Shooting stars and candles,
eyelashes and full moons;
it's not a bowl of lucky charms,
but wishes for us loons.

So break a wishbone if you must;
throw a penny in a well,
but know my dear that in the end,
a wish is but a shell.

You can blow the dandelion seeds,
and watch them float away,
but don't waste your time on wishes child;
go out and seize the day.
If
If
I gave each star a
spoonful of poetry
they could sparkle
word blossoms
down toward the earth

and when the flower-works
break through
the atmosphere
they would shatter
into nourishing
word petals
that would sizzle
into the hearts
of everyone they fell upon

then
when all the people on earth
have been poem-pierced
nothing but
truth
would leave their lips

Ahhhh

One day I pray I do return,
Maybe the yearning in me will have lost its burn.
This army life is callous and hard,
Could a touch to your lips destroy my guard?
This warm feeling says "when I see your face,
Our sweet embrace will light my fire place".
That place is here deep within my breast,
Just lay, listen, my heart will do the rest.
For my room is with euphoric,
This bliss has no boundary.
Could you show me your heart?
Will open it with this sound key.
Haler the whimsical blend of our laughs.
This is one of my favorites.

Lovers come and lovers go
I am dissatisfied with my toes;
I ponder too often about the unknown,
and spend little time on my own.

My Fridays are scheduled,
My Thursdays, too
I wonder when I'll have time for you
This weekend or next?
I do not know,
Some coffee, some tea? A midnight show?

My bed groans as I settle in,
A single sardine in a lonesome tin.
I read of romances, dramas, and more -
Sometimes, I feel my life is a bore.

I dream of adventures across the world
With someone special to hold;
When nights become chilly and the news become old,
I don't want to be alone in the cold.
Written on a whim December 5th, 2014.

In the elegance of eternal palaces
The draping diamond-emerald web
It holds attention with a lustful stare
Glittering boldly shining glare.
"Who goes there?"
The guard holds firm
"It is I, the boy who--"
"Nevermind who you are,
Begone and make it far!
This palace is ruled by the one
The only, mighty Jaffar."
Dismayed but not distraught
The boy he did leave
Understanding full-well the guard had his duty.
He turned and departed
(Before doing so he farted)
And set pace for a land known as Oz.
It was there he would find
A miraculous dime
Known by all as the Queen of good times
"Queen you must come,
Come quick we must run
By the fate of all that is true!"
"Young boy who are you
Can't you see I'm busy too!"
The boy bit his lip
He had to think quick
"I know of a man
This man's seen it all
And to this day he stands tall
On his claim that nothing can move him!"
Unsure of the claim and aware of her fame
The Queen of good times was enlisted.
"This man he's no match
I'm made of heart-attacks,
Lust and desire, my holy empire,
Watch me reduce him to rubble!"
This guard was in trouble
As they walked on the double
To his post where he stood tall and strong
"Alas what is this?
It appears a boy and his mother!
Step aside pesky swine, I haven't but the time
To tolerate a boy and his ***** of a mother!"
Why the queen, she undressed and the man was impressed
This bought the boy just enough time.
The boy made it in and jumped in for a swim
The prince had made it back for tea time.

We are
   all at once
          the same
yet different

Bodies drifting through a timeless space
Navigating the maze of life

For now drifting apart, until we are made whole again

How bright the sun
How warm the sky
How strong the love of you and I
How cool the breeze
How sweet the scent
and how I love the time we spent
Rolling hills and splashing waves
Endless nights and year long days
Through summers touch and winters chill
I hold you close and time stands still
Tony Oquendo Aug 2014
I would give to you a gift, something from the heart
That you may remember me, should we be apart
I searched for something special, that lends itself to say
How much my heart burns for you, every moment of the day
I looked around to see, flowers of every kind
The colors were so beautiful, the scents so divine
I saw a lot of animals, kittens and puppies too
But none so soft and warm or nearly as lovely as you
I turned to the Oceans where dolphins and corals thrive
Reefs of endless beauty a mirror of the sky
But still the deepest oceans were shallow in compare
To the wisp of your voice and the flowing of your hair
So I took to the heavens and witnessed the birth of stars,
galaxies and nebulae, wonders from afar
And in this place of wonder, I finally came to see
to show my love and passion, what I give to you, is me.

I love your button nose
And  your curly wavy hair
Your curious little fingers
And your wondrous blue eyed stare
Your giant little smile
And your laugh that melts my heart
Your wiggly little toes
And each and every part
To my daughter

I would be the snow where you make angels
and the powder where you fall
The leaves that catch your eye
changing colors in the fall
The sounds that lift your spirit
singing softly in the spring
The warm summers sun
and the happiness within
