Crosses on the windows
Why must you divide the view?
The outside world is not divided into sections
It is instead, one giant pane

Being objectified by humanity
It's future ***** and unclear
People may be hired to clean you,
but the major issues are stained

Beyond recognition, so filthy
I wonder if we will ever
gaze upon a clean and open
window ever again
I hope we cure Earth in the near future.

Outside two squirrels foraging
Inside one hundred and one keys tapping
Three buttons clicking and one wheel spinning
Eight hours a day sitting badly
In an ergonomic desk chair
Soft fingers tap on plastic and glass
Weak muscle memory of calluses and splinters
And sunburn blisters from another life
Outside the old prairie wind howls like a phantom
Lost in urban canyons buffets the panes
Drives the torrents of freezing rain
Hard droplets tap on metal and glass
While inside our high-rise terrariums we sit
Generating transient value that flits
Up into the clouds till whenever
You tap plastic to trade your invisible worth
For a hot meal in a disposable bowl
Ponder and sip in another life you could be
Spending all day in the freezing rain
Hunting squirrels for soup
A whimsical corollary to my previous poem, Soup for Squirrels.

I sat outside today eating
Sushi and miso soup in the sun
Some squirrels came by
And stared at me hopefully
I put a bit of miso soup in the lid
And set it out for them
But they weren't interested
Then a gust of cold wind blew the lid over
And the soup was spilled
One of the squirrels went for the crumbs
In an old potato chip bag instead
A somewhat poetic anecdote from my lunch hour.

looking at the sunset, the time where the skies want to look pretty for us

Even during the summertime, wintertime, spring, fall; every season the sky goes into a different style
but we also make ourselves look pretty for someone special

But imagine being the sunset, that not only one person see’s your beauty but the whole world gets to see it?

The colour that the sky showcases, it changes, beauty changes everyday
maybe I could be your sunset & u can be the sunrise, so I can wake up & see the beauty in you

Dawn & twilight, sunrise and sunset
Now paint yourself like that sunset.
Maybe living life like the sunset,

I could see the beauty in anything, within myself, & within the world
So go and be the sunset,
The world wants to see you shimmer
A fieldfare visited your garden today,
The familiar blackbirds were chased away
They clung to home hedgrows, flew back and forth
Like me,  your garden is their true North

I worry, is it a climate change sign?..and you say,
Is it a problem? Should we shoo it away?
We decide to let nature do it her way,
To not intervene on this beautiful day.

The next morning I see that peace one again reigns.
The blackbirds are back in the bush by the lane.
The fieldfare has ceased terratorial fight
And the usual doves
Take their usual flight
A fieldfare is a bird seen in UK gardens in the Autumn

coyote
          tried to take
a girl

          sunk his teeth
in to that girlflesh
          and ran

shot dead
           by the cops
in less than a day

strange
           that we are
judge
           jury
executioner

lawmaking
            legislating
binding
            animals to our humanity
when they know
             nothing
of our lives

            the girl lived
       bearing the mark of teeth
forever

the coyote perished
            for human vanity
revenge
            reciprocity
i just find it really strange that we drive animals out of their homes, give them no replacement, take them nowhere else, just leave them to fend for themselves in the middle of suburban developments and then expect them not to do what animals do and try to get food any way they can. there's nothing okay about a wild animal trying to eat a child but i think the PD's resources could have gone to better use than killing that coyote.
