Don't know whether you are up or down, life is spinning you round and round.
Nothing makes any sense and you begin to feel quite tense.
When you feel life has dealt you a ***** hand look to your journal and start to plan.
You  need a plan to turn around and help your feet back to the ground.
Don't wait too long for you will see when you begin to plan you begin to BE.
So grab that journal, start to write, let all your thoughts roam free.
Let  your dreams and desires run over the page and you will start to see; a plan emerge, a plan to set you free.
A plan of hope, emerging from the page, a plan to take you forward into a different age.
A plan of joy as you evolve into the person you always wanted to be.
A plan that changes and evolves with your thoughts and ideas.
Planning costs you nothing, planning is for free.
Use your journal wisely my friend and live life happily.

Happy journaling.
I love health, fitness, meditation, journalling etc

Inanimate objects high in the sky, silently they fly, silently passing you by

Elgantly built, some for speed but mostly built  to cover a need

A need to get from A To B as quickly, cheaply and efficiently

Transporting you from your life at home to another less familiar zone

Some of us like it hot and by the beach, tanning and surfing all day long

Some of us like to be out of reach, isolated in a small hut on a hill, hiking each day is our chosen thrill

Some of us choose a City Break, a short hop to another land with different vibes and different sounds

Some of us fly business class of course, they get the extra room and a pillow to aid your sleep

The majority fly economy stowing your bags at your feet

Whatever your choice its much the same aim, getting away for a break is your game.

You may choose Las Vegas, Florida or France, Iceland, New York or Jamaica, Singapore, Rome or Venice, the world is your oyster.

You may choose to climb a mountain, dive in deep seas, camp by a fire, go see a band, dance by candlelight on the sand.

All of these choices are yours to explore let the Plane whisk you away to these destinations and more.

Your imagination is endless so let your mind roam free, have courage, book your ticket,  choose your destiny
Simples, a plane flew quietly overhead whilst I was out walking lunchtime

Planetary alignment. 😊💫

"The planets are aligned tonight! It's called Planetary Alignment!" The weatherman says, proudly imparting his knowledge. I know what he is thinking: "Does anyone care?" 🤔😂

Tonight, after the sun has set, is the best time to see Jupiter, Pluto Venus, and Mercury. Together with Mars, Saturn, and the Moon in almost a perfect line and all visible to the human eye. 🔭✨

At just before sunset, we gather our grandchildren, Fletcher, who is five, Roman, who is eight, and Alfie, who is sixteen. My husband and I set out for the park, the younger children excited that it was turning dark. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🌅

We installed Sky Walk apps and ones that zoomed and set out with binoculars of various sizes.Excited and hoping for a few surprises. 📱🔍

Everyone gathered and looked to the sky. 🤩 We were stunned by Mercury and Venus, who seemed the closest to our naked eye. 😲❤️

Wow! With the addition of a monocle, we could see both planets clearly. The rings and craters that marked them individually 😲🌕

We took pictures, and everyone talked animatedly. Excited by what they had seen. 📸🗣️

Even our young teen was impressed he took the best picture too. Using his iPhone with a broken screen, he had no need for an app with Zoom. 👍📸😍

Thank you Mr Weatherman for making us see the universe through your eyes. This evening was simply one of the best🙏🌟✨
Planetary alignment was the talk of last week. Every weatherpeson, radio commentator, news reporter mentioned it. For a while it was bigger news than Trump! And we soaked it all in. I was pleased that all the grandchildren were aware and wanted to see it. A lovely, spur of the moment, evening with four of the best people.

At the top of a rocky hill
Overlooking Plymouth Sound sits a Fort big and round
Known to the locals as the Royal Citadel

The Fort protects Plymouth Sound and all the citizens that live
and work around.
Originally designed by Sir Francis Drake and funded by taxes on pilchards exported by sea.
With walls 70ft high and host to 113 guns, the Citadel protected Plymouth for over 300 years and was home to the naval military.

