As you clink your glasses of whiskey or beer,

Celebrate; forgetting our fears, leaving aside the tears.

As we celebrate this Navroze, let us for the future gear;

For a day, leave aside the extinction fear;

And hope, there will be of happiness, many years.

May the community survive for thousands of years.

May there be good luck, health, wealth n cheer.

May this Navroze bring many Bawajis n Maijis near.

Lots of good news may we soooooon hear;

Let Homi tell, "Hilla, come near, my dear"

And announce Hoshi's arrival in the subsequent year.

Remember we must, "united we stand; inspite of us being queer".

Kurush  Mama, gifted a cute little baby to Shez, that's you , my bundle of joy.

For me it was a promotion big, when in my arms I received the precious most toy.

Every one came to visit you immediately, long past mid night; this cute baby boy.

Rati Mami, was with me through out,  (you were born at  1.25 am  early morn).

Nurgesh Aunty on a wheelchair; n Nivi Mami came straight from a  party, when you were born.

All the Motashaws visited you at 3 am, in silence,  no music, just the car horn.

Delzu dolly, Burzee  Mama just to have a peek, even said, your siblings they were.  

Mami, Mama were  ever so helpful; n Navaz Mami,  cuddled you n you just loved her.

Wonderful it would be if  bless you could, your revered great grandparents Keki n Jer.

May  Ahura bless you with His blessings choicest n  all our dear departed ones too.

AN OWL

He was once strong, bright, young and agile.

Today feels he old, easily tired, sad n fragile.

People mock at him, calling him senile.

Feels he like an old owl now, who can't fly a mile.

Nature has her ways misterious even weird sometimes.

Impaired sight, hearing, smell n activities all slowdown many times.

In youth, he was a champ, an expert, who won many a race.

An athelete once upon a time; now   cannot  climb a staircase.

An old debilitated owl he is now; no more a cash cow.

Awaiting he is his turn to go up, anytime now.

Death comes to each of us, sparing none, to one n all

OH TO BE IN CALCUTTA.....OH NO, KOLKATA...

Here, noisy street protests often are seen.
Time plenty, people have; to scream n create a din.

Traffic unruly and often chaotic is,
Parking is a nightmare, that doesn't cease.

The buildings here, grand and stately were.
Today dilapidated and in a pathetic condition are;

"London bridge is falling down", goes an old old song.
But here they actually fall. There is something very wrong.

From superiority complex, suffer the Bongs;
Because, above all they are, in music n songs.

In speaking, often very loud they are;
You actually can hear them from far.

Educated, well- read , in literature;
proud they are of their rich Bengali culture.

English, many know; but their accent, "Baba re baba" !
"O" soft, is used, loudly as"Au", tauba-tauba !

A **** carries a lil Bengal, goes wherever he;
This abroad, very easily and often you see.

THE LOST HEART

Of his life, she was never a significant part;

But for her, he was everything; he was  her own heart.

For her heart, now did not to her belong;

Sadly this bitter truth, she knew all along.

Now doesn't know she, how to him forget;

There's nothing left but loneliness, pain n regret.

To forget him, she tries hard, consciously with all her might.

Between her head and heart there is a constant fight.

Realizes she sadly, how can live one; without a heart.

Knows she well, she has lost it to him, who doesn't hold her heart.

A delimma she faces, what to do with her life rest !!

I too can't help her, knowing well, life is a tough test.

Save the ordinary man

Please save the ordinary man who with taxes is overburdened.

Firstly he receives only two thirds of his salary earned.

House rent/loans, medical insurance, LIC, school fees and more;

Very long indeed is this poor overburdened man's score.

As if this enough is not, GST on every thing he buys, he pays.

Banks reduced have interest rates on his FD; so, always worried he stays.

Social n cultural functions further worry him; he is really puzzled

By now the overburdened man's hobbies and dreams into thin air have fizzled.

Life he finds is a big curse, these  taxes make it even worse.

The poor man dreads to get treated as entering hospitals is a curse.

Lord, what can an ordinary mortal do, if he wishes to honest remain ?

The tax structure drives him, pushes him,  to become insane.

