The colour I see in… perfect darkness?
In german we call it Eigengrau. It's beautiful name for such a colour, and a beautiful colour for our eyes.
It's a colour that takes everything away, turns it into nothing, giving you everything.
Sounds strange, like a paradox, you might think now.
Maybe, probably, most likely it is like that.
"Nachts sind alle Katzen grau.", is also something we Germans tend to say. All cats are grey in the dark; meaning that in the night, everyone is the same, we can not tell them apart anymore.
So the beautiful colour, a noun, called *Eigengrau" basically makes us all the same.
Sometimes I wish we would always see other people in Eigengrau, because then, even the last of them would realize that we are all the same, no matter which religion, sexuality, etc. we have.
Eigengrau: (n.) "dark light" or "brain grey"; the colour seen by the eye in perfect darkness // origin: german
a tropher found Grau
and everywhere lay his fawn
while love's artifice dig chéri
and orient this earth that desire weather

and while out on the horizon he'll dust the farm
but still pond a sparrow 'bout to splatter its bath
in a morning of lust that soon will burn off

with an intent lasting sheen
fore the hour drive to town
as his roads are the ride
amid this country has made her shine
that always ponder the air on such afternoons
only to purchase a bottle of her perfume
then pleasantly he'll puncture the throttle
with a just look in her garden.

Unterwegs seh ich
bekümmerte Gesichter
Viele schon älter,
Gekleidet schlichter.

Wartend auf den nächsten Bus,
Augen verdrehen wegen Verdruss.
Graue Stadt, grau *******der Nebel
Alles umhüllt, vom Nieseln umspült.

Allein unter vielen, die Wärme vermisst,
In Kälte gehüllt.
In meiner grauen Stadt letzten Dezember 2023.

Auf den Schwingen geflügelter Worte,
werden Sätze zu Zeitreisenden,

tragen uns fort,
