Just a shred of truth.
What you bring to the table.
I am still hungry.
I
Flamboyán whispers,
wrapped gently by the nightfall
the coquí sings true.

II
Clouds become soft quilts,
dreams live curled in the branches
under a sky full of stars.

III
The breeze calls my name,
it smells of earth and heartbeat
my soul finds its rest.
I’ve always said I want to be buried underneath the sapling of a flamboyan tree, be reborn and live through storms and hurricanes as my leafs fall and regrow. I think it would be a blessing to be reborn.
Its skin streaked
with rain and soil,
bows beneath
just a few drops
of water
grateful for even
that small sip.
Its stem,
a little bent,
its face
still golden.
And in that
gesture,
I saw the
grace of
needing little
   but receiving fully.
I was lost in the dark of forest.
Once a beautiful place to be.
In the shadows of tall green trees.
I felt happy and peaceful under branches wide and strong.
Protecting me.

I often sang the song of lovers
while peeping at a warm sun.
At night I slept the sleep of dreamers
While moonlight kissed me on my cheeks.

During day I kept on dancing
in arms of invisible tunes.
Of a breeze so soft like silk.
My colors blooming
pastel shades, bright and smiling too.
Caressing your eyes, comforting you.

Now it’s another story.
I’m so sad, can’t even speak.
My beautiful forest, gone.
Fires and sour rains took over.
And I,
just a little wildflower,
once happy but now I weep.
