I'm watching TV
Like in any other day

I used to go religiously
To church and Sunday school
But I was young then

Now I worship in my own home
In a tee shirt and blue jeans
And say grace over a dinner
Of hot dogs and baked beans.

You lost your values.
When you stopped valuing life.
Changing core beliefs.

Nights can be my enemy
I don't sleep that well
A curse with little benefit
It can be a living hell
My mind it won't take a rest
Always poking me awake
Would not think that possible
With all the pills I take.
Some actually for sleep
All legal and prescribed
Some for other maladies,
I have not described
The real cure is tried and true
And legal in my state
Yet not in my facility
The rules they can dictate.
I guess you know the cure I mean
I've given you a clue
The munchies are a part of it
But that is nothing new.

My heart's door unlocked
You kicked it in anyway
You had the key.

I become stronger
when I am at my weakest point,
faith stretched and tested
It is like building new muscle.
Like they say no pain, no gain.

Reinvented me
Went back to the drawing board
And set it afire.

Love was nearing the rocks
It had set sail years ago
Map old and yellowed

As storms of distrust moved in.

My shadow scares me
It follows and mimics me

I am lost at sea
Navigation system down
I must use the stars

Guiding me back to sunlight

The youth of today
Will do well and be okay
Stay above the fray.

I was on a roll.
My phones applications set,
dropped in toilet bowl.

In my shoes you've walked

Your soles barely scuffed.

Can't figure out
Is my cat plotting my death?
Or out of catnip

I wish I could fly.
Like the birds flock in the sky.
Like the day I die.

You think I don't see
I do notice your glances
Ashame, not at me.

My mind is cluttered
Second hand, hand me down thoughts,
sold at a yard sale.

Wherever you are,
there's a warm and happy home
With all the comforts.

I should know by now.
I cry, you walk out the door,

Undoes damage done.

Sadness claws and rips,
