You are as enigmatic
As a scintillating
Night sky
For a mere prosaic bird
Like me
No matter how high
I try to fly
Using every ounce
Of my might
I cannot hope
To touch your
Gleaming stars
For even a momentary
Breath of time
I can only stare
At your
breathtaking visage
Fixatedly
With a voiceless
And hopeless longing
Bruising my insides
Before i stumble down
Faraway from the
Scenic landscape
Of your onyx eyes

You were the anti-glow.
A ball of soot, sunk
in pools of polyester.

You dented the lines of your
encyclopedia - ingested
images of the panther, the puma

and sat somewhere between
black ant and black bear
hibernating under towels of burnt tulle.

You fell off pastel lines
into charcoal smudge,
undersaturated, a pen-test-scribble,

a parachute in negative space
to protect your smoke-wisped skull.
when i was a small child, i wore black to a ballet class.

Let me grow young
I want to remember what it’s like
To find the playfulness
I’d hide,
To find the fullness
In my life.
To count to one two nine six five.

Let me grow young
I want to jump on trampolines
And buy all flavours of ice-creams
To imagine what it’s like to fly
When lava’s on my floors at night.

Let me grow young
Don’t let me forget what I have done,
Don’t let me grow cold to the fun
Or stop me singing songs I’ve sung.

Let me grow young.
Let me keep all my silly sides,
Remind myself at least I tried
To work beside the adult kids
For I don’t know how many years.

Let me grow young.
Being a grown up is just dumb.

Zero Nine
My human body
              stings of age
                     ache and pain
My human bone
              breaks
My human strength
              decays

My human form
              twists, deforms
                     courts mirrors
My anxious nerves
              burn
My fragile heart
              stops

Make my limb
Make my life long
Take my parts
Make me evolve

make my limb

                                                                                     make my life long

make my heart

                                              beat, eternal

I long for painlessness
Bless this beautiful ship I control,
but I would trade the ephemeral
  flesh, bone, blood and marrow
to the first back alley broker
of cheap plastics I meet
get me out of here, quick.

Put on my pants
Put on a show
Fake a smile
No one will know

Don't show weakness
Fake my emotions
Bury my anxiety
Just go with the motions

I gotta play fast
Need to sing out of tune
Because don't you know

you did not smash a guitar to
splinterings: That Night,
there weren’t enough iiiiii

watching:

six cigarettes later,
all packed,
tossed back,

....you meandered off...
a long pause...

LOST CAUSE

I too patiently waited out the fight
I too patiently weighed out the fight
I too patiently way out did the fight

weighted, I, too,
impatiently,
way out,
-wait-

FIGHT

If you are a demon
then send me to Hell
If you are a witch
then take me with your spell

If you are a drug
Then in my vein inject
If you’re a psychosis
Let my life be wrecked

If choosing to stay
Then a price must be paid
Sign a contract in blood
I'm forever your slave

You're heartless and cold
The Devil, you might be
Yours to torture forever
Just don't ever leave
To the deepest of pits
You just take me and throw
From the world I am absent
So far down below
Other people prefer
To Hell travel than know
But for me I'd give all
Please just don't ever go

Thank you CJ for your poetic comment that inspired me to write this additional epilogue  =^)
