Raphael Mar 4
What did they sing about in ancient days?
What did they make sure in their song then to say?
Was there anger and joy inextricably linked,
And did the stars of music stay behind,
Locked away from adoring fans in windows tinted?

Did they sing of love, of valor, of war,
Or songs of war, deeds of kings that came before?
Songs of before, songs of time before—forgotten.
Can we consider it an epoch forever gone?

Did they compose sweetly mournful dirges
For brides and grooms uniformly killed in love dances?
Can we travel back in time and be in those songs,
Where more melodies  than hollow words shone?

Do they, perchance, see beyond to our time,
And maybe sing of you and me and our devices
