 Jun 2014 That Girl
Tara Marie
Photographs are blurring.
The air in here is stirring.
The doors become alluring.
Sitting in solemn silence.

My pulse is ever fading.
The walls are now degrading.
In memories, I'm wading.
Walking in solemn silence.

I see them all speaking.
I see her mother shrieking.
I see their eyes are leaking.
Standing in solemn silence.

A rose. A path. A smile.
The only, for awhile.
Two steps could be a mile.
Looking in solemn silence.

Nineteen years was brief.
I wish I caught the thief.
In her veins, it found relief
In solemn silence.
This poem is dedicated to Grace Riviere. You are deeply loved and missed.

Let me kiss lips that are like ember
Let them smother me like smoke
Let them fill me like air

Let me wrap my arms around you like a ribbon
Let them hold you like clouds
Let them bind you like string

Let me love you like infinite stars
Let it intertwine us like lace
Let it shower us like pouring rain

Wonder

Lost in time
Don't know where I'm going
Just like the wind through the trees
I'm roaming

Full of wonder
Six feet under
You only live once

Clueless minded
What will my purpose be
Wonder what life has in store for me.

Just go where ever it takes me
Not trying to please
So if you please
Don't hate me
For wondering
I have had enough of people
Of life
I have had enough of the noises
We make on cue
The buttons pressed
The buzzes and whirs
That always fizzle
The righteous anger
And the bloodlust masquerading as fact
The hopeless treadmill of pleasure
And this glass of high proof alcohol
That disinfects my heart

There’s a mountain before you
One you feel you can never climb
The distance is frightening,
but I know you can make it to the other side
If only you try

I’ve seen the strength
that you carry inside
I’ve seen the will, the passion
the fight in your eyes
I’ve witnessed your ambition
I know you can do it one more time

You can do anything
You can be anyone
You can be happy, too
But first you must believe
in the power of you

You’re powerful,
valuable, beautiful and brave
And I know that you know
you can make it through tomorrow
if you can get through today;
I will be there for you
every step of the way

Today was the day I came alive,
I don't feel broken anymore.
A charming boy smiled at me,
he even held open the door.

Since we've begun speaking
I've developed some unnatural tendencies
Like reaching my arm to the south when I'm going to sleep
Just to know that you're three feet closer to me

You ignite something deep inside
I hear you sing through the telephone and I close my eyes
I don't know what it will be like
The anticipation is killing me

---

Your touch came with the first warmth of spring
A short time to confirm so many possibilities
And I sleep with your scent wrapped around me now

He was a poet,
She his poetry.

He was a crooner,
She his melody.

He was a painter,
She his masterpiece.

He was a monk,
She his inner peace.

He was a captain,
She his ship.

He was an admiral,
She his fleet.

He was a laddie,
She his missy.
. . .
. .
.
Now there's no more she.
Forlorn is he.
