I want to make something
from this void

I talked to my old friend today
& she's still so sweet,
lovely to hear from.

We were part
of the great romance,
we danced
cheek to cheek
into the wee hours
of the night,
endlessly we stared
into one another's eyes,
saw the light,
made great love (the best),
but we couldn't get enough
of each other.

Oh yeah,
we fought the good fight
& we tried to make it last,
but it broke fast.

We're
a million miles apart now,
we see the same sun,
watch the same moon rise
& reminisce
about what we once had,
now gone
forever.

Lost in her thoughts
while smiling at me
She was giving up hope
that I could see
I wanted to tell her
how much I care
Not knowing exactly
how I would fare
Her eyes flickered
reminiscent of a green sea
But I knew deep inside
she was crying on one knee
Begging her Heavenly Father
that she wouldn't veer
Her Father comforting her
saying he was near
I wanted to hug her
and stay by her side
All the while
wanting to cry
For she didn't see
the beauty she had
Instead she thought herself ugly making her sad
But with the greatest
gift at hand
She was going to make
a valiant stand
One for her Father
who stood by her side
For this reason
I knew she'd survive
Although there is still
an ache in my soul
I know she has a Father
she can always uphold
She will overcome
the struggle at hand
I know she will make
a valiant stand

who does not speak of what their heart is full of;
there is a certain Virginian
whose heart words lift you into joyous rapture

Your eyes are blue
In the sunshine,
But not just any blue.
They are the color of
The wildflowers that grow
In the fields we run in
(sometimes. But not anymore)
Except for in the morning,
When I awake next to you
(once, but just friends)
They looked green.
In fact, they were the exact color
Of the leaves outside my window
When I see them through rain spattered
Panes: storm-colored.


Your eyes are grey
In the shadows when you
Laugh and tell me silly things
That mean more to me than
Anything I've ever been taught
(I love you)


Your eyes are blue
Even when you say nothing is better,
Nothing is what you want for us.
Through my tear clouded mind,
Your cold, careless eyes are blue.
And I still love you.

From your love fountain
You offered the charmed drink
Only to be intoxicated
As I slowly drown in you
