I walked past the park
And saw the children at play
And tried to remember
What my mother used to say
And I thought of the times
I held my babes in my arms
And I tried to remember
And it set off alarms
For our children are precious
A gift from above
And they need to be raised
With kind, compassionate love
How can our young beings
Take over this world
If all they’ve been taught
Is a hidden dreamworld
The truth we should teach them
What made us be strong
We need to teach them
The right from the wrong
To respect other people
And see them as same
For if wars do continue
It will be the end of this game
So teach your children courage
And strength and true love
And live the lessons well
And hate, please get rid of
Show them that hiding
Won’t bare well for their future
Shine bright in your real self
And don’t be a moocher
Leave the world in a better state
Then how you found it
Make your enemies your friends
Authentic self not hypocrite
For people see through
When you’re not being your self
People know when you’re lying
Shine through, personality wealth
And share all your gifts
With the children you know
And show them the way
Teach them how so they grow
Into the future of this world
Which is changing so fast
Let’s make the future different
Than our soiled, tumulted past

When you say,’ I know’
What you’re really saying is
That you have no interest
In finding out
What you don’t
Know
A wise woman once told me
That when you say, ‘ I know’
You are closing all doors
To future learning
Everyone, yes everyone
Has something to teach us
If we can just
Open our ears
Our heart
And our mind
To understanding
That
We don’t know
Everything

Our body truly is a gift
Given from above
Without it we’d be stuck in place
And would find it hard to love
We need to keep this body of ours
In shape and feeling healthy
We need to eat well and exercise
In order to feel wealthy
Sometimes we may feel tired
And not feel like moving so
We need to push right past that block
Allow our energy to flow
We need to keep on wanting health
Our body is so keen
We need to feel we’re worthy
And feel good about being seen
We also need to exercise mind
And our soul shouldn’t be forgotten
Eat well, exercise and meditate
So we aren’t feeling rotten
If we bring our mind, body and soul
Into alignment, into balance
We’ll know we’ve done all we can do
Not fallen into nonchalance
So keep in mind these simple words
Look good, feel good, be good
And do whatever you can do
As you already know you should

When I think of poetry
I think of some words
That tend to give picture
To thoughts
I think of the ways
To express all our dreams
It’s just like the game
Dot to dot
We begin with one word
Or a phrase we think of
And try to expand
What we see
We think of the rhymes
And the cadence of voice
Bringing colour
To all that we be
But some in this group
Seem to think that a word
Or two is enough as a dome
I don’t understand how
A daily expression
Can be justifiably
Thought of as poem
There are many different kinds
Of poetry expression
Some rhyme
Others just chain of thought
There should be some forethought
Some real inspiration
Put into this game
That we’ve bought
I would like to think that
Our poets out there
Can truly express
What they see
So please take the time
To make poetry your aim
Give thought to the process
That be
Bring us all to tears
And great jubilation
Speak out
Use the words now at hand
Poetry is our expression
Of life as we see it
Use words well
Speak out to the land

It’s time to let go of
Resentment and vengeance
It’s time to make intention of change
We need to voluntarily let go of our thoughts
And stop thinking that things are so strange
We think we are victims of other people’s thoughts
And we allow ourselves to let go
Of who we are truly and not what others see
And these changes can be very slow
As long as we believe that we are in the right
And others are truly at fault
We can’t see the whole, need to change what we think
In order to create a gestalt
When we’re feeling offended or locked in our guilt
When our anger becomes all we are
We need to let go of our weird expectations
We need to let go of the bar
For life flashes by in the blink of an eye
And before you know it, we are gone
We need to let bygones be bygones at last
In order to bring in a new dawn
So let go of negative thoughts which keep us at bay
And let your true light shine right through
If you want to live a truly happy life
You need to be true, to you

You know we’re not the only ones
Who have a need today
There are some who go days hungry
And have no place to stay
There are some who wander across the land
Looking for food and space
There are some who don’t know where to live
Who look for aid and Grace
There are some who don’t know what to do
To make the hurt go away
There are some who reach out with empty hands
Who have never had a chance to pray
So those of you who know their place
Who’s bellies are full and  hearts embrace
Reach out to those who know not what
Reach out and help from heart and gut
Remember that in this Earth of ours
One shouldn’t be alone or left to starve
Reach out and help reach out with heart
Reach out and give right from the start
And know that you were never alone
In giving you have now reached out and grown

The time has come for all good  men
And women, to take a stand
To speak their truth and jest their love
And passion across the land
We need a voice that should be heard
By people far and wide
The inner cry of higher knowing
The words from deep inside
Let’s find a place where people care
Where truth is held up high
Deceit gets buried and lies are gone
Let’s all reach for the sky
For we are more than most will live
We hide when we should shine
Let’s raise our voices in unison
Reach out as one divine