When I was young annual Military Tattoos were held
Every child in Plymouth seemed to attend transfixed by the smart men all in time, marching and playing their drums and pipes.

Now the Citadel proudly sits on display but sadly has no role today, no tattoos or music of the night displays.

By 2024 the Plymouth Citadel will be no more
Three hundred years of history will be replaced by housing much in need but sadly no longer will it have a military history

There is Poetry in everything we see
From the peaks of snow-covered mountains
To the depths of the deep blue sea

There is Poetry to be scribed by the tip of your pen
Descriptions of wondrous landscapes from Cornish Tors to Scottish Glens

There is Poetry to be scored from the heart
Take love, add a pinch of romance, that's a warm and snuggly place to start

There is Poetry to be slugged from the depth of a bottle
With darker colours that become stormy and sometimes appear mottled

There is Poetry to be found in every corner of the Globe
A story or Poem maybe of poverty, maybe of power, waiting to be told

The world needs Poets of every guise
Poets of Romance, Nature and those who are considered to be worldly-wise

There is Poetry to be pulled from deep within your soul
Dig deep, make writing Poetry your personal goal
just searching for inspiration today

Lying, sleeping on the couch.
Arms outstretched, he has no cares, tumbling blonde curly hair
A whirlwind by day, he is no slouch, for that I can truly vouch.

My grandson not yet turned two.
The apple of his grandads eye.
He will awake again in a few, so much to see and do.
Once awake he will run and fly our precious little butterfly.
My youngest grandson Roman

It kicks off tonight, super excited.
All of the wives are clearly delighted.
First game of the season Arsenal vs Leicester, for 90 minutes the heroes will battle.
The first three point to the winner  and top of the table.
And so it will go every weekend from Friday to Monday right through to next May.
We'll be accompanied on Saturdays  with MOTD, Gary, Alan and Gaby.
They'll discuss and advise on the game of the day, was the ref right did he give the game away.
Of course everyone has their favourite team, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea. Man City, Liverpool, Everton to name but a few, West Ham and West Bromwich Albion too.
Bets will be made, dream teams created, limbs tattooed, all appetites sated.
Old heroes bemoaned and overrated, records broken new heroes created.
At the end of the season about the 19th May Champions crowned, memories filed, holidays booked, we can all breathe a while.
English Premier League, game of champions

I want to write a poem, pretty as can be
Using words to paint a picture for everyone to see
I would throw in words of beauty, strength, loyalty, faith, and respect
Add in Fun, adventurous too now the picture is beginning to look a lot like you.
On the canvas, I would draw my heart, wrap the words around it, tie it with a big red bow.
Hand you the package marked handle with care
Treat me gently sweetheart and you can take me anywhere

Raincoats and Welly Boots.
Go together like
A pantomine tale and mother goose.

Raincoats and Welly Boots

Little girls and little boys;
playing in natures endless supply of toys.
Walking through puddles, almost knee deep.
Splashing in mud pools, mud covering their feet.

Raincoats and Welly Boots

Wearing Raincoat and Welly Boots
Splashing, laughing not a care in their world
Should be the entitlement of every boy and girl.

Raincoats and Welly Boots

For just 5 minutes
Discard your black shiny shoes and Italian suit
Put on your Raincoat and Welly Boots
Remember when once you were young
Splish, splash, splosh oh what fun

Raincoat and Welly Boots

How do you spend Rainy Days?
Does your mind fall into a foggy haze?
Do you go back to bed, snuggle under the duvet?
Does your partner make it a sweet duet?

Do you indulge yourself with a Hot chocolate, pile it high with marshmallows?
Sip it slowly, allow yourself to melt, mellow.

Do you settle down in front of the T. V.?
Watching reruns, making a little time for me?

OR

Do you embrace the rain on your face?
Put on your wellies, splash in puddles?
Not caring if your clothes get in a muddle.
Rejuvenating yourself with laughter?
Chasing rainbows and your happy ever after.

