Dear diary;
Today was
a good day to die.
But worry not,
ready or not,
I'm going to
live young
and die fast.
William A Poppen Feb 2020
When looking for
a perfect phrase
to describe
communication today

Not just in politics
not just in advertising
nor just in social news
or just in entertainment
consider mendacious propaganda

Mendacious the adjective
With many synonyms
For telling lies

Put together with propaganda
One has a shell bomb
A barn-burner of a phrase
For spreading rumors,
Passing on false information
And trying to influence others

Mendacious propaganda is like
A morning misting settling on the grass
Dew blankets everything
Likewise information
Fake is called real
Real is called fake
Newspapers have
A column to check the fakes
To tell you which print
You might trust
Today, Truth, lies, news

To find me
I'm supposed to change
Myself
But I don't know why
I have to change
Or what I'm supposed to
Change into.

To find me
I have to start
Searching
For something
But I don't know
What I'm even
Looking for.

To find me
I need to
Understand
Who I am
And who I can be
Or who I
Will be.

I'll think about it more.
Tomorrow.
I'm too tired.
Today.
I'm sick, tired and sad, right now.
So tomorrow.

Why do I compare myself
to a love you'll always love?

When you clearly whisper
her name, in my presence
when I'm asleep

Love,
is that
you?
Love is a joke, sometimes

You know that feeling
when you finish a poem
and smoke a cigarette?

That one.

Today I cut my own hair
Locked in my room
Drowned in despair
My eyes are more green today

Today I cut my own hair
I'm always so tired
But sleep can't compare
Cause the noise sneaks through the door

Today I cut my own hair
I notice patterns in myself
Yet I can never prepare
For the lingering threat of the dark

at the end of the day
one should always remember
rest and meditate in any way
the stress you should not bear

rest for it's what you deserve
rest because the day is over
rest for the day will swerve
rest because you need it more than ever
it's ironic how im writing this when i myself can't rest due to exams and school works

Today is the day
What day you might ask
The day you might want to consider, hiding that flask
Was that too bold of me to say
I do apologize, However I meant it in almost every way
You say you have troubles
But maybe your luck is about to double
If you count out now
I can guarantee not one person will begin to bow
So come on, up you get
And don’t even think about throwing a fit
For today, well today was a test
And for tomorrow, you'll be rewarded with some rest.

Dear Depression,

You are everywhere
You are my nightmares and daydreams.
You are the contradicting thoughts in my head that consume me.
You are the void I feel when I get done laughing.
You are the thing scratching at my brain when I am alone.
Despite all this, Depression, today I beat you.
I beat you when I got out of bed and didn’t even think about putting on makeup.
I beat you when I saw my face and thought I was beautiful.
Still, I know that you’ll be back.
I know that you never really left.
Because you do that, you leave and make me think you are gone for good.
But then you show up on a good day.
To remind me that you will always be there.
But today, Depression, I beat you.
I wanted to out Depression, depression has no right to do this. But yet it still does, to a lot of us...
