when the sadness becomes deep
like the crunch of long dead leaves
and an acoustic guitar echoing off of marble.
when it's accompanied by silent tears,
i want my love to
take its calloused and velvet hands
and wrap you in warmth.
remove the ice and the trapped feeling,
give you every key and every paintbrush.
grow clovers around your home
and plant flowers in the floor of you room.
let them serve as reminders of the things
greater than sadness: life and its persistence.
spring will thaw,
winter will not win.
hope is merely sunlight.
it can disappear during the dark night
but the daybreak of its return is glorious.
you will live to see the sunrise.
here's to hope

but are you not in all things?
the glory of morning and the peaceful rest of night.
our love is no light affair.
it is the heavy press of storms
and found in the eastern and western rains.
is not each word but a picture frame of my love?
to display it as clearly as a blue sky and an untouched lake.
are you not with me in every moment?
a constant presence
through every sunset and sunrise.
through every hot month of summer and cold of winter.
you are the heavens,
you are the earth.
and happiness is of you, a brilliant
radiant light of all the good in the world.
an epic love poem or whatever

I saw 25 years flash before my tired eyes
Third of my life is over
Older with every sunrise
God I feel old these days

Morning's induction act -
the sun breaks cover bright as
Los Alamo's flash.
The sun, rising from behind Mont Blanc, made sunrise seem sudden.
you'll find someone
to love and hold on to
and you'll have happy times
together

forget why you went with one another
and where you went, for what
but suppose it makes no difference
to two lovebirds

it's the kind of love that makes people turn their heads
mirrored in their faces is everything we want
so we just stare, waiting for our reflection

though that might wain
love's thrill comes in rolling
on the crest of another day
as sure as a sunrise

Turn out the lights
catch the night’s bequest

Train your eyes on the horizon
sunrise is approaching

Notice how blue is shading
from deep to pale

There are no shadows
Cast by the moon
Hiding behind the clouds

Sounds reverberate from
an airplane drifting
to a landing

Morning’s quiet
regains the stage

Until a Robin chirps
a wake-up call

Sunrise is approaching
advancing from east to west
lighting the sky

Rocks whiten to become obvious
against the pallid grass of winter
robbed of nutrition by the cold of January

No orb announces today
the sun is rising although hidden
behind dense condensation

The orange orb of the sun
will not flood the skyline

The fever of night
has become the pale of the day

Mortal pink to gray crest -
the fox sun and cloud hedge
advance thin as wax,
strew frost on the yard,
& wrist peach away,
as light leaks, hours ahead.
Hope Jan 2021
sunlight shatters on my shoulders
blessing my soul with hope