Make Rainy Days lots of fun.
Sunny Days follow and by their nature bring the Sun.

I wonder, what would it be like to be lost and alone?

To find myself in a foreign country, completely alone.

A frightened young child, unable to speak.
Acting uneasy, shy, embarrassed and meek.

Wishing for someone to become my friend.
Wishing this nightmare, l am caught up in, please, come to an end.

Not knowing what happened to my Mum and Dad.
Locking myself away, hiding my sad :(

I can't imagine how it would be.
If I lost my sister whilst crossing the big wide sea.

Apart from my family; No knowledge of their safety or demise.
Waiting for information from an adult considered sagely wise.

I imagine it would be horrible and the toughest of times.
And imagine this happening today, in peacetime.

This is happening every day, bombs being dropped on buildings and homes,  in cities far away.

Driving families to leave their homes and all they know.
Wearing down their shoes until all that is left is a very thin sole.

Walking over mountains, with all they possess in a small backpack.
Losing loved ones along the way but keeping going, staying on track.

Determined to find peace and a new homeland.
Make friends, play football, maybe join a brass band.

Its not much to ask when you are nine or ten
Just wanting a home, loving parents and maybe a best friend.

Reading a book today called The Boy at the back of the class by Onali, Q, Rauf.
I found it a heart warming read, aimed at children but you should definitely read it.  It is charming, funny and sad.  Written from a child of 9 ¾ perspective if what is right and what is wrong when a young boy is brought into school and told to sit at the back of the class.  All he needs is friends to start opening up about his troubles.

The residue of her desire was obvious to see
Her eyes glazed with adoration and lust
His eyes were dark and full of mistrust
She had loved and burned
Her love for him was not returned
Her desire will be pushed away, saved again for another day
Saved deep down where the residues of her other emotions can be found
This was a word prompt on another site

Sat alone in their room
Vulnerable child not yet groomed
On the computer with ***** men pretending to be young and their friend
The fake young person starts a chat
A little bit of this a little bit of that
Luring the vulnerable child falsely to a dare
Take your pants off and sit on the chair
Angle the camera between your thighs
As your reward I've got a surprise
The fake friend continues with the chat
A little bit of this and a little bit of that
The vulnerable child chats right back pleased to be making friends
Agrees to meet the very next day, in a car park a few miles away
No one knows about the meet, no one is aware
The vulnerable child is alone and about to find out their fake friend is really 48
For the vulnerable child it is too late, about to find out where lies their fate
Sadly this trend is growing far and wide.
Let's help our children to stay safe online.
Watching the Kyle files this evening it is always gripping tonight's was particularly so. I wrote this poem, we all need to be more alert and interested in what our children are doing when they spend so much time in their room and on the computer, stay safe, keep your children safe.
I've changed the ending as someone said it sounded as though I was blaming the child and that wasn't my intention

Late for dinner, once again, the dish is in the dog!
I thought my wife did the right thing, it looked an unappetising grey bog!

I missed my sons birthday, by just one day.
My wife let me know she wasn't happy in her own unique way.

I was late for our Wedding, only by an hour.
My Wifes Father had a face on him, really rather sour.

I'll be late for my own funeral, i'm feeling rather certain.
I will miss the note, when it is finally pinned to the back of that **** curtain.

I'm always running late and usually the wrong direction.
Always going against the flow, sometimes in a completely different section.

My Wife has acquired skills of personal detection
Over the years she has unearthed some embarrassing things
And therefore I find my name is put forth for Mayoral Election
Two weeks to go now  before i get my wings.

I predict my lateness to the ceremony to swear me in.
I guess i will just have to invest some public money in copious amounts of Gin.

Thank you for reading, please do not feel sorry.
I have to go I'm running late, this time down the pub for a curry.
A bit of fun, having just finished reading some John Betjeman poems, found myself writing this.
Hope you enjoy.

