There are who lord it o'er their fellow-men
With most prevailing tinsel: who unpen

To mark these shadowings, and stand in awe.

  The old man rais'd his hoary head and saw
The wilder'd stranger--seeming not to see,
His features were so lifeless. Suddenly
He woke as from a trance; his snow-white brows
Went arching up, and like two magic ploughs
Furrow'd deep wrinkles in his forehead large,
Which kept as fixedly as rocky marge,
Till round his wither'd lips had gone a smile.
Then up he rose, like one whose tedious toil
Had watch'd for years in forlorn hermitage,
Who had not from mid-life to utmost age

The blight of the human condition is the existential schism that we all experience, every denomination, every label, every creed, they serve to divide. A sage once uttered, "...we're all one. The ordinances of the Sun & Moon shine on each one of us indiscriminately. The heavenly bodies do not dare mete out illumination lest fulminant with impartiality. Therefore, be compassionate in your arbitration."

It is only when we possess an undivided eye, that the Multiverse begins to flow abundantly through each one of us. Every soul upon the Earthen Mother has the unbound potential to achieve. Before this, a mandate of introspective awareness of our existential purpose cometh, to actuate our highest divine. Some of us find that awakening only when a kindred soul jostles our own. At times, it is that entity that possesses the secret key to our most veritable of identities.

We need each other. It is only when we come to realize this that the spirit burgeons deep within our anima. We can never underestimate the value of our spiritual kin if we are to effloresce, metamorphose, and blossom as spiritual entities. There is so much to be learned from every moment of pain. Every vagrancy, every perfidy, every bout of dereliction; consequently, these are all impediments to our existential success.

If I am to move forward and to transcend the difficulties transpiring, I must ne’er absolve myself of my duty as an entity of light. It is my fundamental belief that every soul is brought into this world with an inherent virtue, an intrinsic excellency. Sometimes, our experiences take us out of our sense of equanimity; moreover, we lose our sense of balance, feeling less poised to confront thorns. This occurs when we are accosted with a fusillade of trials. These gauntlets assay our ability to endure.

Trial in-and-of-itself can make us feel as though we are predisposed, foreordained, or even predestined to suffer. But suffering is the commonality of creation. In difficulty, there is always an opportunity to manifest resolve.

If we ail together, we are ennobled together. Vexation irritates the soul, but in the end, whence transcended, it also liberates. In most circumstances, the very same thing that enfetters us serves to free us from a pre-condition that no longer serves its existential purpose.
      
Take life as it comes, unabating in your longing for ascendency. You will rise Heavensward, if-and-only-if you take the stance never to surrender: Seek Justice, burgeon in Love, acquire Wisdom, grow in Might. It is only then that you will be complete in every respect; it is only then that your spirit will subdue the flesh. The carnal is vehement in it’s pining, yet the incorporeal essence is intemerate in its yearning.

A full Moon through a telescope is really something to behold;

Ô vieux mont des martyrs, hélas, garde ton nom !
Les morts, sabrés, hachés, broyés par le canon,
Dans ce champ que la tombe emplit de son mystère,
Etaient ensevelis la tête hors de terre.
Cet homme les avait lui-même ainsi placés,
Et n'avait pas eu peur de tous ces fronts glacés.
Ils étaient là, sanglants, froids, la bouche entrouverte,
La face vers le ciel, blêmes dans l'herbe verte,
Effroyables à voir dans leur tranquillité,

Côte à côte rangés dans l'ombre au pied des ifs,
Livides, stupéfaits, immobiles, pensifs,
Spectres du même crime et des mêmes désastres,
De leur oeil fixe et vide ils regardaient les astres.
Dès l'aube, on s'en venait chercher dans ce gazon
L'absent qui n'était pas rentré dans la maison ;
Le peuple contemplait ces têtes effarées ;
La nuit, qui de décembre abrège les soirées,
Pudique, les couvrait du moins de son linceul.
Le soir, le vieux gardien des tombes, resté seul,
Hâtait le pas parmi les pierres sépulcrales,
Frémissant d'entrevoir toutes ces faces pâles
Et tandis qu'on pleurait dans les maisons en deuil,
L'âpre bise soufflait sur ces fronts sans cercueil,
L'ombre froide emplissait l'enclos aux murs funèbres ;
Ô morts, que disiez-vous à Dieu dans ces ténèbres ?

On eût dit, en voyant ces morts mystérieux
Le cou hors de la terre et le regard aux cieux,
Que, dans le cimetière où le cyprès frissonne,
Entendant le clairon du jugement qui sonne,
Tous ces assassinés s'éveillaient brusquement,
Qu'ils voyaient, Bonaparte, au seuil du firmament
Amener devant Dieu ton âme horrible et fausse,
Et que, pour témoigner, ils sortaient de leur fosse.

Montmartre ! enclos fatal ! quand vient le soir obscur
Aujourd'hui le passant évite encor ce mur.

Darkness consumes me during the day
Leaves me empty without say
Asking it kindly with a whisper at night,
Make my pupil small,
Remove my cornea light.

Mentation pushing me 'round
In a mess is where I wound
The mental screen
Refuses to reveal itself
To the iris of this very teen

Full sockets begging to be closed
Understanding is disclosed.
Held open in custody,
Hauntingly alert
I wish for somebody.

To create a path so clear
For the darkness I do not fear
In promise of a reverie
In waiting of Nox

They call me Subject B.

Belly full with the pills
they fed me, still hungry,

legs pumping
to pendulum this swing,

inside a playground
that ignores my miming,

shrieking and throwing feces,
at hairless beings who nox me.

Dreaming of melting
the swing's chain, I fly
feet dangling over
cages of sick chimpanzees,
to a distant galaxy
that grows banana trees.

Awaken I see
empty syringes strewn
outside the crisscrosses
of my cage, trenchcoats
storm like flurries.
I still cannot read my nameplate.

I hope on my swing,
pumping my legs
back and forth,
back and forth,
back and forth —
glassy eyes watering.
Sleep - Oh my dear friend why do you hide
midst the turbulent brooding that twist
and tumble within my fatigued mind?.
Come, let slumber kiss my heavy eyes,
whilst Luna roves the scene Nox has spread,
waken for me Somnus from his bed
to still thoughts and words erratic chase,
till Morpheus dreams then takes their place:
thence to grant me slumbers precious peace,
Come - settle my mind: Please - let me sleep.

Alors il vint, cassé de débauches, l'oeil terne,

Going through my old school copybooks and notes,
The scribbles and drawings portray the mind
of someone ill-at-ease with the world,
Yet they summon odd nostalgia.

In the calm of the room, by the window's
fading sunlight, I leaf through
my secondary school biology experiment book

There are lines and references to Gordan Freeman
from Half-Life 2, and other art media of the time,
such as quotes from Heisenberg in Breaking Bad
and embarrassingly detailed instructions
and cost estimates for synthesizing MDMA.
Maybe it's for the best I didn't take chemistry.
Then again, the margins of my third-level notes
contain updates on darkweb marketplaces of old
as well as Anglo-Saxon poetry and Game of Thrones.

I wonder about my metaphysical health during these times
but make no judgements on fond memories
of old friends, home comforts.

Strange, these moments
from past lives.
Soon [it is] night.
