue...

The Winter Blonde standing wet & naked could do
nothing to shield her body as the ***** rain fell
all around... seeing her reddened embarrassment,
Mamma Jamma leaping from the train ran to cover
her mistress with a thin shawl...

Minerva taking up a red man's fallen bow & a handful
of arrows takes precise aim pierces the evil slave through;
Mamma Jamma collapsing at her naked mistress' feet...

The dead red spirits quenched, return with fading
howls to the red dirt... Winter Blonde taken into
Union custody, her body tarred so that she can no
longer deceive anyone with her absent appearance!!!

Husky whispers
of her voice
resounding with
the echoes
of the cave.
She sounded so
close but yet
so faraway.
The whisk of
her scent
i caught.
Moving down
the lane quickly
to find her.
The breeze
blowing to bring
her scent to
my senses.
She smells
of jasmine and
of lilac.
Whiffed like a
hunting dog
i hurried faster
to get her.
Confident of
my steps on
the narrow path,
i steadied my
self on the
willow tree.
Bracing myself,
i ran down
the ***** towards
the west end
of the valley
where she lay
down as if sleeping,
i picked her up
not minding the
wet velvet red
gown on her.
She may be royal
because of the
golden bracelet and
the signet gold ring
on her finger.
A sigh of
relief she muttered
as she held
so tightly
onto my shoulders.
And up
i went towards
the hills to
get her home.
As the trickling
rain shower woke
the sleeping beauty.
Quietly she opened
a beautiful yet
veiled face and
peeped at me
for the first time
through the dark wet
hair that stuck
on her face.
With a subtle smile
on her face,
she gazed up
at me and
her lips moved,
she whispered softly,
as she says,
thank you.
And that is enough.

Let not our hearts be troubled, as we wait upon the Lord.
Help us not to stumble,in case we fail to rise.
Help us not to exalt ourselves, lest we be taken down.
Help us not to remove  our eyes from you,
Lest You turn your face the other way.
Help us not to close our ears, lest from you we do not hear.
Help us to know our sins, that righteousness we do not esteem as our own.
Help us always to see the needs of others, so we may give a lending hand.
Help us not to faulter
but to seek you while you may be found.
Turn not Your back from us because it is your pity we require.
Do not harden Your heart against us because sheoul is not a place we  seek.
But make us now a written  letter and place us in Your heart.
Seal us with Your signet ring and in there will I abide.
