Immortality
I gave my light,
soft and true,
but hands that took
just let it bruise.

A hand once open,
now worn and sore,
kindness bent
became the floor.
A very strange thing happened. There is a lady in HP, I liked all 16 of her poems because I loved the way they were written.
Alas, she blocked me, thinking I was spam..... lol.
I don’t know whether to laugh or be sad.....😅
When my love swears that she is made of truth
I do believe her, though I know she lies,
That she might think me some untutored youth,
Unlearnèd in the world’s false subtleties.
Thus vainly thinking that she thinks me young,
Although she knows my days are past the best,
Simply I credit her false-speaking tongue;
On both sides thus is simple truth suppressed.
But wherefore says she not she is unjust?
And wherefore say not I that I am old?
O, love’s best habit is in seeming trust,
And age in love, loves not to have years told.
    Therefore I lie with her, and she with me,
    And in our faults by lies we flattered be.
That you were once unkind befriends me now,
And for that sorrow, which I then did feel,
Needs must I under my transgression bow,
Unless my nerves were brass or hammered steel.
For if you were by my unkindness shaken
As I by yours, y’have passed a hell of time,
And I, a tyrant, have no leisure taken
To weigh how once I suffered in your crime.
O, that our night of woe might have remembered
My deepest sense how hard true sorrow hits,
And soon to you, as you to me then, tendered
The humble salve which wounded bosoms fits!
    But that your trespass now becomes a fee;
    Mine ransoms yours, and yours must ransom me.
O, call not me to justify the wrong
That thy unkindness lays upon my heart
Wound me not with thine eye but with thy tongue;
Use power with power, and slay me not by art.
Tell me thou lov’st elsewhere, but in my sight,
Dear heart forbear to glance thine eye aside;
What need’st thou wound with cunning when thy might
Is more than my o’erpressed defence can bide?
Let me excuse thee: “Ah, my love well knows,
Her pretty looks have been mine enemies,
And therefore from my face she turns my foes,
That they elsewhere might dart their injuries.”
    Yet do not so; but since I am near slain,
    **** me outright with looks and rid my pain.

To yearn is to suffer
A burden of desperate comfort
The gasps of air your lungs cling to when

trying

not

to

drown
Thoughts on attachment

A calming stretch of existence
Spiralled into an abyss of discomfort
Burnt out by the joy of realisation
Eyes dancing on the horizon
Maybe we are Orphic
Two fleeting souls
Craving the familiarity of scabs between our teeth

What are you doing to me ?
