Lost in the Sea
Kate Phipps Feb 2018
Lost in the sea of desperation
I am stuck in an existence of hopelessness
While strong brackish winds feed upon my naked skin,
My mind wanders to find relief
From these tremulous waves that pummel my back

They call from the deep, from the dark
Taunting and ridiculing
Pulling on the delicate strings that keep me alive
I struggle to keep my head over contentious water
There is no one to hear my call of distress

The tide rolls in without hesitation
It’s strong currents knock me down in a New York minute
Feeble knees try and support the weight which is upon my shoulders
It crushes and contriturates the only feelings left in me
The world beats me, the world has no care