Running, searching, seeking, looking for that sign
The one that says your welcome, please come inside
The sign that says your wanted
The sign that says your mine

Running, searching, seeking looking for that sign
A red rose resting on piano keys
A man who has fallen to his knees
A man with love in his eyes

Running, searching, seeking looking for that sign
A gentle kiss on your lips
A hug to say everything is OK
A smile to hold you for a while

Running, searching, seeking, looking for that sign
The one that says your welcome, please come inside
The sign that says your wanted
The sign that says your mine

Running, searching, seeking looking for that sign
I found my sign upon the door
It said look inside if your looking for more
Go on be brave take a peep and you will forever be mine to keep

The Spanish and the English had been joined in matrimony with a seal of approval and instructions to Prince Philip he was not to try and rule.

In time a Heir would be born to his wife Queen Mary and then order would be restored, Queen Mary who was admired and adored died childless in 1558 leaving her sister as the Heir.

The relationship was a tentative one, holding on by a string, the English plundered Spanish boats and took all of their nice things.
They set their bounty before Her Majesty The Queen and duly she admired and asked for more to be brought to her, she was a greedy squire.

It didn't take long before King Philip of Spain did declare that we would fight the English and stop the robbing Privateers.

Then one day on Plymouth ***
Playing bowls one night, one of these Royal Privateers
Spied a fleet of Spanish ships and ran with all his might
To inform Her Majesty we were under attack
Her Majesty's orders given, we must of course fight back

The Spanish Fleet sailed past Plymouth and dropped anchor off Calais
Storms abrewed and vessels were lost
The Aramada ships scuttled away, returning back from where they had came
Francis Drake was a hero
Her Majesty The Queen was delighted and called him to the Palace where he got down on one knee and was duly knighted.
A little bit of local history

So young, so troubled, such a tragedy, such a waste
He came into the world blonde hair and blue eyes, one look and you were mesmerised
A young lad with the world at his feet, adventurous, would try anything new

Everyone wishes they had said no, then they wouldn't have had to say goodbye
Forever in our hearts, my darling nephew been gone 6 years and miss him every day

She's mine!, ive known from the start.
One look into her beautiful blue eyes, shoots an arrow straight to my heart.

She's mine! to love, hold and protect!
How do i get those two words from her, do i fall to the floor upon one knee, do i genuflect subtly?

She's mine! She said "i will"!
My heart is beating so fast, it's such a thrill.

She's mine! So why does my chest hurt and puff out wide?
When i walk down the street with this woman by my side.

She's mine! I'm waiting for the love of my life,
to walk down the aisle and say she'll be my wife.

She's mine! She said "i do"
Then i turn to her and say "i love you"!

She's mine! She turns to me and says "i'm yours"!
Now i'm just being picked up off the floor.

She's mine! And i don't even care,
people see me as a man grizzly bear.
This lady makes me want to be, the best version of being me.

I'm hers, she's mine, until the end of time.

                      SHE'S MINE!

Counting sheep,... 1, 2, 3
That doesn't work, try the Art of Zen
I can't draw with a Pen, not sure why I thought I could be an Artist of Zen
Back to counting Sheep,... 8,9,10
That doesn't work yet again
Got myself a new fangled watch that tracks your sleep
Tells me last night I slept 8hrs, 5 light and 3 deep
Tonight I'm going to turn out my phone at half past nine, run a bath, meditate maybe even drink some wine
I'll do anything legal to catch those zzzz's
They won't beat me He! He! He!

Come on peeps, do what they say!
Please slow down when driving in the rain.

Do not speed in the rain! Don't leave yourself open to aquaplane.

The car lies crumpled on the side, you are all crumpled on the inside!
Death looms at your door, all because of the Zest for more!

More Speed, More Haste, More Accidents, More Waste!

Waste of your lives that are no more, leaving your family destroyed and bereft.
Crying tears that will never subside, dull and aching on the inside.
Without you, they are living a life of make do,  learning to live life anew, a life of pain without you!

