At this time of year,
it seems that everyone
is looking for a piece of blue sky
with a little bit of green;

Among the frazzle and the dazzle,
the trash and the tinsel,
a piece of themselves
that they misplaced;

Down the back of the sofa,
back in the day
when blue sky grew on trees
and green summers were forever.

‘So now it is time to disassemble the parts of the jigsaw puzzle or to piece another one together, for I find that, having come to the end of my story, my life is just beginning.‘
- Conrad Veidt

When I first thought of love,
I thought of all the things people told me.
The rules and regulations.
Everyone that crossed my path
would be looked at through a tiny lens,
and if they moved out of frame,
they were gone for good.

When I first met you,
I didn’t think of anything at all.
The start of a new year,
The scream of the crowd as
the clock struck midnight,
and I was so enamored by you that
I forgot my camera altogether.
Many chapters end with a far bigger plot twist
than what we intended to seek.
They will have many ups to make us feel euphoric
and many downs to make us feel weak.
Although some chapters can be long, others can be short
and we wish they could have gone on forever.
We'll miss many of the moments and words we sadly skipped
to see if the ending would bring us together.
Yet there's one thing to note, one thing to remember
that we'll only have so many chapters.
So we hope to god we've fulfilled our dreams
that will give us our happy ever afters.

Another year over...
And I’m happy to leave it behind.
Despite the sweet sweet memories
I collected
I’ve found that rock bottom has a basement
where I still sit.

Blazing thru November moons,
The twelfth month frolicked down;
Devouring vespers of the Halloween monsoons,
And rained fire to dim-lit towns.
We brewed gunpowder haze and caught thrill fever,
While we stripped our calendars bare;
We saw houses and streets collect the cinders,
To make verdant trees with flickering hairs.
There was an ember glowing beneath our beds,
That burned brighter with the days that came;
We hummed the tunes now etched in our heads,
And amused our kins now we only know by name.
We stuffed excitement in our pillows,
As we're dying to open our holiday loots;
Our happiness was still too shallow,
But our smiles lit up the kitchen soot.
The cold winds kept fanning the flames,
The one which fueled our childhood sun;
Until we stopped playing our parlor games,
And our feet grew too cold to run.
Holiday season is never the same when we get older.

I know why god made waterfalls
Or why birds fly

When you cast thy mind to the call
your feet will lift to the sky

And if by gone ages be deaf
And no great minds be left

Then cast my mind astray
Like an owl lost in the light of day

God poured a waterfall in my heart
Once my soul was an arrow but now 'tis a dart

Flying flying towards i know not what
But i think they call this art

I am listening and it is getting louder
Nature is giving birth we must surround her

The future is an angel in your mind
With love and compassion we must ground her

So I trek with compass and staff
Because they **** with  mind
And suffocate with number and graph

I whistle upon the dixies
As I sneak around with pixies

In the end of it all
It seems a bit chaff
Inward thinking to myself, I laugh

A nation that seeks to craft
what the forefathers draft;
a declaration of independence,
a nation of acceptance and coexistence.

A nation that weaves laws
for the ones of different colors,
wears,
and of worship —
building a homage for them all.

A nation with the vision of a blend of culture,
welcoming them into progressing lands  that play the tune of harmony
as blankets them in safety.

A tolerant nation
of multicultural lands,
and foreign tongues.
Building Seven Pillars
that stand tall and high
to inspire and ingrain
tolerance in every
crannies and nooks of the nation.

This is UAE.

In this life we
live there is a
time to give, to
give thanks for
what we have
what we do
who we are
as we stand and
shine like the
brightest star.

In this time of thanks
we try to see
the goodness of gathering
with family
hoping that the closing
will hold the key
to an opening for better
in the new year to be.

The gathering of family
at holiday events
should NOT be about
the bling
the number of presents.
It should be about
time together
genuinely,
that idea seems so
given, hello
maybe it's just me.

Is a breath,
Stuffed with coffee grind
Thirsting for milk
And never to suckle.

Is a thought,
A dream quickly awoken from;
And lost in the tenor of real,
Sighs from life

Is a light,
A shaft of gold
worth all the stars
And yet empty

Is a place,
With silent waves and screaming winds--
The ears, pierced with calculated air

Is a God,
Is a moment,
Is a place,
Is a thought,
Is a breath,

Is a time to give thanks to winter
And dance in the snow.

Is a time to kiss the trees and hug their leaves
And laugh
When their cackled, dehydrated ossicles
Ground to dust in our arms

Is a time to worship the sun between the planes of stone
And calculate the equinox online
With electrons and info

With a careful rasp
The next turn of the marble
Grates against the curve
And the Mancala track keeps what it has sown.
