She was a bee,
Her words,like nectar pouring
from her lips,
Her sting was worst.

We had black tea,
Because we could not afford milk,
We could only have one meal a day,
The rice, chapattis, curry and pickles all mixed together so it would be enough for seven mouths.
Now, I see people  have black or green tea and one healthy meal,
Either they are on diet or to maintain health.

I ate hot meals,
I brushed my teeth day and night,
I spent long hours on the mobile
with friends,
I wore well laundered clothings,
Not a single crease or a stain on them,
Before motherhood.
My home was ***** and span,
No stumbling on scattered toys,
No ***** window panes,
No tiny hands holding my skirts,
No one  eagerly waiting for me on the doorsteps,
No spits,pukes, pees or poos to clean,
No teared  eyes to wipe,
No tiny bundle to hold in my arms,
Getting love,warmth and satisfaction in return,
Before motherhood.
I was in control of myself,
Of my mind and thoughts,
Caretaker of my own body,
Spending hours to enhance my beauty,
To maintain grace and elegance,
Before motherhood.
Now I am a mum,
I don't mind if my hair is disheveled,
My house is a bit messy,
I am exhausted,
For the reward of a hug, a kiss
and those endearing words,"I
love you mum,you are the bestest." completes me.

Ask yourself,
After death where are you going.

Yesterday I gave a beggar a plate full of rice,chappati and a bowl of curry.
The next day  the smarty came and handed me a book called
"How to Cook."

Last Sunday my friends and I decided to go and see a movie,
We were at the Bus Stop when a beggar passed asking  pitifully for alms,
We and others at the stop all gave him money as we thought fit,
While we waited for the bus to come,
He called a taxi and went away.

Dad asked me to be good and behave,
I am much better than those
in my imagination  that was fed by fairy and folk tales.......
Tarzan ran naked in the jungle,
At least I am dressed.
Cinderella  came home after midnight,
I have curfew hours till eight p.m
Snow white lived with seven strange men,
I am allowed night out once in a while- only girls.
Pinocchio  told lies,
If I do I am grounded with no pocket money.
Goldilocks finished the baby bear's porridge without asking,
Tried once, went to bed without dinner.
Alladin was a thief,
Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos.
Batman drove 200 miles per hour,
All of them were heroes leading
exciting lives,
And If I play pranks I am told to behave!
Too much good behaviour and respect will end up me being afraid to edge on the highway.

Read the Holy Book and your heart will blossom,
Pray everyday and your face will enlighten,
Do good deeds and your life will be blessed,
Learn and teach to GIVE.

Believe  it or not,
I come from a conservative Islamic family,
My Life is based on Islamic principles,
But,I don't feel caged,
In fact, I feel at peace,calm and safe.
Home is where you live,
Home life is on the principles of Faith in Allah,
And its two arms patience and gratitude to HIM.
Trust, kindness and above all respect for each other is a must,
A visitor who knocks on your door is as good as an angel,
He should be greeted and treated with courtesy,
Greetings create a bond in the name of Allah,
Parents are our peers and given utmost respect,
We never speak out of context to them.
Breakfast,lunch and dinner is a family affair,
We all sit on the floor in a circle with a big aluminium thaal (plate) in the middle,
And partake our portion of food from there,
Before eating we begin with Bismillah and a pinch of salt.
Women cover their heads all the time with a dupatta,
When they go out they wear a hijab.
Women are prohibited to talk loudly but some do,
What goes behind close doors between a husband and wife should remain between them,
Not to wash the ***** linens in public.
Music is not allowed in islam but most of us do,
A Muslim must pay part of his earnings as zakat (charity).
From birth till death our lives depend on the sound advise of our Spritual Leader,
I am delighted I have somebody to guide me,
He makes sure each and every community member is provided with lunch,
So no one goes to sleep hungry,
Most of all festivals are community based gatherings so no one is alone,
I am the lucky one,not imprisoned.

I was a normal child,
With mild temperament, not wild,
Good in sports,loved to dance and sing,
Above average results I brought,
The teachers were happy with me being a high honour student,
My parents should be proud, who wouldn't,
But not they,
Only complaints everyday,
For them the grass on the other side was greener,
My cousin's and neighbour's children were much better.
It even extended to my way of living,
That hurt most of my being
My existence,
Was I an object d'art or a puppet  in their presence,
Somebody they yearned me to be,
Somebody they could not be.
To be somebody extraordinary
I cannot be their mould ,
My creator has created me perfect,
The way I want  to be
I am content to be me.
I hope they realise their mistake,
Better for our sake,
I am not their heirloom or property,
I am me and I have come with my own destiny.