समय की धारा, सदियों से बस बहती जाए;

मानव न उसे रोक सके, न थाम सके;

न वोह उसे मोड़ सके, न अंजाम दे सके ;

समय की धारा, न किसी के लिए रुकी है ,

न वोह कभी किसी के लिए रुकेगी ।

पर मन चाहता है सुख की धारा लंबी बहे

और दुख की नदी, जल्द से जल्द, चलती बने ।

उमर कटती रहे, घटती रहे, पर समय की धारा;

यह नदी सदा बहती रहे, मुड़के आए न दुबारा ।

इसी लिए, तु, हे मानव, समय के साथ;

बहना सीख, चला अपने पांव और हाथ।

समय होता है बड़ा किम्मती, जैसे एक मोती

हे मानव, जल्द से जल्द जला ले मनमंदिर में ज्योति ।

Of no one's misery, be ever I should, a cause.

May I, about this deeply think, taking a pause.

Lord kind, happiness unto others, through me spread.

At least an infectious smile I can give, if I offer cannot bread.

A BROKEN SPINE

There was so much happiness, though the income was less

The house was a home; sometimes clean sometimes in a mess

Those were the days when the middle class didn't pay so much cess.

And of course, with gadgets n luxuries we were not so obsessed.

Income tax, and GST have broken his back; he is harassed

Education good has almost bent his spine; he is over stressed

Good medical services, premiums are beyond his reach;  

Choose he has to between bankruptcy n cure; he may scream n screech !!

The man wishes for Pearls; but all he gets is just sand at a beach.

Do we really care for our great religion ?
Please introspect, reaching your inner most region.

Think deeply about the consequences, that will be ensuing .

O young ones, to our great ancestors, owe we a lot.
In these materialistic webs please don't get caught.

Come forward to preserve our dear religion n it's tenets.
Work hard to it revive; n protect it's valuable assets.

TALDI THE TIGER

Far far away, for a Safari, on a hot humid day,

Frehan n Zoish to Sunderbans went with their family, to stay.

After a cruise n a drive rough, finally they arrived at the bay.

After a good night's sleep, got up excited and fresh they.

Soon for a stroll around their villa, they  prepared to go, that day;

Suddenly caught their attention, a huge big stack of hay.

Ran there quickly they, and with the hay, began to wildly play.

To their great surprise, found a strange looking cat they.

Began playing with it n the cat soon followed them, with them to play.

An attendant saw, n quickly cuddled them, protecting them, to their villa all the way.

Brought them back to the safety of their cottage, so to say.

Their new-found friend,  also  followed them all the way.

The man, frightened, tried he hard to shoo it away.

But the lil cat, now their friend, in no way could be kept at bay.

Then said the man, " it's a tiger cub";so  excitedly named it "TALDI" they.

Taldi was furry n cute, lapped up it the milk, to the drop last, all the way.

When back came the family, danced the kids, around Taldi, happy n gay.

Shocked were Shez n Phil, to see the kids, with Taldi, so gleeful at play.

A ranger was called in, who eventually came, to take Taldi away.

Cried the kids bitterly, they just wouldn't let Taldi go away.

The ranger said,  "thanks for saving Taldi, but for you, soon dead he would lay."

Forlorn n sad were all of them, to see their darling Taldi, being taken away.

Felicitated the kids were, for saving an endangered species, a tiger; in a big way.

Every Sunday, visited Taldi they, at the zoo, n for his survival, they did pray.

Grew up Taldi, strong n healthy; happy it was, to see them, though it couldn't so say.

Lasted this beautiful, warm friendship, a long way; till Taldi to the forest was taken away.

LET'S NOT BLOW OUT BIRTHDAY CANDLES, even though it's a tradition, pretty old.

All Aryans, fire respect and it consider holy, worthy of reverence; since ages, this we are told

I  too have done it for years as a child, but since last few years, I  have this decision taken bold.

Indeed, very intoxicating you are, profusely pouring out unconditional love onto us;

લીલી છમ ચુંન્ડી મારી ફાડીને ચિરી નાખી, જેના ઉપર હતા રંગ બે રંગી પુષ્પો અનેક

શણગારો મારા કાઢી નાખી, બોડી બામની જેવી કરી નાખી, કાપી નાખી બાહ મારી એકે એક

વેરણ છેરણ થઈ ગયું બધું, વિરાન કરી નાખ્યું જીવન હર્યું ભર્યું , સાંભળીયા નહીં મારા ચિત્કાર

હવે બચી છે કેવળ છબી પહેલાની, બનાવી હતી એને પ્રેમથી; હતો કોઈ મારો સાચો એ કલાકાર

આજે જ્યાં ઘિંચ વણ હતું, ત્યાં છે રેતીના રણ, ફળ, ફૂલ, પંખેરુંને પણ કરિયા માનવીએ બેઘર

એક નવોઢાને બનાવી દીધી માનવીઓએ મળીને, એક રસ હિન વિધવા, મારી ખંજર

OUR MASSIVE FAILURE

Sad it is, that hardly a person poor, who is innocent, justice gets

Normally he or she dejectedly goes back with a tearful face, all wet

Even gone is the money, they have taken at high interest, as debt.

