it doesn’t have to mean anything more
than a crumpled up dollar bill in an open guitar case
i hope one day i’ll learn to keep my head down
to keep walking instead of getting stuck in front of windows
it feels like i’m loitering in the parking lot of everyone else’s lives
a heap of squeezed ginger ale cans
and candy bar wrappers crowding my bare feet
i guess eventually i’ll have to leave and find out
things always look better through a side mirror
i glance back and see the orange trees in the median
a runner almost getting hit by a left-hand turn
i’m so glad i didn’t have to watch her die
instead i watch two college students nervously laugh
shifting their weight from one foot to the other
beside the crosswalk button and i sigh a little
they are on one side of the glass and i am on the other
i seem to miss the things i made sure would never happen to me
tuck myself into bed buzzing with the engine of
a snow-covered train, a reckless ellipses
it is comforting to want what i cannot have

Salvation comes with a price--

Pried open doors,
choir songs of fingerdust
resurrecting goldrush,
and a pretty little
cromulent called whitewash.

New century martyrs
have risen up to burn books,
and quotes,
and tongues,
and every contrariwise thought,
--is this intuition or inquisition?

What ascends is trapped within
tenebrific clouds,
returning to barren ground
when it rains unholy prayers.

They don't crusade for you or me.
They contest for dominion and mastery.
Those who believe are mooncalf.

This torchlight of intolerance
sends out skyrockets,
and away it goes!

Past generations
burning at the stake,
at the hands of sinners clothed as saints,
in cathedral oblivion,
dismembering their future
in the blood of their own children.

Amen?

one day ill lay beneath the flowers
my soul blossoming outwards,
only to be compressed by the soil.
once more rejected, failing to love...
poor little me, won't know what else to do..!
but tear into themselves,
crying for all of eternity...
but they say that tragedy is a beauty,
which is why the flowers blossom
over my pitiful grave.
and isn't it funny...?
laughable almost,
to be the source of your own misery

Things don’t always turn out the way you long them to
Those whom you love truly won’t always be there for you

Remember the few moments in time
When forever was promised without a goodbye

If only things could somehow remain the same
I’d never have to beg for the memories to stay

The Jezebel
Screamth, Not I.
My ******* though dun
Nay, not I.

Forbidden from silence
Banned from breath
The words come spilling
Manned by wrath

My heart lies with you
Of the sorrow that’s within
Fate comes unwilling
Betraying our last wish

Thy spirit soars
Well past the hourglass
And you think I’m thankful
For what is beholden

But again, I say
Not I, not I
My hairs be wires
What belies compare

Beauty without beholder
Leaves room for the wilder

Dame, pretention knows no bounds
Hate hold thy ground

Walking home
at twilight:

the gentle breeze

the lavender sky

the wave goodbye
before the sun
closes its eyes

and the lingering disquiet
of knowing
you're all alone
for the next several blocks
For Sarah Everard.
It wasn't her fault.
For many women simply taking a walk can be a gamble, even in a good neighborhood.
That is unacceptable.

i wish you'd leave me alone
i wish you'd leave my head
like how you leave me in the morning
i wish i could make it go away
with a whispered lullaby
like the monsters under the bed
i wish i could stick a knife in it
you're still standing there so perfectly
and it feels like a tragedy
when you smile at me
and it's not like how i remembered it.

delaminated

I've broken free

the blade undone

cover me with a round of fire

and I'll meet you

on the landing strip

but where's the safety net?

where are the professionals?

it's not war that chills my spine

this time

it's the final take

once there was a guy
who made a girl his star

too afraid to lose her
too afraid she'll go

walking nowhere, holding her hand
asking if she'll stay forever

she just looked at him and said
yes, until my last breath, my love

the night sky is shining so bright
as he pointed his gun on her

good night my brightest star, he said.
i'll meet you in your dreams tonight