Wake Up, Slow Down, especially in the rain.
Don't let yourself be a victim of an aquaplane.
Nasty accident on the road this morning, really heavy rain, road very wet and slippery. The car was a wrangled mess. Thankfully the driver had a lucky escape and had no serious injuries and no other cars involved but it was due to lost control in the weather

Fall snow fall
Cover the ground in white as far as you can see
We don't get you very often but you are beautiful to see
Fall snow fall
Jackie Mead Mar 2018
It's been snowing here for over an hour, its not even laid a trace
Its wet outside and this time our country will not be disgraced, as everything halts for a drop of the white, for us in The UK it is not an annual sight
So much excitement usually exists when a little dusting of the white stuff makes our pavements glist
But for today we will not panic, nor make our way home early from work
Instead we will watch the snow falling around and be thankful that its not settling on the ground
That people will not be stranded in their cars far from home
That accidents will not happen on streets that are frozen with ice
That buses and trains will make their journey's to the end, reuniting families and best friends
Last time it snowed people were cut off, drifts of ten feet deep, this brought out the best in people who offered services to the elderly and housebound utilising their jeeps.
Today we may decide to stay in all day, keep safe and out of harms way, safely watching the snow fall to the ground making us breathless with its beauty but not bringing us to our knees
Taunting us with the promise of foot deep snow but knowing its just a tease
I like to sit and watch it fall but hope that it ends soon after all tonight is Games Night with my Grandson and Daughter as they take over the living room
We've got Pizza to make and Blue Rays to watch, Paddington 2 is in the queue, so just for today Snow please don't lay, just blow through.
It's unusual, i do love snow but we don't see it often, this year we've had it twice in a couple of weeks but it was already wet outside and the snow isn't laying, as my son and his wife are due to go out tonight and we are having the kids overnight and their auntie is meant to be coming around too for pizza it would be a shame if it got cancelled, especially as my grandson help me make the pizza dough this morning... but we will see what will be will be, as long as no one is hurt.

To ride a bike
To run wild and free
To play hopscotch and marbles outdoors in the sun
To laugh and run
To eat Jamaica *** and Raisin chocolate on a Saturday night
To wait up late to watch a man walk on the moon
To hide behind the settee when Dr Who comes on the T.V
To climb trees
To watch cricket played in the park
To roller skate
To swing as high as the cross bar
To grow your hair as long as your knees
To try and get it to curl with rags in your hair, desperately
To have your family motorbike and sidecar towed home by a taxi
To run on the sand
To watch the Royal Marines marching band
To swim in the sea
To walk on the moors
To be free to explore

And some people don't and that's okay.  These experiences are unique to me.  Allowed by my parents to play wild and free.  Free of the shackles, growing up with epilepsy.

People often stand and stare at nothing in particular.
Lost deep in thought, emotions bare.
Does anyone really care?

I stand and stare by your side, I will happily join you for the ride.
Let me help you find your way, together towards another day.

Together is stronger, a love so deep, a love that allows you to weep but picks you up when you are down.
Changing a smile from a frown.

Have faith in love to be your friend, take a chance and see.
That if you truly love someone you can truly be.

Dax Moy you made think
About straws being more than an object to **** up your drink
So I took all the straws upon my back threw them on the floor sat down and started to explore

Now different colours have different meanings
I want to make it clear, that some straws are, indeed, most welcome around here

Red Straws - Red is the colour of Life, Cupid and Love, its the giver of life running in your veins as blood.
Without Red I would have no reason to exist
I want to keep Red it's top of my list

Blue Straws - Blue is the colour of Water, the maintainer of life.
All sorts of life flourish and grow with the drop of water upon the soil, I need it along with the blood to help keep me alive.
I want to keep Blue, if its OK with you

Orange Straws - Orange is the colour of bright sunshine.
It gives us warmth and feeds plants, mammals and our souls.
Orange I'm not ready to let go

