I was five years old,
I played with babies,
I splashed in puddles,
That made them laugh,
I was happy.
When I started working I played cricket and
marbles with ten years old in our compound,
And when they fought,
Their mothers came  to interfere ,
I would quietly slip away.
And enjoy their verbal arguments from my window.
When my siblings got married and had their first child,
I would happily agree to baby sit for them instead of going to Masjid (mosque),
They would give me lots of instructions,
I listened from one ear and took out from the  other,
Told them to scoot and if they heard cries and turned behind they would become stones like in the fairy tale,
I would plop down near the babies with a book and a bag of crisps,
Watched them coo,  gurgle and cry some,
After all  crying makes the lungs strong.
I love children,
And when I had my own,
I enjoyed them utmost,
My son was a newspaper,
He would just blurt out any gossip we had at home to visitors,
When he was in grade four while he was having dinner I sat with him,
And pretended I was taking him for a drive in a Mercedes which was the chair,
He wrote an  essay about it and the teacher put it on the board on Parent's Day.
It was embarrassing and hilarious.
Now my children are away I coach young children in the afternoon,
Cause I love having children around me.

At your reflection in the mirror,
Before finding faults in others.

In a day a poem to write makes me content,
In a day poems to read makes me happy,
In a day to go again and again to Hello poetry to see my poem is trending and read comments keeps me busy,
A day spent at Hello poetry makes me feel I am with people,
Like sitting on a roadside and seeing people come and go.
Thank you Hello poetry.

A new boy named Peter came to our school,
A son of a billionaire,
But simple, polite and good at studies,
He sat next to me and we sometimes shared notes.
One day he asked me to go to his place,
I declined as it was dad's birthday,
Instead I invited him to our home,
Eagerly he agreed.
We are a close relative family with my grandparents and an orphan cousin,
Mum and granny are great,
They shate a close bond.
Our home is never quiet,
Full of fun, laughter ,debates,
Arguments and differences,
And lots of love, hugs and kisses,
Granny and mum plops kisses on my cheeks,
And will do so till they pass away,
With frequent visits from friends,
Neighbours who come to borrow eggs, tea or sugar or pop in for a meal.
On weekends sometimes we have outdoor barbecues,
My friend was amazed at the love, warmth and banter we shared.
After that he mostly came to our place and became one of us,
He told my family once,
I  have a mansion, not a home,
I have a gorgeous woman full of herself,
Busy with parties, meetings and her philanthropic work to make an impact on society
Not a warm loving mother,
I have a billionaire tycoon who is mostly is  not at home,
Not a father who has time to play football,
To talk to them I need an appointment,
My grandparents too are high society people,
I am rich put poor,
Thirsting for strong family relations like yours,
I am happy I got you.

Is like cancer,
If you don't treat it immediately,
Like cancer cells it multiplies,
And becomes mal8gnant,
Eventually it d3stroys you.

My daughter's friend in masjid,
She greeted me ,
I asked her how she was,
And about her cute daughter,
She was triste for not visiting me,
And promised to do so.
Actually I don't blame her or her good intentions,
I blame time,
It flies on autopilot
Flick of a finger morning becomes night,
Monday zooms to Friday,
And presto!
It's  the end of the month,
It seems just the other day was the beginning of 2025,
And it's already middle of the year.

An apple a day,
Keeps the doctor away.
A dose of music a day,
Heals me
Clears my head,
Lifts my spirit,
Rejuvenates my soul,
My karaoke time in the shower
With soap in my eyes and sound of running water,
My notes don't  matter.
