Social butterfly
Late for wedding bouquet toss
Caught by early bird.
I am greatly disturbed,
by the world's current climate.
There's a storm brewing.
Lynn Stillman Jun 20
I drift in an out ,
of consciousness in a world ,
that's forgotten me
Lynn Stillman Jun 27
My mind is cluttered
Second hand, hand me down thoughts,
sold at a yard sale.
Some thoughts comfort you
Others chill you to the bone,
they are yours alone.
Alone with my thoughts
They are lousy company
I've grown to loathe them.
Used to be so flattering
Now they only ridicule.
Any tide I fight,
brings me closer to the shore.
His light is my guide.
Lynn Stillman Jun 30
The clock ticks In time,
With a heart that's out of time
The second hand sweeps.
People they may cry
Because life is slipping past
Time they cannot buy
Lynn Stillman Jun 24
Sweeping hands of time
Slowly they would stroke my face
Now they're quick to harm.
Time is like a politician
talking out of both sides of its mouth
First it is devoted to you
Then it's heading south
The hands of time are rude
They're giving you the finger
Maybe you'll be dead tomorrow
Maybe you will linger
In short, time will not be chased
It will move at its own pace
Like the rabbit gets complacent ,
and the tortoise wins the race.
Lynn Stillman Jun 30
You'll be okay
Relax and enjoy your stay
Tomorrow's your day
Lynn Stillman Jun 27
Writing poetry
Emotions flow through my pen,
form a gentle pool
Heart and mind's thoughts translated
The pen a god given tool.
Don't know how to feel.
You put all your dreams aside.
Because you met me.
My love on the floor.
You sweep it away and with ease.
As if it were trash.
Do you see
The wind move the trees
The birds take flight
It's no subtle breeze
The trees do a dance
They thrash about
The rhythm steady
If they could they would shout
When the wind dies down
Trees perfectly still
They didn't take the prize
But next time they will.
I believe in you,
as my armor falls away.
My heart in your hands.
Lynn Stillman Jun 29
Friends break your heart's door
Do you prop the door open?
Or just leave It be.
Lynn Stillman Jun 30
Trying to forgive you
Trust Broken, my heart too
You plead your ciase to me
What am I to do
Perhaps in another place and time
This mountain we could climb
Now though there's no way
I can't make things rhyme
Maybe you should just leave
In you I won't believe
Not one word you say
Why must you deceive?
My heart had an open door
Your richness stole my poor
You stole my faith and hope
All that I stood for
I followed my heart
But it was torn asunder,
simply for trusting.
In all honesty
Your conscience will not be free
Till the truth you see
Lynn Stillman Jun 18
Holding close the truth
Unbreakable is the bond
A love born of trust
You have lied to me.
Twisted and turned the truth.
I can bend no more.
Lynn Stillman Jun 28
The truth it does hurt
But is so necessary
When getting even!
Lynn Stillman Jun 23
Incoming tears fall
A barrage of past failures
Dropped by hate of self
Lynn Stillman Jun 30
Lady on my screen
Says my laundry isn't clean
Judging sight unseen.
Lynn Stillman Jun 26
Hard to understand,
how anyone could love me
Just seems so far fetched
I'll still follow you,
this love unrequieted,
till the moon grows dim.
Lynn Stillman Jun 23
Unrequited love
It laughs and spits in your face
Takes without giving
Lynn Stillman Jun 30
All the things I miss
Misshapen puzzle pieces,
I can't force to fit.
Lynn Stillman Jul 10
I came up for air.
But couldn't find the surface.
You guided me there.
Us
Lynn Stillman Jun 30
Us
Dreams of summers past
Beach day, kids in tow
A smile, a laugh, your face aglow
Fast forward to now
You barely glance my way
Silent dinners are normal
How did we get this way
Why drag this out
It gets harder each day
We scream, we shout
Yet for us I still pray.
Used to be younger.
Used to be much happier.
Used to be and live.
People will use you.
Till there's nothing left of use.
Then just walk away.
For the greater good
You sacrificed your values
Your soul now vacant
My veil you lift up.
You look deeply in my eyes.
Not one second thought.

Homeless veteran on the street
Trying to make ends meet
A struggle every day
For little or no pay
The VA feels like a sham
Why don't we give a ****
He tries to take things in stride
Losing hope, dignity and pride
One of the richest countries in the world
Who pledge allegiance to a flag unfurled
Can't lend a helping hand
To those who fought in a foreign land.
Homeless vets can see
The home of the brave and free
Turned its back on thee.
Don't misunderstand
We'll agree to disagree
Viewpoints right or wrong
Lynn Stillman Jun 29
Foot in mouth virus
It's caught by saying dumb things
It's drug resistant.
Those that have seen us
And the distance between us
Wedding vows they heard
Say we were always on course
For the breakup that occured.
You're afraid to show,
your deepest condolences.
Your soft underside
Vulnerable like,
your skin before a sunburn.
You might just get burned
Questions fill my mind
Where did we go wrong
We had plans for the future
We had our own song
Days are long and empty
Nights thinking just of you
I won't run away and hide
But just what can I do?
You promised me forever
Into the sunset we would walk
Now I fear it was all a game
All a bunch of talk
Yet I still yearn for you
And the good times that we had
When I think back in time,
things were not that bad
So I'll wait by the window
For any trace of you
And for you to dry my tears
Say our love is true.
In my shoes you've walked
What you want me to believe
Your soles barely scuffed.
Lynn Stillman Jun 23
Does anyone else
Build walls to keep the world out
Or is it just me
Lynn Stillman Jun 21
Need to free myself
To break through these walls I've built
Time has thickened them.
War
Lynn Stillman Jun 25
War
My thoughts have waged war
and they take no prisoners.
Will be no detente.
Lynn Stillman Jun 30
I'd bet anything
If our leaders had to fight
Wars would not exist.