Yellow Straws - Yellow is the colour of sand, mixed with Water it makes things strong, buildings that can last very long
Yellow is useful as a handy glue, I'm decided I'm keeping Yellow too

Green Straws - Green is the colour of Grass - mixed with Yellow and Blue can add insulation to walls and ceilings
So dear colour Green, i am feeling that you are the last straw I am keeping

Black - the last straw on the floor, I only has one thing to do.
It ***** the drink from A to B and is the least useful straw for you and me

So now I am decided for me which colours are the best. Why don't you do the same and put your straws to the test.
Someone I know wrote an article about straws on your and freeing yourself of them. Got me. Thinking

The doors are wide open
The sky is blue
The wind is cold it cuts right through
I love the wind upon my face
It reminds me to embrace whats on its way
Who knows what will come
with every day

I love the wind blowing through the house
It sweeps the air and makes it pure
Pure crisp air for all to breathe
It’s done its job, it may now leave

It swirls and whirls and with it takes
Memories some new and some untold
But it never takes the old ones that are valuable to you
The wind leaves them behind for you to cherish once it’s gone

Who knew the wind could be so strong?
Sat at my table writing this morning, doors wide open, the sky is blue but the wind is a bit chilly, i do have all the windows in the house open too. i hope this weather holds off in time for my walk this afternoon, hopefully it will be a long one.

Nourishing the Land
Reviving life in our plants
Summer Rain, falling again

Dark clouds full of Summer Rain
Falling on flood plains
Causing panic and distress
As the rain blows through again
Experimenting Tanka style, Summer Rain seems topical today.

You came again!
You are a balm to our soul.
In an otherwise world of grey,

You bring warmth.
In a world of silence,

In a world of loneliness,

Thank you for staying around!

When I left work tonight at five  o'clock
The light was falling but it wasn't dark
It was as though Van Gogh had taken his brush
Painted the sky in a faint blush
All different hues from grey to white to red and blue
And it got me thinking of you
I wish I could have captured its sight and shared it with you tonight
You would have loved the picture and the glow
How I still miss you so **

The sight of it bringing you to your knees
The trees branches still bare of leaves
Gives the sky a hauntingly beautiful glow
And your thankful to have been there to see the sunset beneath the trees
To be brought to your knees by the outstanding beauty that's nature
Seen a few lovely Sunsets lately on way home from work.

Ten little ducklings,
furry and new.
Huddling together shielding themselves from your view.
Mother Hen protectively stands nearby.
Watching you closely with her eagle eye.
Father the Drake full of colour
stands a little to the side, but don't be fooled be certain; he's a fighter not a lover.
If you threaten he will chase you away.
Survival the name of the game.
On our walk down by the canal a family, mother, father and ten ducklings so sweet

Oh America we feel for you today, 26 lives stolen away
Praying in church for God to rest their souls , lives taken both young and old.
We weep and cry for the family members that remain, hoping that one day they will feel less pain.

Reason on hiatus, no way to make any sense
violence and hatred rampant, way too many, dead
all that's left, is aftermath, no justice too dispense
burying lives, for those who survive, and every tear dropped, or shed

Picking up the pieces, trying to move on, now that 26 lives have gone.
Trying to make sense of what’s left behind
Rewriting Gun Laws, springs to mind, not to take away your right to arms.
Just to make it harder for those that like to inflict harm.

Fight the fight, and know within your heart and soul
remembering those, we can't replace
and in church our guns, to hold

26 souls taken suddenly away,
Lets us all offer our thoughts and prayers to those left behind
Showing the world Humanity wins everytime.

Pray the prayers, and hang our heads, my friends
for those who are with us, no more
and to heaven's gates, commend

Amen

Hi, my name is Suzy the Squirrel.
And by nature,  I should be a  solitary soul.
However, I live in woodlands surrounding the River Louse
And one of my best friends is Mr. Mouse

I like to forage at the hour when the day turns to night.
When the Moon is in the sky and shining so bright.
I am kept company by another friend, the Owl.
Owl deters nearby predators by the use of his talons and howl.