Rotten has become this  system divine, with false wittnesses easily, all set

Dead is the voice of conscience, of most of our advocates; as on money, the rich bet.

Apt it is, that the so called Goddess of justice, blind folded is; no visibility she does get

Sadly she is deaf n blind to the plea of the innocent victims, who entangled get

Be it this miserably failed legal system, or even in daily life; justice to the innocent is hardly met.

Prays "Anar" to You Ahura, don't an innocent man's faith in your goodness die; please don't this forget.

અગ્નિ વર્ષા

માનવની મૂર્ખતાને લીધે, આગ વરસાવી રહ્યું છે ગગન

પોતાના સ્વાર્થ માટે, લોભ, લાલચ માટે, એને ઉજાડ્યું આ સોહામણું ચમન


મૂર્ખ માનવે જો સાચવી હતે લીલોતરી, તો એને આજે દઝાડતે નહીં, આં અગન

શા કાજ, આટલું સ્વાર્થી અને ચંચળ બનાવ્યું છે ઓ દાતા તેં, આં માનવ મન ?

પોતાનો ફાયદો થાય જ્યાં, ત્યાં માનવ ભૂલી જાય છે, ધરતીને સાચવવાનું, તને દીધેલું વચન

પણ ભગવંત, દાઝે છે ગરીબના પગો, એને તો આપજે થોડી ઠંડક, ભલે હોય એ ક્ષણ બે  ક્ષણ !

અમને આપજે સદ બુદ્ધિ, વાવીએ ઝાડો અસંખ્ય; કોઈ એક વાવે, તો કોઈ ડઝન બે ડઝન.

प्यासी धरती करे पुकार

धूपमें तप के हो गई हूं मैं, जलता हुआ अंगार; कहे बिचारि यह धरा

चाहिए अब मुझे ठंडी ठंडी बौछार, और श्रृंगार सुंदर और हरा

नदियाँ हो रही है मेरी खाली, और सागर  पानी से खूब है उभरा

सालभरकी प्यास बुझाने मेघराजको मैंने है, किया पुकार

आकाशको की है मिन्नतें हज़ार, जी भरके खोल दे आज तेरे द्वार

जी भर के मुझपे बरसना आज, सुन ले, इस धरतिने है तुझे पुकारा

ऐ हवा, लाना तू  बदरीयां काली, ओ बदरी बरसा जा जल की धारा

आत्मा है मेरी प्यासी, तृप्त कर दे तू मुझे आज, कर दे मुझे हरा, ओ मेरे यारा

झूम झूमके बरस, प्यासी धरती आज करती है तुझे अंतरमनसे पुकार

बरसना होगा अब तुझे, तन मन है मेरा प्यासा, निभाना होगा तुझे वादा-ए- प्यार

NAVROZE  MUBARAK TO ALL OF YOU

HERE COMES SPRING

Ah!! beautiful new leaves I see and a few buds too; spring is here !!!

Snow will soon start melting,  colourful flowers will bring in cheer !!!

When comes  JAMSHEDI NAVROZE, out come glasses of wine and beer;

Along side come,  Pullav- daar, patrani machchhi,  cutlets n kababs my dear

Wine, dine, dance n drama there will be all; meet will relatives from far n near !

Amidst these activities many,  will we have time to an Agiyari visit n pray; this I fear !!

Thank Ahura let us all, for the bounties granted n gear up for the coming year.

On a train journey you are,  passing through different terrains

Through  Sunshine and shadows, through fog, mist or rains

Fields, jungles, bridges over rivers, n caves n tunnels in the mountains

Through jungles deep n dense, or through orchards or gardens with fountains

The train sometimes has to pass through  deserts dry n burning hot

In our lives too, face we circumstances varied n in difficulties get caught

Scared do not get, my little heart; with anxiety do not like a butterfly flutter

Or whilst challenges facing, with nervousness do not stutter;

Ruthless, selfish and indifferent this world is, n always shall be so

But till your journey lasts n that destination final comes, please don't feel low

Remember Anar, once you are on board the train, once begins your journey of life;

Constant stress and strain face you
will have to; learn Anar, to deal with strife.
