I write the kind of poetry
That gets stuck to the roof of your mouth
That you'll choke on as you swallow down
That
You'll spend years trying to
Extract from your ears
Wipe from your memory
And wash off
Your fingertips.

When we were six weeks old
We smiled and connected
For a lifetime.

For a lifetime
Following,
We forget
How easy it is
To make connections
With just a smile.

Maybe the reason we spend night after night
staring at a blank paper
is because the words we so desperately need to write,
are words that have not yet been created.
I have so many things I don't know how to say.

Rest in my arms
That carried the world
You are not alone
My precious girl

If you ran farther
Than eyes could see
In your heart you'd stay
This near to Me

How long have I waited
For you to desire
To warm your hands
At My heart's fire

With open arms
And teary eyes
Welcome home
You're Mine, you're Mine.
If I told you
my secrets
would you
hold them close?
Or would you
careless
scatter them wide?

I keep your secrets
please keep mine

We are critical.

We find flaws in
everything we see
because nobody
wants to write
about perfection,
even though sometimes
we wish we could just stay
staring into that
unblemished surface.

2. We are never satisfied.

We live our lives upon
mountains of
scrunched up
bits of refill and
ideas we gave up
trying to
express.

3. We never forget.

We write words about
eye contact made
three months ago
that we replay over
and over in our minds
even though it
stopped
being relevant.

4. We are fickle.**

Our emotions flash
from one
to the other
like strobe lighting that
disorientates us
until we feel as if
the world
will never be still.

5. We are exposed.

We don't know how
to keep our feelings
to ourselves so
we'll write them
down for
you to find
'accidentally'.

6. We are vulnerable.

We wear our
hearts on our sleeves
and won't lift a
muscle to fight back
if somebody tries
to break it
because we thrive
from the pain.

7. We will never stop.

We will never stop
feeling and
we will never stop
hurting,
we will never stop
breaking and
bleeding and
loving
even though the cycle
is endless
and we know what's
coming next.

We are addicted
to agony,
but we agonise
for the art.
It's worth it though.

Sometimes words just can't say what you feel
And the most beautiful poetry is

the tears sliding down your cheeks

the memory of being too small to understand anything but a smile

holding someone's hand for the first time

the pain no one can really put into words, when you lose the most important person in the world

The daydreams and nightdreams and everything else inbetween

And knowing you are loved

The season has turned again
but
Are you warm at all
Do your intentions shiver
Could you run to far lands
and
Find your convictions
so
Comfortably swathed
Can you find enough fuel
to
Sustain the fire
of
Past afflictions

although our paths may never cross
I belong to you
and I don't feel the lonely wicked cold
like I used to
because I know you are out there
somewhere, stranger
haze-gazing
just like me
trudging along the best you can
filling some voids
where you see fit
with a heart that overflows
and understands
although our paths may never cross
you've helped me, stranger
and we are the same
throwing stars in the void
finding joy
in the empty space
of our days