I am rusty red in colour and with a large bushy tail.
Which I use like a broom when I am preparing my countrystore for a sale.
When I forage, I collect items discarded by humans.
When they visit the countryside, I sell the items back to them, it’s a simple case of re-distribution.

You can read me about me in the Tales of Mr. Mouse
Mr. Mouse who lives with his wife and eleven children in a small house.
A house that sits in the woodlands surrounding the River Louse.

Mr. Mouse has many friends, including me.
I am Suzy the Squirrel, and I live mainly alone in the sanctuary of my large Oak tree.

My sweet friend
Hold my hand
Let me take you to a better land
A land where everyone is unique
A land where petals pave the street
A land where everyone is happy and free
A land where you would want to be
Oh, sweet friend, I can take you there, just take my hand and follow me there.

My sweet friend
Hold my hand
Together we can stroll to far away lands
Lands where love conquers all
Lands where we can revive our souls
Lands that are serene and so divine
Lands that were created before the start of time
Oh, sweet friend, I can take you there, just take my hand and follow me there.

My sweet friend
Hold my hand
We can make a life in another land
A land where we can love each other
A land where we are true to each other
A land like no one else will see
A land unique to you and me
Oh, sweet friend, I can take you there, just take my hand and follow me there.

My Sweet Friend
Place your hand upon my heart, we can be together until death do us part
don't know why, just came to me - hope you like

Lying in bed
Tea by my side
Reading a book
Trying to hide

Duvet pulled up to my chin
Keep everyone out
Let nobody in

Unhappy with my body, how I look
One look in the mirror, was all it took
To send me back to my bed for the day
Where colours are not permitted and everything's grey

Tomorrow I will rise
Open my eyes
Feel blessed to I saw another sunrise

But for today I am happy
Just me and my bed
Tea and biscuits by my side keeping me watered and fed
Hey don't worry about me, I'm up and about
Just some days, well you know what I mean

Another year over, a new one has begun,
I reflect on the great things that I’ve done,
The places I’ve been, the people I’ve met,
The many ways I travelled by car, train and jet.

I’ve been to some great places, Zante, Memphis, New Orleans & France,
All these places have their own unique rhythm and dance,
In Zante it’s Greek music and dancing, jumping and clapping all part of the fun,
In France the rhythm is vibrant and fun, all taking part under a gorgeous warm sun,
In Memphis, of course, it’s rock and roll, rhythm and blues and a lot of soul,
Beale St is the place to go,
In New Orleans, it’s rhythm and blues and jazz,
On each street corner marching bands,
Bourbon St the place for all genres of music from Louis Armstrong to Jason Mraz.

I’ve climbed to the top of a Mountain to look at a Saxon Fort,
I’ve been underground to some Roman Remains,
I’ve travelled the English Channel from Dover Port.
I’ve become intolerant to the Gluten Grain.

I’ve visited Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams,
I’ve been to Cardiff to see the Speedway,
Visited a stately home for Scones and Cream,
I’ve visited The Mumbles, Swansea just for the day.

I’ve celebrated my middle son getting married,
I’ve snuggled the Grandkids for hours and hours,
Dozens of shopping trips complete and bags carried,
Worried over my Grandkids in the darkest of hours.

I’ve visited Graceland’s, home of The King,
I’ve travelled from Memphis to New Orleans by Amtrak train,
I’ve visited the bayou of New Orleans,
Seen Alligators sleeping, Herons, Lizards and Cat Fish on the end of a line,
Travelled the Mississippi on a paddle boat powered by steam.

