The whole night,
The one who had faith in HIM
slept the whole night.

I met you,
Your coming in my life was a miracle,
And faith guided me towards you
through darkness.
Because of my faith I took the first steps towards you without noticing the whole staircase,

Dad and you,

Me and little brother,

Granny with her walking sticks,

Grandpa with his wobbly gait,
Nine, ten,
And a big fat family hen.

Before T.V. mobiles and computers,
And sometimes no electricity,
After a day's hard work people retired early,
Bonded more,
The outcome was large families,
My grandparents had twenty one sons.
I grew up in one such extended family.
A large loving caring close knit family,
When everything is a havoc in my life,
My family is there for me without flinching.
We never had the need of outside friends,
Together us cousins went on picnics and swimming
Played in alleys marbles, cricket,
Climbed trees,
Went to each other's house,
Argued, fought ,
And even stopped talking to each other at times,
But in the end family is family.
Till today though we are distant apart,
When we meet the close bond is still there,
That also extends to third generation cousins.

Is homemade soup.
It keeps me calm,
Soothes me like a balm,
Reduces tension of the day,
Appeases my appetite for what is happening in some way.
Family relationship is savoury broth,
Holds a strong bond and growth.
Photos and videos,
Not to forget audios,
Are seasonings which enhance the taste,
Just some, only the best.
Gossips,jokes and sayings need time to simmer,
To reach full flavour.
Family moans and groans,
Are birthdays, death,sickness and new borns,
Raining with condolences and wishes,
Tangy, no preservatives.
Family members are garnish,
Quite a relish,
With active members as crusty croutons,
That promote sociability  and traditions.
Passive members are fresh herbs,
Rarely a comment,only few words,
But,are there to bring out the lovely aroma.

I keep all my poems hand written in writing books hoping after my death I would become famous maybe like Emily Dickinson.

Last Eid I became very sick,
And was admitted in ICU,
My son and daughter-in-law were there for me hands on,
After my release my son took me to their home,
And  as I got better I offered to help around the house,
My daughter-in-law just smiled and said,
For now for us is most important is you

God asked me if I wanted a Ferrari.
I smiled and humbly on my knees replied," At this age you want to give me a Ferrari.You know it is low and with my arthritis it will be difficult for me to get in.So my grandson will use it.He will drive around town with his friends leaving his studies.
This will be a problem for me and my son.So I will have to call on you again and again in my prayers to safe guard my grandson whom I love dearly.
Dear God you work in mysterious  ways. Its been ages my family has forgotten you, busy with our worldly matters.We have strayed from the righteous path I
promise to pray on time everyday, give to charity and never ever complaint of what I have not got.I have woken up to your ways. Please no Ferrari  for me,only your forgiveness. AMEN.
