Yesterday, clouds gathered in the sky
Covering the sun,
Yesterday, I saw the ravens fly
I saw the squirrels run.

The wind stormed on the walls in rage
Her fury knew no bounds,
Violently she rattled the cage
Of the hell hounds.

She flew from tree to tree
Unsettling its leaves and flowers,
A hive that sheltered a swarm of honeybee
Fell in the pond, for the frogs to devour.

A thunderclap echoed from a distance
A prelude to what is to come,
Shattering everything in existence
Leaving everything numb.

Enveloped in darkness
The canvas was coloured grey and black,
It had an air of stillness
Yet, there was something that it lacked.

And then it started to rain
On the brown soil of the small town,
Easing the pain
That was hidden behind the smile of a clown.

Do you remember our hopes
to reach for the stars?
We've fallen so far
back
We can't wait for Yesterday.

If i could go back in time
would my mistakes always haunt my mind?
step by step; i'm closer every day
Tomorrow seems a million miles away

JOURNEY WITH ME TO THE DEPTHS OF MY MIND

yesterday
today
tomorrow

three days
all seeming impossible to conquer
but i make it through
and come out on the other side
smiling.

wake up
breath in and out
take in the new day like a leaf absorbs the morning dew
it's time to go

yesterday's errors are erased when the clock strikes twelve
you are new
you are a butterfly breaking out of a cocoon of coulda-woulda-shoulda
ready to take flight and make brand new beautiful mistakes

you've never had a day quite like today before
you'll never have a day quite like today again
so embrace it

It’s a day in a life - forgotten then, remembered now.
Moments beckon - names and faces, contemplated, redesigned.

Token gestures - silent offerings. Motivations unexplained.
Blame forsaken - sorrows blending, regrets neglected, rearranged.

i was born yesterday
everything was new
i’d never heard my grandma cry
yet her face was fresh with dew

someone held me yesterday
i was an infant in her arms
her voice was milk and honey
as she whispered to be calm

i was born yesterday
the day another passed
his wife just couldn’t wake him
when she got home from mass

i accept the past
i embrace the future
i live today
fully
fearlessly
without judgement or self-doubt
mindful
that i am both
my yesterday and my tomorrow
