Please let me give you the stars
And by the stars, I mean my hand
And by my hand, I mean my love
And by my love, I mean my life

Please let me be your wife
And by wife, I mean your safe place
And by safe place, I mean your yoke
And by yoke I mean your here and now

Please let me be your vow
And by vow, I mean your rock
And by rock, I mean your castle
And by castle, I mean your treasure

Please let me be your forever

Tiktok
The clock says in a hurry
Tiktok
The clock croaks in a constant rhythm

Pit pat
The rain rattling on the roof
Pit pat
The rain runs down in a fast marathon

Dug dug
The heart of your mistress beats
Dud dug
The heart of your lady pulse in a slow dance

Your lady in her white dress
On the floor she lays
Her eyes closed
Her hand closed tight into a fist

Her light lavender hair
Splayed around her head like a halo
Her bottom lip is bleeding
Her breathing unsteady

Kling klang
The chimes sings in a high note
Kling klang
The chimes chants in an attempt of announcement

Woosh woosh
The wind blows harshly
Woosh woosh
The wind whispered loudly

Dug dug dug
The heart of your mistress beats
Dud dug dug
The heart of your lady pulse in chaos

The clock
The rain
The chimes
The wind

Even her heart
The letter clasped in her hand
That contains the news of your demise
Reminds her of what she lost

Drip drip drip
The tears streaming down her face
Sniff sniff sniff
The grief starts to set in
What could be the worst thing that could happen in a wedding day?
If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee;
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me ye women if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold,
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee give recompense.
Thy love is such I can no way repay;
The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.
Then while we live, in love let's so persever,
That when we live no more we may live ever.

Most beautiful...
at the vows...
then again...
at 50 years!
I’m at 33 years... 17 years to go!  There is a joke - Joe is crying in the corner at his 50 yr wedding anniversary... his best friend asks... “Joe why you crying? This is a beautiful day!” Joe says...” “Her Dad said I either had to marry her or go to jail for 50 years... I’m crying cause I coulda been a free man today!”

I.
Love has a pulse
A rhythm method
Sometimes
Hand in hand
Others
Hand-to-hand
Best wedding gift:
A book of matches
For those times of
Darkness ahead

II.
Coming out of the ether
The gravitate to "we"
Is no longer in
Simulation
We are space
Outer and uncharted
Breathe deep now
Once again
Let pressurization
Begin

III.
Spontaneous
Combustion
Magic hour
Learn by repetition
Crouching tiger, hidden dragon
Tongue on the verge
Circling the rosebud
Like the rise of an empire
Blown by the wind
Every which way
The blissful vein
Is tapped into

IV.
Localized storm
Waves against the sandbags
Not quite filled enough
Water gets in
Does its damage
The insurance policy
With no flood coverage
We are now indeed
An island

V.
Sacrificial offering
Open palms
Bowed heads
Recite your sorrows
And count the losses
Forgiveness comes like
Piecemeal
A little at a time

VI.
Something new
And loud and wet
Love has a different hue
To its sky
It will be cloud free
Never again
A hunt for a nap
Or dreams of napping
In this maddening mosaic
That blurs the line between
Caretaker and sleepwalker

VII.
Endurance wins the race
Not good intentions
Home can survive
The change of seasons
We plant the flowers
We water the lawn
We rake the leaves
We prune the trees
This is our garden
If we don't tend to it
Who will?
Toll - a tax or fee paid for some liberty or privilege.

Love's cornerstone set
Forty-five years together
Dear wife of my youth
Our sons, their wives, our lives full
May love's embrace continue...

As she walked down the aisle I was smiling
My blushing young bride was beguiling
After kissing, do tell
I re-lowered the veil
My excuse was "our wedding's freestyling."
7/14/2018 - Poetry form: Limerick - That's exactly what I did at our wedding.  After kissing my beautiful, blushing bride I re-lowered the veil. The immediate explosion of laughter left me blushing. Yes, I was smart enough to lift it before the recessional :) - Copyright © Mark Toney | Year Posted 2018

M, I vow to love you. Simply and purely, Just you forever.
I vow to hold your hand through hardships and cheer your victories. The small, the large, the ones that seem like they couldn't be.
I vow to be your family, no matter who comes or leaves our life. May our family grow, though if it does not, may my love be enough.
I vow to keep you company, all the days of your life. In person or through spirit.
I vow to hold God in our relationship. That he might guide us to love one another better.
I vow to love you, M.
Not really a poem, but after Paper and Diamonds, I thought I'd share...

I remember when I was little,
I used to dance in your room.

I don't know why,
but I guess I really liked your room!

At your wedding,
I called your name all the time.

You were so beautiful to me,
I wished you were mine.

I never knew how much you loved me until now.
And I will give you my promise when I have taken my vow.

You told me you were proud of me,
and you were filled with surprise.

You said,"I always wish for your happiness,"
tears fill my eyes.