I’ve visited museums in several locations,
The Van Gogh, The *** Museum and The Moco in Amsterdam, The Lowry and Imperial War Museum in Manchester,
Walked these cities in all types of Weather,
Viewed paintings and sculptures by Van Gogh, Dali, Lowry and Banksy, photographs of **** maids and their Lords,
At the Imperial War Museum, I learned a lot about wars,
On display the bravery of more than a few, Men, Women and Children too.

I’ve had family days out aplenty,
Fed ducks, swans and geese with stale bread,
Trips to the park on seesaws and swings,
Laughed so much, at Comedy Club, it’s hurt my head.

I’ve travelled on a barge up the Manchester Ship Canal
I’ve visited Rame Head, Cornwall, for Family occasions
I’ve watched Peabody Ducks march back to their nest, a carnival fit for Royal
Walked along the cliffs of Whitsand Bay, close to the Coastguard Station

I’ve published two children’s books based on stories told my children at bedtime
I’ve been to concerts, Phil Collins, Coldplay, Robbie Williams and The Rolling Stones
I’ve written many a poem, 190 plus including Limericks, consisting of 5 lines that rhyme
I’ve had a tooth implant, causing swelling and bruising to my cheekbones

I’ve discovered a love of Gin and Tonic,
I never used to like so that’s ironic
Rhubarb and Ginger my favourite flavour
Sit at the bar, sip it slow, it’s a joy to savour

I’ve had times I needed to cry
I’ve had times I needed a hug
I’ve had times I needed to smile
I’ve had times I needed to laugh
I’ve had times I needed no one
I’ve had times I needed to be surrounded

As I reflect at the year past,
I reflect that mostly it’s been a blast,
This year I want to experience new things,
And, my long-term plan is to return to running.

So, please Lord bring forth another year,
I’ll use all my blood, sweat and tears,
To make good use of another year.

Hope you enjoy reading about the things I have done this last year, I enjoyed writing it, when you analyse everything you do in a year you realise how much there is to be grateful for.
Don't get me wrong I've had my share of bad things too, lost my father in law, run over by a motorcycle, and watched my grandson having a fit but for the purposes of this Poem i've focused on the positives.
For a bit of interest, I've added On This Day in History and People who share my birthday.
Thank you for reading.

Nature is a wonder and joy
From tiny creatures to giant beasts
Weather storms from the East
Geysers ready to blow
Snails moving very slow
From microscopic bugs to giant turtles on the beach
Birds flying high and out of reach
Rainbows and Sunsets with bright red skies
Super blue blood Moons and northern lights
Sloths idly lazing in a tree
Bees, butterflies moths and flies pollinating flowers as they fly by
Elephants and rhinoceros drinking at the watering hole
Worms that are bright giving off a glow
Stars twinkling in the dark night
The sun shining strong and bright
Each creature differs in stripes or spots, tusks or horns, hooves or paws
Some have poison in their bodies ready to release in a bite
Some are docile creatures keeping theirselves hidden from sight
You have mountain ranges that go on for miles
Painted ladies making you smile
Whales with humpbacks and Sharks with hammerheads
Rivers that give creatures a place to call their bed
Swans that glide effortlessly and with grace
Flightless birds that can sprint and win a race
Monkeys, tigers, crocodiles and kangaroos
Bears brown and black, Polar that are white, Pandas and Koala too
Roaming plantations not kept caged  in zoos
Coral reefs keeping coastlines safe from waves crashing on the shore
A big wide world for everyone to explore
Waterfalls 1000metres high, water cascading and falling to the ground
Hydrating the grasses and plants that surround
All of this and more can be found if you open your eyes and look around
Take stock of the beauty outside your door
Recycle plastics don't drop them on the floor or overboard at sea, don't fly tip your ******* selfishly
Plant wildflowers in your garden and you will be repaid by a very beautiful colours ablaze
Attracting Bees and butterflies to your home
Teaching your children to respect and admire
Keeping the beauty alight and on fire
For future generations to cherish and see
Keeping nature healthy and robust for eternity
A prompt from another website got me thinking, hope you enjoy
